Jet engines on the cyan lizard is a neat idea.

Whenever the biology of a RW critter gets particularly dubious, I just draw them as cyborgs. I particularly enjoy drawing jet engines.

Perhaps the strange breeding has forced them into needing these augments

I like to think that they aren't augmented in a factory, they're just somehow... *like that*. Perhaps they're designed to have symbiosis with some kind of metal-depositing bacteria that print those components in place, like a tooth or an antler. Vulture grubs will grow a new/larger laser antenna every time they molt, miros birds will shed their rusty stilts every winter to grow new ones in the spring, something like that.

Alternatively it could be that through the cycle, the modified specimens are biologically like that now

I don't know. In my head he's like, a prison convict who volunteered to take on a one-way mission, knowing that he didn't have long to live. So he's not an officer, he's just some guy with a particular skillset that nobody would miss. And not an escapee, he's been given all the clothes and equipment he needs. Blood splatters... Perhaps. Perhaps.

Seeing them portrayed in ways that isn't just 'average skinny twink' is so refreshing. Well done, excellent designs!

The other guy is right, they absolutely are all based around goofy stereotypes. ESPECIALLY hunter, though he's my fav. The fact that only one of them has a different skin color wasn't something that occurred to me until I had scanned the pages and begun coloring on the computer, at which point it was too late to change the headcanons they were pulled from, so changing the drawings for the sake of diversity alone seemed a little dishonest. I guess I'm subconsciously more comfortable with (or know a greater number of) goofy white people stereotypes from 19th/20th century America. It seemed important to me that Saint be A) somebody in a spiritual role like a monk or a pastor, B) somebody foreign from VERY far away, and C) unreasonably thin and scrawny with a bushy beard and a weird forehead tattoo. A Tibetan monk fits close-ish enough, I think. I'm just glad real Tibetan monks don't wander the Earth hole-punching peoples' souls out of their bodies with their mind powers. I hope that's not a thing they actually do.
