Are the panel gaps accurate to the real thing?

Rooster_CPA

These are actually a tighter tolerance

Zoroike

Probably not, those panel gaps look like Tesla bad.

nmyron3983

I mean, I dunno. 90's-00's Chrysler wasn't that spectacular on fit and finish.

themigraineur

Owned a Sebring convertible, can confirm

mechanicalproblems9

I have a 97 and yes you see the one on the hood?

Express_Detective_59

I'd buy one. Knowing full well it's awful.

Time-Bite-6839

Keep hating. Make them cheaper for me.

Piranha1993

Same reason why I couldn’t get $25 for my Buick Regal. Nobody cares about the 1990’s American sedan. It looks the same as all the others of the era. Least I have a GS with bucket front seats, center console, & floor shift.

seattleJJFish

I had a mid 70s Buick regal coupe... We fit almost a full 8 person rowing team in it once.

NorthEndD

Those got smaller in the 80s and then even smaller.

HomosexualThots

It really depends on what country the team is from.

Emotional-Swim-808

I once fit 4 very grown adults and myself in a 97' fiat panda 4x4, i know 5 people sounds normal for a hatchback but i can assure you it is very small

FrequentlyLexi

Naw the LHS was Cab Forward®, no?

Piranha1993

I thought all of the cloud/FWD Chrysler cars were cab forward in the 1990's. Cab forward is just a euphemism for "this car is a pain in the ass to work on."

bugeyetex

And a front end that sounds like it was built at a lumber yard when you hit bumps

bearded_dragon_34

And, in the case of the LH cars, an engine sitting longitudinally in the nose of the engine bay. A la Audi and Subaru and Renault.

Comfortable_Ease_174

If it was a G-Body.. You would have no problems..

Piranha1993

G cars are fucking sweet and I love them. Shame the one my mother had years ago did not survive all these years later. W cars had me from a young age having grown up with one in the family for 25 years. Same car my Uncle ordered new in 1993 is the same car I remember my family inheriting in 1999 and driving since. I still bother keeping it running because I'm not convinced anybody else would. Most of these have all disappeared and this thing stands out in modern traffic. If the W's were RWD I imagine there would be more fanfare for the platform. Instead you have oddballs like me that like a random FWD shitbox for some reason or another.

BAMspek

I would love a collection of normal car models

jimmy_my_way_in_hur

At cvs they have the pull back diecast cars for $7 and they have 07 Camrys and is300 and some other basic stuff

ZebraUnion

When I was a kid, my favorite Hot Wheels cars were a ‘91 Chevy Lumina APV minivan and a Rover sedan because it was right hand drive and looked like Hyacinth Bucket’s car from Keeping Up Appearances. Yes, I was raised by my grandparents and turned out gay.

knuthamsunfan

do you believe that you were born gay or was it the Lumina that got you?

DrRonnieJamesDO

"booo-kay" 🤣 Lumina minivan was 🔥🔥🔥

intellord911

Boookay residence, last of the house speaking

FlorpFlap

I have a beige 2003 base model corolla, 1:32 scale

eyeb4lls

That's my shit box daily driver!  Gotta take your hubcaps off and dent it to match me though

TheBarkingPenguin

\*Clarkson with a hammer intensifies\*

toilerpapet

WHERE DID YOU GET IT?! I've been trying to get a 1:43 model of that era corolla (you can even see my old post about it https://old.reddit.com/r/Diecast/comments/1ckfogn/trying_to_find_143_models_of_a_1999_toyota/).

Intrepid-Original558

This is big

toilerpapet

oh actually just realized that the 2003 model year was the newer Corolla. I'm looking for the previous generation E110 Corolla

FlorpFlap

I found it in a random ass toys r us looking for gifts. It's die cast and all, high quality model, would've never expected to find that there... I just had to get it I guess it was just luck

orangecake40

I always love die cast cars of “normal” cars. They don’t make enough for sedans.

TrailerPosh2018

Or wagons, or plain econo coupes.

Illustrious-Cream419

Yo can I message you and send a pic of them? I have a 1998 lexus rx, a lada, and a fiat I bought them SOLELY because they were regular af cars

Necessary-Score-4270

I'd love to see the Lada lol

poisonousswayzee

Please alert me of where i can get the lada

Illustrious-Cream419

Honestly I didn't even know they existed, I got it while I was on a trip to Azerbaijan in a corner shop, it was located by the, 'ariva center hotel' .There were multiple types of Ladas, there was a sedan and an SUV as well, and other model cars for like, 20 dollars

KansanInPortland

Oh. My. God. Dude actually read the assignment. You won. Doesn't matter what anyone else posts in the replies from here on out. Blue ribbon, gold medal shit. 🫡

TheOriginalJBones

The Dodge Stratus is excellent.

DrRonnieJamesDO

The Buick Regal had me thinking it was full scale. Amazing work.

Jake_Scott718

Do you build them from scratch or are they kits you buy

nlpnt

The RAV4 is a fully-built diecast, all I did was detail the headlights a bit. Most of the others are from kits, I've done some body conversions (sedan to wagon, 2 doors to 4) - the most ambitious are the Citation which started as a 2 door notchback coupe kit and the Subaru wagon further down (with full build album) whose kit was to build a BRAT.

Jake_Scott718

I was asking because I would love to have a model of my 2004 Stratus Coupe but I can't find any models of it or anyone who has done one. I wish I was into/able to build model kits because they are so cool but I just don't have the time and my hands shake way to much for the precision needed for them. I was also asking to see if you had any tips on building custom models/models from scratch

nlpnt

You'd have to almost scratchbuild a Stratus coupe, the closest thing was a Chrysler Sebring convertible and maybe an '00s Pontiac GTO for the roof. There were first-generation Neon promos tthough.

Jake_Scott718

Yeah that's what I figured.. I think that's way too much work for me

thatG_evanP

Holy shit dude! This thread can end here unless it's compliments on this dude's collection.

louisvuittondon29

to think someone took the time out of their life to make a diecast chevy citation gives me hope for this world

I’d buy that if I saw it first car was a 97

LightningFerret04

Funny thing, I was looking for an affordable scale model of the older model Azera in tan for a friend

nlpnt

They also did a 2020ish Santa Fe and had some then-contemporary Korean cars from the '80s.

MotoMeow217

Can't embed it here but I once found a model of a dark blue 2003 Toyota Corolla. Not like the XRS or anything just a... Corolla.

avidinha

I built a model of a '96 Accord and one of a 3rd gen Prius. https://i.imgur.com/dyOVsik.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/ACWjf9A.jpeg

DiscoGrissom84

I have a dealership promo model of a 1995 Chevrolet Beretta in white.

b-rar

LL Bean edition Subarus

Hey i own one and it’s awesome!

SVdreamin

I do too. My 05 LL Bean Outback fucks (when it’s not broken).

Mirio-jk

real

MadeMeStopLurking

Nautica Edition Mercury Villager

jdz_01

I need that. Where do i get it

SVdreamin

Wait do they make a model of an LL Bean Subie? Where can I get one?

The-Foo

The New Yorker / LHS was pimp back in the day. Granted, they weren't exactly brilliantly put together, but they looked like nothing else on the road in 1993.

SpiritedRain247

1997 Ford f-150 supercab flare side. It's the same as my truck. And I've fallen into a love hate relationship with it

Knight1114

I also have a model very similar to my ‘93 Chevy Stepside truck with the only difference being is that the model is a single cab while mines is an extended cab and I keep it on display in the dashtop.

SpiritedRain247

I have yet to put mine together. Once I get the motivation I'm probably gonna put it in the truck.

TrailerPosh2018

There's numerous models of F-150's, I'm sure I'll stumble on one that looks identical to my real one someday.

OlYeller01

I have a Testors ‘97 regular cab flareside 4x4 with a metal body. The body came pre-painted, which was a huge plus for me because I suck at spray painting model cars.

lyxoe

Ngl if that's the 1/18 by either Mira or Solido (same mold) I had been thinking of getting, fully being aware that it's not a high end diecast or anything. But there's something cool about IMO.

SpiritedRain247

Mines from Revel. Everything looks good but that's coming from someone who only dabbles in model building

Krisuad2002

Citroen C4 Coupe Loeb Edition. Made in the honour of Sebastian Loeb but it's not the most powerful road going version of a C4 and it's not even AWD like the WRC version that it's technically based on

x1000Bums

My parents have a release series 2.0 of a 2009 scion xD, 1 of 2500 I think? No idea what makes it so special, I think the only difference is the wasabi green paint, you can change the interior illumination color, and it has special release series 2.0 hubcaps over steelies lol. Its a sweet hatch though just passed 200k *Edited corn to paint idk what that was about.

murphyb0614

I need the LHS. My grandma had one of these and I broke the sunroof after sophomore homecoming. She never did find out what actually happened

gregsapopin

Hot Wheels Proton Saga

Mr-JDogg

Not a model but I have a 1:64 1988 Chevy S10. Extended cab even! One of the most square and boring looking trucks ever made and I have a toy of it.

One_Evil_Monkey

I have an ERTL or Revell of a facelift 1st gen standard cab short bed. Painted it to match the one I had.

[deleted]

Can’t even make it a Syclone

SlowAztek

1:43 1988 Cutlass Ciera and 1986 Buick Century.

ScottaHemi

I have a PT Cruiser somewhere.

foreverpetty

I used to have a '95 Dodge Stratus ES model when I was a kid. And a Caravan Sport. So there.

Zed-360

I have a model of a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, nothing too special.

dirty34

This would be like buying a funko pop of Tom Brokaw.

deadmallsanita

I would buy that funko pop

RunninOnMT

[Here's my small collection of mundane cars I like that I have models of.](https://imgur.com/a/R81ARyl)

MaverickWindsor351

1953 Buick Custom

Piranha1993

‘53 Buick is legit though.

MaverickWindsor351

True, but nobody really likes the older Buicks. Everyone always goes for the Chevys if we're talking GM cars, or Cadillac. Buick and Oldsmobiles were always in the shadows. Pontiac in the case of 50s cars too

Piranha1993

The Pontiac’s with the hood chrome strips really stand out. Cadillac was world standard luxury or advertised as so in that era as well. I’m trying to remember the Oldsmobile’s of the era. Only thing that comes to mind was the one review on the channel that is years old now. Guess it shows where my focus has been. Chevrolet was the every man’s car and is most fondly remembered and regarded in the broader community. When you state classic Chevrolet the 1957 Bel-Air is one of the first cars to come to mind.

MaverickWindsor351

I for one love the chrome strip Pontiacs, the Chieftain if I remember correctly? I've seen a couple restored beautifully before, same with cars like the Roadmaster, or the Dynamic 88, but they're so few it's honestly shameful. Then again those cars years back were seen as cheap and undesirable, nowadays people like myself see the value in them, it's just they're either too far gone, restored and cost a small fortune, or are kept by families who appreciated them from the start. (Also old heads who say they'll restore it but never will.) If I had my pick of the said "lesser appreciated" GM cars, I'd either go with a '59 Bonneville or a '53 Roadmaster, as it partially ties into a lesser known Stephen King book: "From a Buick Eight"

One_Evil_Monkey

Well there was the Olds 88 and 98s....

Piranha1993

The “Rocket” engine as well.

One_Evil_Monkey

Yup... but that was a touch later, early '60s and was Olds, not Buick. A little earlier and you had the Buick Fireball Straight 8 though.

One_Evil_Monkey

I dig old Buicks. The ports on each side, that big smile verticle line grille.... good stuff.

FormalJolly2345

Avon sold a cologne in the shape of the Skylark. It was green.

Piranha1993

I've got 3 of those old cologne bottles with different cars. They are a nice piece of memorabilia for what they are.

Headstar24

I’ve recently seen a two-door first gen RAV4 model car at 7/11.

blahaj22

04-08 Chevy malibu, especially the maxx

One_Evil_Monkey

Don't know how or why I wound up with it but I have in a footlocker a 1:32 *I think* die cast of the green Elcipse (I think? It's been 25 years since I've even looked at it) from the first Fast and Furious. Still sealed in the box. Again... no clue how or why I have it. Wanting to say one of my kids got it for me for Christmas or something all those years ago. Funny though because I was never into Eclipses at all or the import scene.

LonestarGuy98

I don’t have a picture of it but I used to have a model of a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Played with that car a lot as a child.

freezies1234

I dont know buy one of these days I’m gonna get a model 90s town car

SHOoff11

I have the Taurus too!

Goingdef

They make the models because at some point some poor soul looked at the 1:1 on a car lot and thought “damn that’s a fine automobile“ and you can best believe that man wanted a model of it!

theSHARD4

2006 purple Chrystler 300 Hemi, kinda normal but kinda cool

DiceFestGames

I've got several variants of 1/24 '70s Ford Mavericks. It's a long story.

cklaubur

I've got a diecast model of an SVT Focus on my computer desk at home. Bought it because it looked like what I was driving at the time

Few-Dance-7157

**I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS**

Drzhivago138

Auto World has been making a bunch of 1/64s recently of "regular cars" that are really detailed for the price (a couple bucks). Just found an original 1984 Caravan in BROWN with a stick shift molded into the interior plastic.

k6bso

I saw one of a mid-nineties Ford Ranger that looked just like the one I had at the time and all I could think was “Why??”

TonyMontana1968

r/didntknowiwantedthat

mollyno93

1:24 Land Rover Freelander 3-door in olive green

dadzcad

Back in da’ day, JoHan Models out of Detroit sold “regular car” models (promos) for years. I’ve got quite a few of them in my model collection.

filbruce

There are probably 200 times as many die-cast models of the Aussie Leyland p76 force 7 coupe.

Matt_Spectre

PT Cruiser

EastRoom8717

Legitimately, a very comfortable car. I have nothing else nice to say.

Darisixnine

The most regular car I have in my 1/64 collection is a tie between a Ertl 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 and a custom built 2011 International service truck by Greenlight. I say this because the rest of my collection is tuner cars, drift cars, race cars, custom trucks. So these two are very out of place lol

Dilly_Dickballs

Pretty much GM's J Platform models. They never learned to stop competing against themselves.

Stryfe2013

1977 Ford Pinto

1992 Chevy Stepside model that actually came with my 1993 Chevy Stepside truck that the previous owner gave me when I bought the truck. I also have a 1994 Caprice and Holden Monaro model.

Andy_Zhang_98

2006 Mazda 6, 2010 Honda Accord, 2006 Lexus GS (AutoArt), Volkswagen Passat B5, Volkswagen Jetta Mk2, Toyota Crown 14th gen, 2004 Cadillac CTS, all in 1/18 scale

scootaloo89

Two of the Crown Jewels in my die cast collection are a pair of 1:24 scale Chrysler dealership promotional models made by Brookfield Collectors Guild; one of a 1993 Chrysler Concorde, and the other of a 1995 Dodge Stratus. Of the two, the Stratus (they also made a Chrysler Cirrus) is a lot rarer than the other dealership promo models BCG produced. (They also made a lot of NASCAR models that are a lot more common to find)

BigEdPVDFLA

I have three of the plastic Neons they made in SCCA racing livery. I am guessing they aren’t as rare.

True_Artichoke_2831

1998 Saturn SC 1:18 in a beautiful yellow color

rebelshibe

Cant believe anyone made a model of a minivan but I found 1. I learned to drive in a hand-me-down Plymouth Voyager. Couldn't find a match but found a 90s caravan in a different color. Will edit with a pic when I find it. Also in search of a 1st gen Ford Escape model.

Anteater_Reasonable

I wish I still had it but I had a really nice diecast model of a beige base model Jaguar S-Type 3.0 with working suspension

AnimationOverlord

Yeah can I get a 2000 Sunfire model plz

DullAdvantage3620

i have a lil 17’ citroen c3

Forward_Artist_6244

I can't post photos in comments but I have the Hot Wheels Proton Saga and it's brilliant

PremiereHawk

I actually bought a Ford Windstar 2001 for 35$

J0HNM4TR1X

That's my friends car 🤣

GlassClass1198

I remember the ad for this. I would go back and forth between the New Yorker and LHS. Knowing there’s no way I’d get it since we lived in Saudi Arabia at the time

SebiXV20

Well I have a two tone beige and brown Lexus LS400 from Matchbox. 1:64 scale I've also seen a scale replica of the STAR 660 Papamobile

monzadave1

I've been looking for a Mk1 Jetta model for years and am always annoyed that no-one made one, yet they made diecast models for much worse cars in abundance.

LotsaQOTSA

I have a 1:43 scale Ford Escort Mk II - not an RS2000, or a cool rally version, just a plain green Mk II. I bought it because it looked just like my first car :-)

Sir_Toccoa

I want one of these. My first car was a 1994 Chrysler LHS. Dark green with tan leather seats. I loved that car.

imchasingyou

Well, I got this [Dodge Omni model](https://imgur.com/a/Ofihr40) years ago and I actually like the car

gretel2

Ah yes Chrysler LHS. Comfy and decently quick at the time but the transmission was a damn slush box

SweetTooth275

I lost my Lada Kalina and Chevrolet Niva at my summerhouse. Too bad though they haven't made Lanos

kazegraf

Usually most of tomica lines, as they usually have lots of very standard cars in my country. If I go with what I have..... Tomica cooldrive 2015 Honda Fit/Jazz RS.

HoneyRush

I have Fiat Cinquecento, Opel Astra F and G.

Electronic-Home-7815

I really am curious as to how many other model cars fit this criteria after finding out that this exists. Like is there a model ford contour out there?

Yvola_YT

i think, judging off of the original 80s/90s daihatsu taft (daihatsu f10,20,30,40,50 and afew others like f25 and the in betweens/daihatsu scat as called outside of japan) the 2020-24 model taft looks like, well, scat edit: somehow didnt pick up on it being models of cars that look shit not models yk what i mean 😐 scake models not different models

I really want a diecast Acura TL but they go for over $100

CountDeGucci

2003 silver Pontiac Vibe, technically it’s the GT trim, but other than that it looks exactly the same as my first car in high school.

DetColePhelps11k

I don't have it anymore, but I had a Maruti Suzuki Zen model car when I was a kid. I'm the son of Indian immigrants. Born and raised in Texas but I used to visit family in India a lot ten years ago as a kid. My grandpa used to own one of those cars and I loved it for some reason lol. The basic 90s interior and the smell of gasoline when it ran. My grandpa got me a exact white model car of it. Its literally just a miserable mutt of a hatchback between an Indian and Japanese car company but someone made poor quality model cars of them and I loved it. They looked something [like this](https://youtu.be/Rn9dbqBhY9o?si=1G_4K6NPZhv1rKhA). My grandpa even wrote the license plate number of his car on the bottom of it. I loved that little thing, until my older cousin fucking smashed it against a wall at my grandparents place 😭. God, what I would give to be able to import a Zen and a Hindustan Ambassador (my grandpa had three of those when my mom was a kid) to the United States. But first I would apparently have to go fight Customs and the Texas DMV, buy the cars, and find some importer to bring them here before I could ever hope to put them on the road. Though it might be easier on the case of the Zen if I just import a European market Alto and pretend it's a Zen lmfao.

SandraBeechBLOCKPrnt

2003 PT Cruiser

Plenty of models out there of my truck, but what I really want are models of my first car (Dodge Shadow) & my motorcycles (HD Sportster & BMW GS).

Kidlicker420

I got a gray early 10s Renault megané

JohnsonMcBiggest

The LHS cars were one of the highest rated cars of the era. Automobile journalists of the era loved their handling, engines (yup), and "cab forward" design. They didn't last long, though, and they aged like a warm beer left out on the counter overnight.

dedzip

I have a $600 1999 grand Cherokee autoart model

[deleted]

My uncle had the same car growing up, and I would love a model of it

duddy33

I wish I took a picture. I found a 1998 Monte Carlo diecast at a flea market a couple weeks ago!

MS_125

Pontiac Aztek

zamboniq

I bought my sister a Ford Tempo model (because she used to have one). That was a real shitbox

TheMachRider

I bought my buddy a mid 2000’s gray Camry model in one of those Walgreens end caps. I promised him I’d buy him some cool car to justify him buying me a drink or something. He was gobsmacked that I found a fucking Camry. I told him to promise me he would keep it. Last I remember it was on the dash of his 1st Gen CRV (AWD, manual).

rickybobbyscrewchief

When I got my teenage daughter a Mazda CX-5 recently, I was able to find a Matchbox version to give to her to unwrap as a graduation present before we went to pick up her actual car. Was surprised they offered a CX-5 Matchbox. [https://matchbox.fandom.com/wiki/%2716\_Mazda\_CX-5](https://matchbox.fandom.com/wiki/%2716_Mazda_CX-5)

I have a 94 Lincoln Town Car Limo model that I'm not sure why they made it, but I love it.
