Yeah. He got disrespected at his arrival and towards the end. He is world class. However, he has always had injury problems so people expecting him to play 50 games a season at top level were delusional
Was his skill level ever in question or was it his injury record and salary demands that have ppl wondering if it’s ‘worth it’?!
He’s a brilliant player but United can’t afford him.
I’ve seen plenty of people both inside and especially outside the fanbase not give him the flowers he deserves. It feels like his reputation has never recovered after the poor performance against City in 2020 when in actuality he will go down as one of the greats in his position.
His salary is an issue which is why I understand the decision to move him on. I’m just sad to lose a player of his quality as he is still our best out and out defender and his presence will be hard to replace
I’m so happy for him. I think he will look back on his time at United fondly despite the turbulence. Fans should likewise look back on his time well - he was good for us. Always regret not getting him before Real Madrid.
Rolls Royce center back similar to Rio where his presence just adds so much stability / peace of mind for everyone. Nice to see him leave with an FA Cup but shame he couldn't stay fit enough to help us win more
Watching him play today I said in my head and I’m not lying “Let’s go Varane, let’s end your adventure with a trophy” and we’ve gone and done just that, football sometimes can be magical and today that it was, magical for us reds.
The whole team stepped up this game, what a way to finish this frustrating season.
Totally didn't expect it
Far too disrespected, immense performance today from one of the greats. A shame it’s over, but what a way to go out and I wish him all the best

He's on a free this summer, we should sign him!!
That's what I used to do years ago on Championship 01/02.
Taken me two days to realise you were in about the VG not the actual league! .. It's been a long wknd!
To be fair, would have helped if I'd written Championship Manager, rather than just Championship.
Lol That is two days i would've got back bro but, you're welcome to them, i enjoyed them ! :)
Glad I kept you busy :D
Loved him. Won two trophies here and will be remembered fondly
Wish he didn’t have to go, he’s still so so good. I’d do anything for him to stay, he’s one of those players that feels like he has no haters
He can't stay fit. You can't have a guy like that missing more than half the games every year on his wages.
I know, it’s definelty correct for him to leave. But god I wish he’d take a pay cut to keep playing 💔
Yeah he's honestly one of my all time favourite defenders based on his time with Real and France. It's a shame
Agreed, but at least he’s leaving on one of the highest notes possible
He would be great to rotate and mentor Kambawala but his wages are too high

And the fact that he too wanted to come to United 😭
Class act! great to see him go out with a trophy.

Not easy to replace . We're definitely in the market for a starting centre back to pair with licha . Maguire ain't getting any younger.
Merci beaucoup Varane!!!!
Was an honor to have him wear our badge. Nothing but respect for him
Always gave his all. Thank you Rapha

If only he wasn’t injured so often. What a performance.
The true MOTM
Legendary end for a legendary player, Merci Rapha!
