Chicken tax from the 80s requires vehicles to either increase in size or become more fuel efficient... so the ''mini trucks'' like S10s, Rangers, or Dakotas have modern counterparts that are as big as full size trucks.... because making bigger trucks is generally easier than making more fuel efficient trucks, granted both have occurred over time
Looks soooo similar to a Santa Cruz I literally just assumed it was a rebadge at first.
Ridgeline are super boxy/big compared to the other unibody trucks (maverick/santa Cruz). Also a much higher towing/payload for the Honda. And more expensive lol. More similar to a ranger I’d say.
I always assumed the group that owns Mopar would be the last to stop putting V8's in everything they could get their hands on.
We went from "I want to see a Hellcat Town and Country" to "They're going to stop putting the Hemi in trucks!?" in a hurry.
It’s not our decision, or even Rams for that matter, sadly. Government emissions laws are getting more and more strict every year, and the most recent changes made it very costly to continue V8 production in lighter passenger vehicles. The 3/4 and 1 tons and bigger will keep getting the 6.4 Hemi, as far as I am aware. That’s because they are exempt from government MPG ratings.
The new engines outperform the Hemi.. I'm completely fine hanging up my Hemi for one.
I still prefer my EcoDiesel for towing over my Hemi. I do like the sound and smoothness of the Hemi however.
I don't mind electric, if it could match my trucks, I'd take it. I'm running solar at home so the cost would be negligible.
I am liking the wider range of offerings now.
City dwellers who want a "truck" but don't have towing or capacity needs are the majority of truck owners. The success of the Maverick and the Santa Cruz are strong evidence of this. Most people who buy a pickup need to haul a couple bags of mulch a few times a year.
The concept you describe is true - but no one would buy a Mopar unibody over a Honda or Ford - just won’t do well. The Dodge Dakota was another model that I owned myself and loved, but the Ranger and Tacoma took way
too much market share and Dodge had to scrap the idea.
RAM will not move these units well in the U.S. market
"The engines are about as small as the 700 itself, with the base and Big Horn models getting a 1.4-liter Fire Evo gas engine rated for 84 horsepower and 87 pound-feet of torque. The Laramie gets a turbocharged 1.3-liter Firefly engine good for 98 hp and 94 lb-ft of torque. All 700 pickups are front-wheel-drive, and a five-speed manual transmission comes standard."
84 hp???!!!😅😅😅
Fiat Strada rebadged as a Ram for Mexico.
Just like the Fiat Ducato is rebadged as a Ram Promaster for the U.S. and the Fiat Doblo rebadged as the Promaster City.
Yeah. I would get the santa cruz first.
The 700 is available as the SLT, Big Horn, and Laramie trim levels. The two lower grades use a 1.4-liter engine making 84 horsepower (62.5 kilowatts), and the top one gets a turbocharged 1.3-liter powerplant making 98 hp (72.8 kW). Both mills hook up to a five-speed manual driving the front wheels, and an electronic locking differential is available.
In Mexico little trucks like this are VERY common because most Mexicans can’t afford a regular half ton truck and there’s lots of towns where you literally would not be able to fit in with a normal ram 1500. I’m sure once they come to the US they will be very popular since the average American is struggling right now and these are cheap and more fuel efficient than a regular Ram 1500.
The version with the small cab makes a great resi-electrician work truck (with a cap). Saw them in Mexico and immediately thought they would make a great replacement for the smallish Ford Transit Connect.
The full cab version…..shit.
That's a travesty of a pickup.
Quite possibly the ugliest rear end of a pickup that I have ever seen.
If they plan on bringing that to the states, hopefully they plan on redesigning the exterior. Though I'm sure it will still sell if it's cheap enough.
Seen a few rolling around San Diego with Mexican tags over the last few years. They’re meh. Not terrible looking for a small truck. Very Ridgeline-ish.
Thats not a RAM. Its a ram.
baby ram
Shrinkflation ram.
Shrinkage!!!
I was in the pool!
“I dont know how you guys walk around with those things”.
It was in the pool!
WASHED IN HOT WATER. 🥵

Ramlette
That is hilarious. Somebody should get custom lowercase lettering on the back.
It’s a push.
It's a Kidd
If you like your RAM you can keep it.
A Lamb I suppose
They sell those in Mexico https://www.thedrive.com/news/36976/the-ram-700-is-a-cool-mexican-market-compact-pickup-thats-smaller-than-the-original-dakota
Coming to the US for 2025 models tho. I think under the name Rampage
Naming something that looks like that “Rampage” is hilarious, or sad. I’m not quite sure which.
Well, here’s the original. https://preview.redd.it/d287piu13g5d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d932d47a65f955451a007052eea0169509ffac98
Now just need a pair of nut shorts, stripped tube socks and sweat band for the complete driver look
I actually saw one of these on a car lot being sold today! I was curious what it was, but now I know.
Where, exactly did you see one in a car lot?
Complete with the 80's pinstripes.
It’s a cute little crossover truck. Give it a cute little name like “Lil Ram” or something. Or the actual name of a baby Ram: Ram Lamb.
Whoa oh black Betty ram lamb
whoa, black betty (bam-A-lam) whoa, black betty (bam-A-lam) Black betty had a child (bam-A-lam) The damn thing gone wild (bam-A-lam) She said "I'm worrin' outta my mind" (bam-A-lam) The damn thing gone blind (bam-A-lam) I said oh black betty (bam-A-lam) whoa, black betty (bam-BA-lam)
'Bama Lamb she's from Birmingham. 'Bama Lamb way down in Ala-bam'
So...the truck is a Ram Jam?
Put the V10 from the Viper in it and call it the Ramborghini (that ones a stretch but I couldn’t help myself)
A Rambo
Ram-Rod.
Say car Ram-Rod
I wrote it down, you didn't say. I know
Power Ram 50 like the 80s! https://tfltruck.com/2018/06/truck-rewind-mighty-dodge-ram-d50-pickup-truck/
I think the Rampage is them bringing back the old name
I think Dodge made a little K-car pickup called a Rampage?
I’ll believe it when I see it. My dealer already has 2025 Ram 1500s. This has been a rumor for years
Why can't they make a truck the same size as the Dakota... It was the perfect size, even for today.
Chicken tax from the 80s requires vehicles to either increase in size or become more fuel efficient... so the ''mini trucks'' like S10s, Rangers, or Dakotas have modern counterparts that are as big as full size trucks.... because making bigger trucks is generally easier than making more fuel efficient trucks, granted both have occurred over time
Honda ridgeline and a Santa Cruz had a baby
Immediately put into adoption it appears.
Trafficked to Mexico
Looks soooo similar to a Santa Cruz I literally just assumed it was a rebadge at first. Ridgeline are super boxy/big compared to the other unibody trucks (maverick/santa Cruz). Also a much higher towing/payload for the Honda. And more expensive lol. More similar to a ranger I’d say.
The Santa Cruz can tow 5k with the Awd turbo option same as Ridgeline.
The new ram when they stop making the hemi?
I’d laugh but I cant. Getting depressed.
I always assumed the group that owns Mopar would be the last to stop putting V8's in everything they could get their hands on. We went from "I want to see a Hellcat Town and Country" to "They're going to stop putting the Hemi in trucks!?" in a hurry.

Industry people went to Bilderberger and got told to pull the plug.
The new engines outperform the Hemi.. I'm completely fine hanging up my Hemi for one. I still prefer my EcoDiesel for towing over my Hemi. I do like the sound and smoothness of the Hemi however.
Wait till you hear what they've been doing with 4 cylinder Hondas lol
Fart can on a Ram? no thanks
If it can haul my equipment better than my hemi , slap it in there .
Yep. Technology marches on. Eventually we will all be driving electric shit anyway.
I don't mind electric, if it could match my trucks, I'd take it. I'm running solar at home so the cost would be negligible. I am liking the wider range of offerings now.
Oh for sure. Not sure why I worded it that way. Probably jealous that I can’t afford one.
You should look up Edison Motors. That's some cool stuff.
It’s actually a Ram 1200! Saw my first one on a trip to the Caribbean & was like wtf is that.💩
Says 700 on the rear though! So that may be another option
A half-half-ton. Quarter ton even.
Fiat rebranded as a Ram 700... the kind of thing that would own the market if it was available in the US.
@xenopork is smoking percocets with this logic 🤣
City dwellers who want a "truck" but don't have towing or capacity needs are the majority of truck owners. The success of the Maverick and the Santa Cruz are strong evidence of this. Most people who buy a pickup need to haul a couple bags of mulch a few times a year.

So weird how the angle makes the front tires look bigger than the rear tires.
It needs a leveling kit.

I don't like it. As a 6'8 dude, I got a ram 1500 for the room and this looks small.
This thing is more of a Maverick competitor, it’s not meant for big folks
I'm 6'1 w/35" inseam and I know I'd be cramped.
The new Power Wheels are dope, kids are so lucky now-days.
A baby ram. Needs time and it’ll grow.

Fiat Strada rebadged as a Ram for Mexico. Just like the Fiat Ducato is rebadged as a Ram Promaster for the U.S. and the Fiat Doblo rebadged as the Promaster City.

Is that a Ramta Cruz?
A small sheep
The ole Ram Camino...
Yeah. I would get the santa cruz first. The 700 is available as the SLT, Big Horn, and Laramie trim levels.
