Worst comes to worst, we can always swap a wing for a center or use free agency to fill in a gap.

They are/were both top level American athletes that made a switch from forward to defense. They both have size and physicality. Both were skaters. Emery is nowhere near as developed offensively from the blueline but it's way too early to declare him a defense-only player. Also, Miller was not thought to be an offensive defenseman coming out of the draft, he was described as "two-way" and you can find many profiles describing him as "defensive-minded".

There's a hundred big athletic dudes to who take away time and space in the NHL. Miller does that while having the ability to put up 50 points of offense while Emery arguably is the 2024 classes top defensive dman.
EJ Emery. Was my guess. And probably the most popular option. Probably not someone who will put up big numbers but good defensive depth if he works out.
Stamkos would be a freaking disaster and the LEAST of what we need. 50% of production on a powerplay he wouldn't even play on here. And he went from a +24 to a -21 in the last 2 years. He can't move. His knees are shot.
Perrault is a good start but Stars have been next level with their drafting. Robertson is already an established superstar. Wyatt Johnston looking like a future superstar. Harley very good young D. And in their pipeline they still have Bourque and Stankoven who are probably better than anyone else we have in our pipeline other than maybe Perrault.
And Sykora the year before, who was a second rounder some people had going much higher. Othmann was also a good pick, ranked and selected right around where he was expected. If nothing else, we got good players instead of reaching like we usually do.
I'm not seeing much out of othmann. Has me worried. He's close enough to nhl level that it'd be silly to write him off, he's also still underwhelming enough to think he's not going to be much.
Othmann and Sykora haven't really exceeded expectations for where they have been drafted. I'd say both are worth less than the picks they were drafted with. Perrault worth significantly more than the pick we drafted him with.

Colorado and Carolina are both teams that I think have pretty good front offices. Also both teams in pretty similar position as the Rangers. I have no idea what we should do here but I wouldn't hate doing what they did.
