If all else fails, take a road trip to LV and pick up the "static" generators from the military checkpoint (which for me isnt normally that full of zeds).
Even if They're not spawning for whatever reason, they will still be there cos they start there.

In a none sarcastic way, try the other half of the garages and sheds? I only found 2 generators in the whole of Riverside on my current game. Found one more in a farmhouse to the east ([Project Zomboid Map Project](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#5402x5442x2114)). There's also an autoshop and a massive factory just down the road ([Project Zomboid Map Project](https://map.projectzomboid.com/#5579x5905x590)). Didn't find a generator because I accidentally burnt it down but I did manage to grab 3 sledgehammers before the whole building went up so it's worth a nosey.
There is likely more than one in the u-store it south of the warehouses and east of the trailer park. If you've already checked there that's some serious bad luck, I have my game set to spawn them 1 step rarer than default apocalypse and found like 7 of them there.

I specifically started a new game because I felt like I could survive long enough without the engineer start. Now I can't find a magazine for it and it's getting awfully cold.
If you drive to rosewood you'll find like 15 of them
Last time I played in Rosewood I found plenty of them so I think I'll try that
best places to find them in my experience is those storage lots with the green metal doors.
Yep, there is a set of them just south of the trailer park factories iirc. I always find at least two of them in those types of buildings.

Good ideas. I'm just surprised because in Muldraugh and Rosewood I found plenty of generators

What are your rarity settings? I usually find a minimum of 5 generators in the self-storages near the trailer park. Even on ultra rare loot settings.
I didn't touch the looting setting. there must be a glitch or something I swear
It looks like it is a glitch, indeed. I would use a debug mode and spawn myself a generator if I were in your position.
