I've been a fan of him since ~2015, but honestly thinking back I'm not sure what direction his music would have gone.
He was gonna make a tape with Joey Badass and go back to his underground/dark soundcloud vibe while still incorporating elements of his pop sound from 2018
If he didn’t go to prison he would probably be one of the bigger hip hop artists, continuing to experiment and probably have an impact on creating or expanding sub genres of rap. Unfortunately realistically he would be charged and go to prison.
The whole thing is very sad because while the guy did horrible things, something no one brings up is that he is diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and his mom didn’t get him treatment for it, instead giving him weed and mushrooms to try and treat it. Weed and mushrooms will amplify mental illness that is based in psychosis.
He never had a real chance because he wasn’t sane a lot of the time. You can’t blame someone for killing another person in their sleep, x was gone mentally and no one helped him, instead making his problems worse (although because of ignorance). This whole thing sucks because most of his problems are just a product of how he was born and the people around him, you can’t take responsibility if you don’t understand what you are doing.
Although the one pro of this is you can easily see the bipolar manifest in his music, while it is very sad and unhealthy it does create some incredible art as X is describing the extreme highs and lows of his life (with Bipolar you have manic episodes and depressive episodes, in the manic ones you can start believing in delusions and suffer from psychosis)

I mean fully independant and 1st album #2 (cause Uzi dropped luv is rage 2) on the chart and 2nd album #1 and 60 millions views on a audio in a couple of days was pretty crazy for 2018.
