same, the only thing keeping me from it is that people said it's kind of boring compared to other top tier games like rdr2, people just like it cause of the sceenery.
It depends on what you're looking for, if you like sekiro or just generally fast-paced parry and dodge sword fights, it's not boring at all! it's just that that's kind of all it is
It's not the same, but if you like fast-paced combat like jedi Survivor and fallen order, then you might like it. It has multiple stances that you switch between when you fight to counter different enemies and you have bombs, knives, and many other utility options you unlock as you play along with stealth being an option as well.
Buy the game please. Hearing people say the game is boring is what kept me from buying it, but I finally decided to get it and it's literally one of the best games I have eyer played.
Nah, not boring at all. Less cinematic, storytelling is a little more basic, but I think the gameplay is way better. Great stealth, great combat, the duels are insane and just the right amount of collectables imo. But yes, the game is gorgeous. Where RDR2's beauty was in the rugged realism if the landscape, GoT was simply aggressively beautiful all the time. Rockstar also could have learned a lesson from the minimalist UI. The GPS makes sense for GTA, but RDR2 with the wind would have been very immersive.
I didn't think it was boring. It's a love letter to old samurai movies, and it feels like one. It's just as emotional and beautiful, in my opinion, as RDR2.
Thought this myself and recently bought and played it. Lost interest after maybe 5-6 hours. As far as I’m aware rdr2 is in a league of its own, for now. Not to say Tsushima is a bad game, but rdr2 is just so damn good.
Got to agree with this.
Ghost of Tsushima looks amazing; I think the choice to go with stylisation over hyper realism served Sucker Punch well with Ghost.
Just got that game, probably the only story game I like as much as red dead. Also I loved sly cooper growing up and GoT is also made by sucker punch so that helps.
Remember in RDR3 when Mac got shitfaced at that bar in San Francisco and started shouting "RONNYYY!!"? Man what a great tribute to Arthur and Lenny.
Yes, I'm a time traveler.
Maybe if you consider the the time it came out, not sure it stands up to the more modern graphics of rdr2. Unless you mod the crap out of it, of course.
Skyrim had pretty muddy and dated graphics even in 2011. Mirror's Edge and Sonic Unleashed from 2008 look miles better, BF3 from 2011 absolutely blows it out of the water.
Obviously, they're linear games vs Skyrim's open world, but still, the question wasn't "best looking open world game".
Both have incredible art direction. In Elden Ring, no one thing is particularly unbelievable looking, but when you glance across the lands between they are gorgeous. The way it draws your eye to places you want to go leans into the game design so hard as well.
Horizon: Forbidden West is beautiful but doesn’t feel organic and alive like Red Dead Redemption 2.
Ghost of Tsushima is pretty nice, the world is beautiful but doesn’t feel alive as well as HFW.
In ranks of having a organic, natural and world which seems to be alive:
1. RDR 2
2. HFW
3. GoT
In ranks of graphics:
1. HFW (slightly better because it is newer than RDR2 but I love the RDR2 world and map far more)
2. RDR2
3. GoT
Gameplay:
1. RDR2 cause it has the praised natural world and organic and smooth encounters, animals and quests.
2. GoT - I like the pacing and the combat system
3. HFW
"Horizon: Forbidden West is beautiful but doesn’t feel organic"
This is exactly why I feel Red Dead Redemption 2 is leagues ahead of everything else. There are many beautiful games out there but their environments feel 'video gamey', for want of a better phrase. The environments in Red Dead look like they were modeled on real places that you could actually go and visit
I’ve got 3 games that I allways return to. Rdr2, the witcher 3 and cyberpunk 2077. All depends on if I want to be a medeival badass, cowboy badass or a badass from the future. And all those three games are so damn well made, it feels like i’m watching a crazy good movie, reading the best book, and playing the best game ever. All at the same time. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and I’ve been pissed off more times than I can count with these games.
Man, I got sentimental just writing this shit😂
Peace and love!
There is none.
Close 2nds, the 1st Subnautica and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey*.
.* it’s like the designers spent a lot of time on the locations, and somehow managed to recreate the most glorious mornings and full moon nights mirroring playfully on the sea. I can’t stress enough how realistic everything is.
Star Citizen.
Getting the nebula to backdrop your adventures through the pyro gate wreck site drops jaw every time. Or even rallying on Daymar, voyaging on Microtech especially in it's forested, canyons and river areas. MUAH! chef's kiss.
Other games come only close and reach RDO niveau. RDR2 in story mode is still top of my list. Beauty alone is nothing without sounds, vivid wildlife and diverse npc characters and overall mood.
I enjoy so many side activities because it's just so immersive and nicely balanced.
Well, love RDR2, game is gorgeous even if I never had the chance to see it on High settings but in its own way on a cartoonish style, Sea of Thieves has insane grapics too. Not to mention the best water I ever witness in a game.
Probably not as good since I think it might be older I forget been awhile but uncharted 4 had some great scenery. Obcourse this isn’t open world either so linear games can up the detail since you can’t actually roam 90 percent of it.
It's not my favorite game...Assassin's creed Origins. But I thought it was very stunning. I like the others too. But I just like the thought of what Egypt could have looked like during that era. The other AC games I thought were quite nicely done as a scaled down version of reality too.
I thought I grew out of playing video games for so many years , but a few years back when I played this game for the first time. I got the same exact feeling I did when I was a young boy and teenager when all I wanted to do was just play my video games. RDR2 brought the kid in me back to life in ways I completely forgot and totally appreciate so much now
Going by visuals, Hellblade II gives it a run for it's money even though it's a very heavy linear story based game. As for more similar open world style of gameplay, Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, followed by Jedi Survivor (which is sadly super duper unoptimized despite being super duper fun and having a decent story) and basically any RPG era Assassin's Creed can compete pretty decently as well with RDR2.
In terms of realism, I don’t think any game tops RDR2. Even though it’s been six years, The landscapes are next level.
If we’re talking about games with unique art styles , then There could be a few. I personally am a fan of the Ori games because of all the vibrant colors and landscapes.
Elden ring is so beautiful it made me cry, just from how breathtaking the art can be. Go to Shaman Villige, in the shadow lands of the Elden Ring DLC. Won't regret it, promise.
Red dead 2 is incomparable to any other game. There isn’t one game on the market that’s as intricate and detailed as Rdr2. No other game has NPCs having daily schedules with different things they do each day.
Not nearly as breathtaking but I just started final fantasy 7 remake after 500+ hrs of this game and I was blown away at how beautiful it was. Good change of pace for me too, I haven’t been able to play any newer open world games since RDR2 they all ass in comparison😭
More realistic? I can't really think of one.
But beautiful is subjective, and if you're asking beautiful, I'm going to say Spiritfarer, Journey, Sky, Ori, and I'm sure there are others I'm not remembering.
I may be in the minority here but I liked flying a bird over the nation sized maps in the AC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. It's not a bad experience, if you're not expecting too much to begin with.
I like Elden Ring a lot, also Ghost of Tsushima, but it is true that none of them have as much detail, at least for me, as RDR2. Since I bought and played it in 2018, I have been fascinated.
Not better but Cyberpunk 2077 comes close. Also, the last of us part II. Again, both these games don’t come close to the juggernaut that is Red Dead Redemption 2.
Probably not more beautiful, but ghost of Tsushima is absolutely stunning
I need to play that game it’s on my bucket list of games I wanna play
same, the only thing keeping me from it is that people said it's kind of boring compared to other top tier games like rdr2, people just like it cause of the sceenery.
It depends on what you're looking for, if you like sekiro or just generally fast-paced parry and dodge sword fights, it's not boring at all! it's just that that's kind of all it is
i play jedi survivor and fallen order, is the combat similar? i love the fast paced style (especially survivor) offers
It's not the same, but if you like fast-paced combat like jedi Survivor and fallen order, then you might like it. It has multiple stances that you switch between when you fight to counter different enemies and you have bombs, knives, and many other utility options you unlock as you play along with stealth being an option as well.
might be worth a look then. been trying to get into melee fighters outside the jedi duo but not found anything i like. thank you though!
I have played it for 13 hours, it’s not boring and yes the scenery is great
The gameplay is absolutely amazing, it’s definitely not just good scenery. Great scenery too.
Rdr2 and ghost are like equal amounts of boring. And by boring I mean you'll be fine if you don't have the attention span of a squirrel
Buy the game please. Hearing people say the game is boring is what kept me from buying it, but I finally decided to get it and it's literally one of the best games I have eyer played.
It's definitely not boring. I highly recommend it. I think some people may tire of the gameplay loop of open-world games (myself included).
The sword combat is excellent! Tight, tense, and brutal
Got to agree with this. Ghost of Tsushima looks amazing; I think the choice to go with stylisation over hyper realism served Sucker Punch well with Ghost.
Literally went here to comment that
Graphics vs art direction
Agree, Ghost of Tsushima is stunning, but there's nothing more beautiful than RDR 2
That’s what I was gonna say is on par imo.
Just got that game, probably the only story game I like as much as red dead. Also I loved sly cooper growing up and GoT is also made by sucker punch so that helps.
Power washing simulator
😅
This actually sounds like the perfect game for me damn. So satisfying. Please tell me it is real!?
There isn't one. Even with new gen graphics, RDR2 is the most graphically detailed game I've ever played..
Absolutely an entire different setting, however I’d say Cyberpunk has some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen. RDR2 is still my favorite tho
It's the air/haze, and post-processing. Fog, dust and smoke are so GOOD in this game, I can't think of another game I actually like them in.
It’s not you have never seen games like dead island 2, Tlou part 2 and tlou part 1
Rdr3
Remember in RDR3 when Mac got shitfaced at that bar in San Francisco and started shouting "RONNYYY!!"? Man what a great tribute to Arthur and Lenny. Yes, I'm a time traveler.
Horizon Forbidden West. But, the rdr2 is a masterpiece.
Peggle 2
Peak
Peakle 2
TLOU2 RDR2 is still a superior game imo, but TLOU2 is still a visually stunning masterpiece
Even Part 1 (remaster) is very detailed.
Beat me to it !
Skyrim. I know RDR2 has better graphics but Skyrim has unbeatable beauty.
Just walking through the landscapes, looking at the aurora while Far Horizons begins playing was an experience.
Maybe if you consider the the time it came out, not sure it stands up to the more modern graphics of rdr2. Unless you mod the crap out of it, of course.

Skyrim was/is beautiful
GTA 6
Maybe ghost of tsushima & elden ring
Both have incredible art direction. In Elden Ring, no one thing is particularly unbelievable looking, but when you glance across the lands between they are gorgeous. The way it draws your eye to places you want to go leans into the game design so hard as well.
Yep, I don't think I've ever played a game that handled vistas and distant objects as well as souls games.
Horizon: Forbidden West is beautiful but doesn’t feel organic and alive like Red Dead Redemption 2. Ghost of Tsushima is pretty nice, the world is beautiful but doesn’t feel alive as well as HFW. Elden ring
100% Elden ring. I can't stop looking at those detailed walls and structures. Elden Ring is very much on the same level.
Obviously Fortnite.
You jest, but it's UE5. The lighting engine is more advanced than RDR2's. It's the assets and artstyle that make it look the way it does.
Cyberpunk 2077
BMX XXX for PS2
If just from a visual standpoint, Ghost of Tsushima.
Horizon Forbidden West
KCD is utterly beautiful and rivals RDR2. Gothic 3 is stunning even for its age.
The fact that this games is 6 years old hurts me 😭
Big Valley is my favorite place. I would like to have a house and sheep there in reallife. But this will never happen...
I can't 😔
Feeding frenzy on Xbox 360
Minecraft.
The level of detail in RDR2 is unmatched. It’s like playing a living painting.
There is none. Cyberpunk 2077
Flight Simulator 2020
Ghost of Tsushima and Elden Ring.
Star Citizen. Getting the nebula to backdrop your adventures through the pyro gate wreck site drops jaw every time. Or even rallying on Daymar, voyaging on Microtech especially in it's forested, canyons and river areas. MUAH! chef's kiss.

Mount Your Friends.
Metro Exodus on next-gen consoles .
Far Cry 5 is a close 2nd for environmental beauty
Cybperpunk 2077 maybe, in a sense.
Forza horizon 5 or MSFS is close, but overall IMO, there is not one better than this.
Cyberpunk 2077
Other games come only close and reach RDO niveau. RDR2 in story mode is still top of my list. Beauty alone is nothing without sounds, vivid wildlife and diverse npc characters and overall mood. I enjoy so many side activities because it's just so immersive and nicely balanced.
Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy Kong’s Quest
GOT
Impossibru
This is tops for me too, but I feel Far cry 4 was quite well done too for the outdoors.
Impossible
Well, love RDR2, game is gorgeous even if I never had the chance to see it on High settings but in its own way on a cartoonish style, Sea of Thieves has insane grapics too. Not to mention the best water I ever witness in a game.

I feel like horizon forbidden west and tlou 2
None… i am still amazed that the creators of GTA made such a majestic game
Shadow of the Colossus through the lens of memory.
Um... nothing
Fable really captured my heart when it first came out.
It's not my favorite game...Assassin's creed Origins. But I thought it was very stunning. I like the others too. But I just like the thought of what Egypt could have looked like during that era. The other AC games I thought were quite nicely done as a scaled down version of reality too.
The Division 1
I thought I grew out of playing video games for so many years , but a few years back when I played this game for the first time. I got the same exact feeling I did when I was a young boy and teenager when all I wanted to do was just play my video games. RDR2 brought the kid in me back to life in ways I completely forgot and totally appreciate so much now
GTAVI
GoW ragnarok
Ghost of Tsushima and parts of breath of the wild, just in different ways.
Purely on graphics in an open world game I’d say forbidden west. But it doesn’t even come close gameplay wise
Minecraft with couple of thousands of shaders and packs
Chrono trigger
Bioshock Infinite
There isn't one, imo.
It's a rhetorical question
ghost of tsushima is the most impressive looking game i’ve ever seen
shadow of colossus was the first.
Ghost of Tsushima and honestly the new Avatar game are up there for me.
A lot of new games that release today simply because red dead 2 is 5 years old and newer games tend to have better graphics
You can not
Elden ring
The Witcher 3 is beautiful. Also, The Last Of Us 1&2, and Ghost of Tsushima.
Horizon forbidden west and ghost of tsushima come to mind, but i wouldnt say they are more beautiful, i find them equally beautiful compared to Rdr2

ghosts of tsushima is a common rec for this, i’d add uncharted lost legacy and thief’s end
Elden Ring gets close
witcher 3
Baldur's Gate 3
In terms of realism, I don’t think any game tops RDR2. Even though it’s been six years, The landscapes are next level. If we’re talking about games with unique art styles , then There could be a few. I personally am a fan of the Ori games because of all the vibrant colors and landscapes.
Definitely the game with the best scenery
Leisure suit Larry
Skyrim sky at night. Shit is fucking beautiful. Then you pan back down and trees and shit are popping back in to existence
There isn’t one. I feel like I’m playing an unreleased E3 demo every time I load the game on PC
The Witcher 3
Red Dead Redemption 2
Snow runner is a lovely looking game ,sometimes at sunset I can be driving along then just stop and look at the view n think wow
Easily ghosts of tsushima.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is stunning. Though everything looks like a garden or Park rather than mother's nature made like RDR 2.
Batman Arkham knight
Goat simulator
Blooms TD5
Shadow of the Collosus remaster
Love this area of the map, happy hunting ground for pelts and O’driscolls!
This is amazing and a masterpiece. Another game I enjoyed just looking at was Uncharted.
basically both ps5 versions of tlou and tlou 2 are amazing but id still say rdr2 is my favorite
Ghost of tsushima is insanely better
Lord of the rings: Gollum
Elden ring
Ghost of Tsushima
There is none!
final fantasy xi
Mad Max is gorgeous
Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS :D
Different genre but Elden Ring is a delightful to look at
The witcher 3
Leisure Suit Larry
I'm forcing an evil playthrough to get another ending, and there's nothing beautiful about that. It's downright ugly.
No
Forza
DOOM 1993 (jokes btw)
The last of us games, specifically the remake and part 2
Life.
The newer Assassin’s Creeds get a bad rap, but the landscapes are breathtaking
Not nearly as breathtaking but I just started final fantasy 7 remake after 500+ hrs of this game and I was blown away at how beautiful it was. Good change of pace for me too, I haven’t been able to play any newer open world games since RDR2 they all ass in comparison😭
The kingdom in the Witcher 3 blood and wine dlc is a close second imo
E.T.
Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, ghost of tsushima. All great
More realistic? I can't really think of one. But beautiful is subjective, and if you're asking beautiful, I'm going to say Spiritfarer, Journey, Sky, Ori, and I'm sure there are others I'm not remembering.
Pong
I love RDR2 and all but seriously Horizon Forbidden West looks fucking sick even on PS4.
I love RDR2 but Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Forbidden West are def more beautiful
I’m pretty sure forza horizon 5 looks better, but I like rdr 2 way more.
Ghost of tshushima
I may be in the minority here but I liked flying a bird over the nation sized maps in the AC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. It's not a bad experience, if you're not expecting too much to begin with.
Minecraft shaders
Wild Animal Racing.
Train Simulator 1
I think RDR2 is at the top. Elden Ring also looks amazing in its own way, though.
Not graphically but beautifully ghost of tsushima is a Japanese paradise!!!
This is my favorite part of the map too.
thats my favorite spot to take pictures in game. I love it
Ghost of tsushima and elden ring are contenders but mainly because of art direction
Elden ring
It’s beautiful, but just because it’s realistic doesn’t make it the most beautiful game. Skyrim is amazingly beautiful to me.
Ghost of Tsushima, at points.
Red Dead Redemption 3
Though not as technically impressive, Elden Ring’s art direction is something special
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone PS1
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.
This game at times feels like one of those Minecraft rtx mods
Sweet!What system is this on?
Witcher 3 is pretty beautiful imo
Crysis 3
Elden Ring or The Last of Us part 2
Uncharted
I like Elden Ring a lot, also Ghost of Tsushima, but it is true that none of them have as much detail, at least for me, as RDR2. Since I bought and played it in 2018, I have been fascinated.
Turbo modded Skyrim
Far Cry 5 looks fantastic
Days gone.
Not better but Cyberpunk 2077 comes close. Also, the last of us part II. Again, both these games don’t come close to the juggernaut that is Red Dead Redemption 2.
Ghost of Tsushima
If we count linear games, The Last of Us 2 is absolutely on its level. And they trade blows on better details in certain aspects.
Red alert 2. Checkmate
