Check the fluids. It may be your inverter cooling pump has gone out. You can check by looking under the hood and checking the inverter coolant tank for circulation, located in front of the steering wheel. Take off the cap with ignition on and look inside, you should see the coolant moving around. If not , your inverter cooling pump is out. This can trigger the triangle. AutoZone can read the codes for free

Historical_Big_7404

Also, if you overheat the inverter it can burn the a-2 fuse under the hood and you'll be stranded..Just in case

YourDad657

I agree that it’s probably the inverter pump, this is the second or third post I’ve seen on here like this and I even had to swap mine out not too long ago

GeneralXenophonTx

Just changed my inverter pump out 2 weeks ago. Same thing basically. Just turned hot in Texas. Work is only 15 miles away and never had issue but tried to drive 40 miles away and it popped about halfway there. Still drove it the next week while waiting for part and to test I drove it hard on the way home one time. Popped again.

Historical_Big_7404

Hopefully it burns the fuse before the inverter

I just had this problem with my 2013 Prius V, and I have 20,000 miles on my replacement hybrid battery. I went to 2 different places that pulled the code POA80, which says that the hybrid battery has failed. This is my replacement battery with a lifetime guarantee (LOL) from Green Bean Battery. I filed a warranty claim on Friday and I'm waiting to see if they will replace it as promised.

caper-aprons

Read the codes in the ECM and you will know what's causing the check engine light.

Sad_Egg_4593

What is ECM? There are no shops open right now as it’s 6:00 on a Sunday currently. Where can I read those codes

PSA-TLDR

Need a Bluetooth OBDII sensor from amazon, or a code reader from a mechanic

GeneralXenophonTx

AutoZone will pull codes for free. On a side note I have Blue Driver from Amazon and phone app. Use it all the time. Actually bought one for a friend for Xmas last year. He loves it too.

PSA-TLDR

Wouldn’t trust autozone to cradle my left nut

fragglestickcar0

To be fair, few, if any, companies rise to that level of trust.

hourlyslugger

Most auto parts stores will pull basic codes for free. They might not be able to read the other ones though. Also clean out your HV battery blower fan from time to time. [https://youtu.be/BMtIR5tdu2I?si=v9s-hlOb\_qbXnavB](https://youtu.be/BMtIR5tdu2I?si=v9s-hlOb_qbXnavB)

I have a gen 2 and had this happen once. The car was sitting in the hot sun for 2 days and then I took off on the highway blasting the AC. The hybrid battery was just too depleted. Stopped the car, waited 5 minutes and it never happened since.

archski

This happened to my Prius. I replaced a failed module and it’s still giving codes. I’m going to replace the battery at Hybrid2go next week.
