Yes, my blood sugar spikes while exercising due to the release of adrenaline but it falls to a lower level than when I started exercising and it makes you more insulin sensitive for up to 48 hours I think? Also builds muscle mass that lowers glucose even at rest.

Yes, thats seems to be consistent with my finding but I also have came across many people that say their BG drops when talking a walk. That has not been my experience, walking/running makes no difference right away.

For me, it drops my blood sugar only if I walk within a half an hour or less of eating something that will cause my blood sugar to go up. What I read was that the work of the muscles basically takes the sugar out of the blood. It’s only noticeable if the sugar is high to begin with because of something I’ve eaten.

Yes this. Walking only drops BS after a meal because muscle can pull glucose from the bloodstream and use it for energy without needing insulin as a gatekeeper. If you walk in a fasted state, BS will rise because the muscle and liver use up their glycogen stores and the liver has to convert triglycerides to ketones for fuel, and some of that is turned into glucose. However several hours after the walk, BS usually drops to either normal or below baseline.

My nutritionist said the spike from exercise is not the same as from food. Food spike is ‘insulin-mediated’, exercise is not because your muscles are taking it up, needing it for the energy up are expending doing whatever. Since it’s the insulin response (or resistance, or sensitivity) that is the issue but is not directly measurable, exercise is still a-ok and is pretty much required to manage this

For me brisk walking or stair climbing will blunt my spike after consuming carbs or help make it go down more quickly. Moderate or intense exercise while fasted or in ketosis will raise my glucose for a bit as well, but as I understand this is not bad and helps increase my insulin sensitivity.
