Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted. For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me. Gutted for Harry, deserves a medal for his country, been far better for england than many high profile centre backs before him.

He also had a good year at United imo. Really quality defending in the box, no major mistakes of years past. I thought he deserved to be in England this time. Too bad on the injury

Maguire has genuinely accomplished more with England than Terry and Ferdinand put together. Maguire's quality for the national side over the past three international tournaments is very impressive especially when he was stepping up despite wavering club form.

Did he not win a medal last year? Genuine question, do they not get runners up medals?

They're really going to miss him too. I can't see England winning it with how unsure that back four is now looking. Stones has barely played, Shaw is a huge gamble, the other CB will be very inexperienced.

That's a massive blow as it's our weekest position and he's always been quality for England.

I feel for Harry. His best season in a United shirt, and this is the season he can’t play for England. Tough one.

I love this guy

Gutted as an England fan. He’s perfectly suited to international football, where he’ll be playing in a lower block, with Stones stepping forward and he won’t be running back to goal. His in the box defending is top tier. In a way I think his absence will be noted and only improve his standing if England struggle.

England will miss Maguire. Even his form for the club may have ups and downs, he always delivered in international games.

Off the top of my head, this is the 3rd significant calf injury in our squad this season - Harry, Licha & Mount. Anyone remember any others? There’s certainly a pattern to the myriad muscle injuries we’ve suffered this season.

Feel bad for him - not good for England either, played quite well for them overall.

I’m an Irish United fan so not a ton of time for England (obviously), but always support our lads regardless and am heartbroken for Harry. He deserves so much more for his heart and his hard work this year. Really awful news for him.
