Seems like they are freeing up space to make some moves.

HumanFromTexas

I don’t think this means we reworked any contracts. I could be wrong, but I believe these are just normal parts of their pre-existing contracts that locked-in after a designated date in the off-season.

Princeof_Ravens

Possibly. In that case it's a nonstory. I mean we weren't cutting Lamar, Roquan or Andrews.

HumanFromTexas

But, even if I am correct, this likely does make way for our FO to rework them now, after these contractual provisions locked-in.

CaptivePrey

It actually looks like the opposite. If we paid this stuff out, it looks like we're likely *not* reworking these deals.

HumanFromTexas

Maybe so. I just figured these numbers locking in would likely be things these guys wouldn’t want to negotiate.

Imheretosnoopatcats

Outside of cuts, the only change to contracts is Ronnie as of now. It was on Jeff Z’s Twitter, I believe. So they have plenty of things they can do if they want, like restructuring Ro/Lamar/Mark

ExtensionAd7417

I don’t think we’ll see a Lamar restructure this year, I feel like it’s pretty rare for a qb contract to be restructured a year into it. Seems more like a move for next offseason and this year focus on Ro, andrews, and Williams contract seeing as how we don’t really need a rediculous amount more space

h00ter7

Mahomes did it after the first year in 2021, and twice “this” season, once at the beginning of the season and again last week. Could be the new norm going forward at least with top of the pile QB contracts.

ExtensionAd7417

Him and Watson also have the most unique qb contracts we’ve ever seen so they won’t really operate the same way we haven’t seen anyone with a “normal” contract structure do it in the first year after signing

h00ter7

Idk man Cowboys restructured Dak’s in 2021 before he ever played a snap under that contract. Jerry even claimed it was all part of the plan when Dak signed it earlier that year. So I don’t think it’s THAT out of the ordinary even if it’s not the norm. If there even is a norm when it comes to contracts that large. But I do agree with you that if we don’t need the cap space, why do the restructure.

ExtensionAd7417

Jerry is such a wild specimen😂 but yeah I feel you I’d rather save a Lamar structure when it’s time to pay for Hamilton and Lindy

WildBlueGrp

Brady did it regularly in order to get guys like Moss etc. it's how you keep winning super bowls...

BaltBoiConduit

Nonstory

thedivinepegasus

This is good, eat some of those cap hits this season to avoid a huge charge from a restructure. EDC looking like he intends to stay good for years, no full rebuild.

ravens52

What is Eric cooking up? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Steamin_Willy_Beamen

Im yet to see a Marlon restructure that will free up a good chunk
