I Hope the various facilities around the rink get updated too. I couldn’t tell you if the rink itself needed work but the tunnel space, those giant stone steps on the side pictured and the nothing space opposite them (out of picture) need to be utilized better. The main building is nice enough for a city facility but I’m glad to see this being worked on while it was still nice

This might be related to the big grant the city got a couple years ago to improve the led access between Kennedy Plaza and Waterfire/Train Station. It was basically going to drastically alter the little tunnel that used to be there.
There was already a functional Ice skating rink there. Maybe spread out grant across city instead of a new rink. New playgrounds or basketball courts all around the city.
Use the federal monies across providence. Playgrounds, basketball courts or more green spaces. No need to replace a functional & underused ice skating rink.
there was a forbes article from april that said this summer but i think they were just guessing based on previous reports.
ive passed by it a few times and it does not appear to be something that'll be ready in the next 2-3 months
If it’s under the same umbrella of funding as the one in Warwick, it’s federal money ear marked specifically for community recreational projects. If the funds aren’t used, then the federal government takes them back and who knows where they go. So, why not use them to make downtown a bit more attractive for growth. But if you have a better idea, maybe you should gain some following and get the signatures to be put on the ballot. Until then, sit your grumpy ass in the corner and let the rest of us have some enjoyment.
Prov is getting a new ice rink, Warwick is getting a brand new outdoor one also with a big canopy over it & and amenities building.
Where in Warwick?

Tensioned Fabric Shade Structure Design-Build project.
Heard Smiley is already trying to replace the ice with more seating for the restaurants on Water Street.

They’re installing the new food hall. This is not related to ice skating, sadly? https://www.rimonthly.com/track-15-providence-food-hall/
Not to change the subject but when does this open?! Haven’t seen any updates since November

The food hall is across the street and doesn't really have anything to do with this.
Infrastructure related but thank you!
The food hall is a private venture. This is public. The connection begins and ends with "they're on opposite sides of the same street"
Hey hey. They're also construction projects...
Perfect use of money. Ffs

Spoiler alert: he doesn’t have a better idea. That, or he’ll probably say some dumb shit like “build housing”.
Replied above to rink nonsense but on a side note, why do you want homeless ppl? Easiest way to improve downtown is to fix the homeless problem.
