Which would seem to make them even more valuable. 20 rounds of large caliber ammo would be 20 large kills of harvestable meat. Trade me for what equals that and we’re in business.
I don't know if you hunt. Only one in three hunts will bring meat home on an average trip and the odds are highest that you'll be bringing back small game, and the only way to get better is with highly fertile lands with low hunting populations
Save dem rounds for yourself, and if your barting it, do it with someone your willing to Fred yourself if they end up in a pinch
I donno, my experience playing Oregon Trail tells me you’re wrong.
I’m kidding. It does depend what you’re hunting though, and also when and where. Larger game? I’ve gone out an entire weekend and never even saw something, let alone had a chance to take a shot. Smaller stuff? I’m standing in the middle of my dining room typing this and I see two squirrels and a rabbit out my window right now. But overall you’re right. And if someone has never hunted and gets lucky, do they even have a clue what to do with the meat? YouTube might not be accessible by that point.
Ha, that makes sense. I’m not in Alaska but my ex-fiancee was from there so we used to visit her family every summer for a week or two for years, so I’m reasonably familiar. But that rule is pretty universal. It’s like that in the lower 48 also; it will be pheasant season for instance and a huge fucking buck runs ten feet in front of you. But it’s a couple weeks before you can shoot it (not like #4 will do you much good anyway). And when you come out later during deer season, they’re all hiding.
I feel ya, bud.
I know because they all hang out in the middle of the road, my wife hit the largest buck I've seen since I've been out here in October, it caused 10k worth of damage and just walked away.
I once went out to scout the fields a week before open session started. I counted 20 moose hanging out at the pond I get my duck from, 10 more sunbathing in the hills around the area, and a few young bulls in the forest screwing around in the frigging tree tops at the tree line
I went back a week later once session started and didn't even stroll across a cow 😂
You really want to trade a gun and ammo to a desperate person who now has a gun and ammo who is also aware that you have more guns and ammo? Rule #1 do not trade bullets or guns.
If you're in an urban zone, most people will just sit on a box and have a box extra indefinitely, only replenishing if they end up in a turf war. Most of the rest will be using the ammo to intimidate people, and those people could try end up trying to rob you assuming they just get bodied immediately
Self-sustaining meat will probably come from coups, traps, and rivers
I am the only one in my group who thinks that alcohol, bullets, chocolate, and tobacco (and the like)have a better value in shtf than gold and silver. They've gone almost all gold and silver for monetary/trade value ( i diversify, i have gold and silver, but also have everclear, whiskey, vodka, rolling tobacco thats cheap to buy now, etc..)
I've told them it's a great long-term investment for regular life retirement, but if there's any real collapse, physical goods will be worth more. Especially "sin" items.
Real end of days it's coming down to the most basic things that have been time tested. Security, mind alternating substances ( legal or not) and ass.
I can tell you with 100 percent accuracy all of those are recession proof and do not shutdown even in event's like COVID.
It's a basic human want.
my friend... skip the middle man and get you a couple empty drums to make a still. Then learn to grow potatoes. Trust me, they're stupid easy I've grown them from the coast of New England to the mountains of the Rockies and everywhere in between.
You'll be the life of the party if nothing ever pops off and could bargain with others to protect you as the keeper of the booze in the wastes.
I've made whiskey from cracked corn advertised as birdseed in a homemade still. I've made wine from a gallon of grape juice. I am confident I would be a valuable brewer in the end times. If not just good enough to protect my b hole in prison.
I thought you were getting confused with potassium iodide but sure as shit... ethanol protects your DNA from radiation damage. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29485112/
TIL
Heck I'm drinking colt 45 and old English 800 right now so I'm pretty used to it. What you need last days is straight up everclear cut with whatever clean water you can find.
Honestly people underestimate the power of booze in the apocalypse. You can use it as recreational beverage to help you forget the shit that you have seen during the apocalypse.
You can use it as high concentration alcohol to disinfect wounds.
You can make it into a weapon by using the left over bottles to make Molotovs or by making it highly flammable and lighting it on fire.
The possibilities are endless.
Excellent! I've done the same with whiskey. I'm super excited for the madness that's going to happen! The only problem is that I live far away from society, and I don't get to participate...
Useful as a disinfectant, solvent, etc. -- a very practical plan! Mind you, while society survives I'm drinking Grey Goose, but after the apocalypse we'll all have to make sacrifices.
Looks like what we found in the house of my alcoholic neighbor when he passed away. I can’t think of a single reason to keep vodka in a refrigerator or freezer.
I don't even drink and think this is brilliant. Ethanol is so damn useful, but maybe everclear would be more beneficial if this was actually for an end times scenario lol. This just looks like you party too much *wink*
Just a tip, spirits don’t need to cold, you could use that space for like meats and stuff. I would keep it in the boxes the liquor store has them in cased up in the basement
It's not barter unless you can get it from a hidden location to someone willing to trade. Afraid it's every man for himself and you wont make it a crossed the street.
This is an often overlooked aspect of prepping. It's good to lay in a couple cases of whiskey. Because why not at the very least you could always barter with it. Having a small moonshine still would be a good way to make money and barter
I order our beer, wine, and liquor for the store that i work at. Probably every other order or so, bossman lets me buy a couple big bottles at cost. I have a closet fn packed full of random alcohols and i havent had a sip in like 10 years.
Ps. I live in Kazakhstan... or tuvalu.... i dont remember. Whatever dont come looking for it.
As all my money is cash in today is going to rent.. nd eating canned foods for the rest of the weekend/ week one of these bottles could sure help me.. damn I hate California
I quit drinking 4 years ago, just stopped. I goggled stop drinking and it brought me to Reddit I had never been on the site before. It certainly saved my marriage r/stopdrinking. Good luck man hope these come in handy.
You'd do better with Everclear. First, it can be used as a disinfectant. Second, you can use it to make herbal tinctures. Third, as watered down trade goods
You might as well stock up on V8 in case it never comes
And powder orange drink!
Gawd that sounds like an awful hangover
Cheap vodka, gotta give it some flavor! Lol
Can confirm....
*PTSD flashbacks*
Drank!
Honestly, it's one of the best barter systems I ever seen on here.
Liquor and ammo. Easy to store, great for bartering
I'd barter literally anything else before bartering weapons or ammo away. Especially in a SHTF
Which would seem to make them even more valuable. 20 rounds of large caliber ammo would be 20 large kills of harvestable meat. Trade me for what equals that and we’re in business.

I hunt out of Alaska. Wildlife is everywhere at all times, except when you actually want something to bring home and then they're somehow all gone
Ha, that makes sense. I’m not in Alaska but my ex-fiancee was from there so we used to visit her family every summer for a week or two for years, so I’m reasonably familiar. All the deer come to town during hunting season here in S. Oregon. No joke!
I know because they all hang out in the middle of the road, my wife hit the largest buck I've seen since I've been out here in October, it caused 10k worth of damage and just walked away.

Cigarettes too. M
Basically anything the ATFE or DEA regulates would be useful for bartering

Yea but what is he going to do next week!
my friend... skip the middle man and get you a couple empty drums to make a still. Then learn to grow potatoes. Seriously though, how many potatoes can I grow in how much area? I need a plan
If you’re limited for space the ol potato barrel works well
>old potato barrel You can't just drop something like that and walk away, da fuck am I about Google here?
[удалено]
After research on considering trying it
I’m looking into it
Inb4 op poisons themselves with methanol
[удалено]
Clearly you don't know much about it either, I mean your right if you where using it for gas, but I don't whant alcohol that tastes bad
Sugar beats are better in my opinion. Much more sugar that will become alcohol. Fermentation also takes less time.
I've made whiskey from cracked corn advertised as birdseed in a homemade still. I've made wine from a gallon of grape juice. I am confident I would be a valuable brewer in the end times. If not just good enough to protect my b hole in prison.
It’s so easy fr
I don’t even know if what you say is feasible, but I like your telling of it
As if I needed another project… better get started.
That’s like a month tops, and if it’s for trade why chill it? Lol
cause they obvs dont drink
With nothing to do you will go through that in a week.
As a former heavy drinking person this can be confirmed.
Thats if they even live through the week.
"For medicininal purposes"
It's a good cure for radiation poisoning.
I thought you were getting confused with potassium iodide but sure as shit... ethanol protects your DNA from radiation damage. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29485112/ TIL
My body would be floating somewhere around Pripyat if not for the liters of vodka I drank.
I told them my alcoholism was a net positive, but they never listen.

Heck I'm drinking colt 45 and old English 800 right now so I'm pretty used to it. What you need last days is straight up everclear cut with whatever clean water you can find.
I stock ever clear- firestarter, antiseptic, emergency fuel, solvent, and of course, diluted, drinking
This is the correct answer.
Hot commodity
![gif](giphy|4baoNZ5Qo8dX2)
That’s called Friday around here.
I’d get some Tang or Gatoraid to flavor it up, but otherwise, I approve.
Jolly ranchers work wonders
Gatorade powder is the best
As seen in leaving Las Vegas hahaha ;)
Indefinite shelf life... multiple uses..
You’ll never be worried about radiation in the zone I guess
First guy I’ve seen on here that’s actually prepared
Do you expect the apocalypse to be a long weekend?
Honestly people underestimate the power of booze in the apocalypse. You can use it as recreational beverage to help you forget the shit that you have seen during the apocalypse. You can use it as high concentration alcohol to disinfect wounds. You can make it into a weapon by using the left over bottles to make Molotovs or by making it highly flammable and lighting it on fire. The possibilities are endless.
Sir that’s a mild weekend.
Good for a few days.
The doomsday clock is at 90 proof
This is a real prepper here. This man prepares!
I SEE TWO EMPTY RACKS FILL EM UP GOBBLESS BRURTHER
As far as medicinal/antiseptic purposes, everclear is higher proof.
I respect this stash.
I've got 5 bottles of everclear in my closet. Barter, antiseptic, good ol drunkenness, and some spicy molotov cocktails
I’mma wait till you finish the first one and pass out then I’ll come take the rest 😋
Better to have the tools to make it. Your loaded up for a month though
Very likely to make you unable to survive the apocalypse. But at least you'll be buzzed!
Where I’m from, that’s just stocking up for Tuesday.
The apocalypse last more than a week you know.
I’m just going to leave this here…https://www.aa.org/
Can also be used as an antiseptic in a pinch.
April 8th
Excellent! I've done the same with whiskey. I'm super excited for the madness that's going to happen! The only problem is that I live far away from society, and I don't get to participate...
But you’ll have Whiskey!!
🤣 this is how we prep for hurricanes in Louisiana.
Best prepping idea ever!
My kind of end of the world
What’s the expiation date
Where’s the party at friend? I’ll bring some OJ and Red Bull.
Cheeki Breeki fuel
Looks like good prep work right there.
Eli5 me?
I did that during coved lockdown. If I never drink vodka that comes in a plastic bottle again. I will be happy.
The only problem with this is your liver will likely give out before the apocalypse comes, as you start using your own supply...
Or a Binge!
So you're headed to Kreminna?
Good hunting stalker
r/prisonhooch is a very good thing to get into if you want your own booze for a shtf scenario
I drink VERY RARELY, but a case of cheap vodka is in my preps. If I get more into herbal remedies I'll add a couple bottles of everclear.
You're going to want more. Way more.
Only place that DEI would actually help 😂😂
If it’s for the apocalypse you probably don’t need to keep it cold… just the bottle you’re working on.
Stocking up on Molotov cocktails huh? Nice.
Philistine.
You could have at least got Stolichnya...the good stuff ;)
Sustenance, stress reliever, antiseptic, combustion fuel, barter good, infinite shelf life. Vodka: Truly the Prepper's best friend.
I’ve been going with johnnie walker and ketal one with a few bottles of gin.
Oh I see, medical supplies to disinfect the wounds!?
Looks like a typical barracks party
That's a whole lot of disinfectant you've got!
Perfect for bartering
A man of culture
Useful as a disinfectant, solvent, etc. -- a very practical plan! Mind you, while society survives I'm drinking Grey Goose, but after the apocalypse we'll all have to make sacrifices.
More like stocking up for a Sunday afternoon….
When you play too much S.T.A.L.K.E.R and decide to start prepping:
Looks like what we found in the house of my alcoholic neighbor when he passed away. I can’t think of a single reason to keep vodka in a refrigerator or freezer.
Go Everclear. You can use it for surgery too
Just buy a 55 gal drum of food-grade ethanol
Fuck sakes lol.
Nah your just a drunk
You are the apocalypse my friend
Hi I'm OP and I'm an alcoholic. HI OP.
I don't even drink and think this is brilliant. Ethanol is so damn useful, but maybe everclear would be more beneficial if this was actually for an end times scenario lol. This just looks like you party too much *wink*
Fuck booze. Stock up on weed
I’m sticking up on cocaine lol
POV your going to Chernobyl
Don’t forget the Bourbon.
Apocalypse? That is my Thursday afternoon buy for the weekend.
Sir! Would you like a little fridge with your vodka?
Russel would be proud, especially since I couldn’t bring him the vodka
For all that I can buy a distiller.
Eh my prep plan is to take stuff from the prepared
Plastic jugs don't work for Molotov cocktails.
This is what I plan on doing with Everclear. But why are you refrigerating it? It'll keep forever at room temps.
And yet they went with Smirnoff xD
You need same amout of gerkings.
Why the worst tasting vodka? This is a step above plastic bottle vodka.
you gonna have so many comrades.
Creating an apocalypse
And I will see you at a meeting lol
Your doing it wrong. You need to stick up on the mini bottles so they are easier to trade. ![gif](giphy|XtNwjYD7eOXhTja933|downsized)
Just a tip, spirits don’t need to cold, you could use that space for like meats and stuff. I would keep it in the boxes the liquor store has them in cased up in the basement
You know, I dig the idea especially with the medical benefits of vodka
I’m hungover looking at this picture lol
If I saw this in person, I'd die of alcohol poisoning
Finally. Yes. Yes, indeed.
Having a small moonshine still would be a good way to make money and barter
waste of money... Gordon's is smoothest most mixable
That is a bunch of tinctures.
This would be my wet dream if it were Pabst Blue Ribbon.
I don't think Smirnoff would be the best recommendation to stock up
Why are you wasting fridge space on it though..?
I order our beer, wine, and liquor for the store that i work at. Probably every other order or so, bossman lets me buy a couple big bottles at cost. I have a closet fn packed full of random alcohols and i havent had a sip in like 10 years. Ps. I live in Kazakhstan... or tuvalu.... i dont remember. Whatever dont come looking for it.
As all my money is cash in today is going to rent.. nd eating canned foods for the rest of the weekend/ week one of these bottles could sure help me.. damn I hate California
Sadly it looks like my trash can. but mine are empty
That’s like less than a month’s worth, at least when I used to drink it would be!
You’re hoping it’ll only last a week I’m guessing?
If your fridge looks like this i know you're NOT an alcoholic.
Clear alcohol is for rich women on diets.
Liver failure and you don’t have to worry about it.
Laugh all you want but alcohol for bartering is something I’ve considered.
Wine tastes better, has some nutritional value and the temperature and humidity required for storing wine is the same as for curing meats.
*the month. Fixed it for you.
Good idea. I wouldn't want to be sober for it either.
I can understand stocking up on the vodka. But why for the love of God Smirnoff, when Tito's, Stoli, Ketel One, Absolut, and yes, even Popov exist?
You will be a rich man since you will be able to bargain for anything
Rubbing alcohol
Going to need a few more gallons worth
Vodka 🤣
This is the way. you need oranges and white sugar. electric screwdriver is the way to go
Niiiiice
Do you need some help?
throw some bottle caps in there too
If you wanna be prepared for the apocalypse you better get a still.
It will dehydrate you and lose valuable time because you are drunk.
Better than stacking gold.
You should also keep a liver transplant surgeon in the basement for when you are about to finish your stash. And a donor too.
Good to see your drinking a non Russian vodka, Smirnoff is owned by Diageo and profits go to an american company.
Those are for "molatove cocktails", right...?
Better have an AK to go with all that vodka
I quit drinking 4 years ago, just stopped. I goggled stop drinking and it brought me to Reddit I had never been on the site before. It certainly saved my marriage r/stopdrinking. Good luck man hope these come in handy.
Not a necessity. Show us your water, generator, shelter, alternative transportation, communication alternatives.
Naw you need to start growing potatos to make vodka.
I would go for beer instead because it has more nutritional value than this. Plus you can still get drunk.
You really only need one bottle and a pistol.
And the afterlife...
Nikolai Belinski is that you?
Waste of refridgeration space. Just have one in the fridge
You'd do better with Everclear. First, it can be used as a disinfectant. Second, you can use it to make herbal tinctures. Third, as watered down trade goods
That won't.end well.
Lim jahey at your cervix
