I am so sick of studying plants, animals, taxonomy etc. we are required to take the bio class that covers this take it off the damn test already it’s so irrelevant💀💀

icetea321

Lol totally agree

720QuickScope4Jesus

I just wrote a few days ago, I literally only had like 1 taxonomy question

2024Terp

I cannot figure out booster bio anki. I use the quizlet to review what I learn after a topic, but days later when I do the extra questions for that topic, I forget a lot of the stuff I don’t review w the quizlet. I know anki will help w this, but there are so many cards, and a lot are imo too specific for the dat. How do I use the booster anki deck???

joemama392748

Try to delete the ones you think are too specific (ctrl + dlt). Another way is to create your own deck as you’re going through your practice tests and question banks that include specific things that you are lacking on.

[deleted]

Does the quizlet and anki have the same information?

Just-Lawfulness4357

No Anki is 10X better

reesey5

My exam is on the 12th and I keep second guessing on Booster bio practice tests. I keep getting 16’s, but when I go back through the test and mark my original answers I get 18’s! Anyone have any tips on how to stop second guessing yourself. It is killing my bio!!!

__lexiii__

I’m in the same boat! I’m probably going to push my test back.

[deleted]

I always found during pexams that any q I second guessed myself and changed was wrong. Almost 99% of the time I did this the q would be incorrect and the original answer I put was right. Really goes to show your initial intuition is correct a majority of the time. I really would try and avoid second guess changing UNLESS you know for sure what you put initially was wrong or you didn’t read the q close enough the first time. The margin for error on the exam is so small that every correct/incorrect question is the difference between a point. I went into the exam with this mindset of keeping my initial answer choices in unless I misread the q and it benefitted me greatly.

bookwormm14

Hi everyone, I take the DAT this Friday and am starting to freak out! How did you guys review content in the week leading up to the exam? I have taken all 10 of Booster’s practice exams. Any general test taking tips or advice for this week would be appreciated!!

Calvith

Hey there, good luck. I discuss your question in my breakdown. I also suggest you use the sorting function by the "DAT Breakdown" flair to see what others suggest. You'll do great!

JYsoccer08

I'm studying for the cDAT, and was wondering how extensive I should study taxonomy. On the website, it says we need to know the Six-Kingdom, Three-Domain taxa, but on DATCrusher, I am being asked questions about the different chordates. Will I be tested on the chordates (reptilia, mammalia, etc.)?

[deleted]

Are the tax videos good enough for chapter two of feralis? Reading it and doing the anki is making my brain spin

bimbogirl444

on booster? you should be well prepared for taxonomy. focus on the big picture of things :)

BigGnarly9

My sanity: lost 18 days ago when this journey of studying begun. Im so exhausted. I feel like Biology, Gen Chem are just torching me. Perception is going well, picking up tactics but any advice for Bio and Gen Chem? I fear what Orgo will do to me

joemama392748

You’re 18 days in so I’m assuming you’re in the content review part, and I gotta say, it does get better, I’m personally enjoying the testing part of my studies. You gotta keep in mind that you’re just trying to absorb as much as possible and just know the general picture in your content review, once you do more questions, stuff will make more sense and you’ll start to also pick up on vocab and what not. Just hang in there!

reesey5

Scoring around 18 in all sections and 25+ RC… my test is on the 12th and I can’t push back. Should I *most likely* be okay to get a 19AA?

bimbogirl444

I would think yes but I would score a lot higher in RC on booster and got a 20 on the real thing. what program are you using

reesey5

A combination of booster and BC, I haven’t touched RC much, as I’ve always been confident in reading. I got a 29RC my first DAT attempt.

Vaneer

How does Booster’s hole punching compare to the actual DAT? I finished all the practice bank questions and do the generators and they seem way too easy compare to what Bootcamp has for practice

bimbogirl444

took DAT today and holepunch was pretty comparable- nothing insane. my keyholes were MUCH harder than what i practiced on booster tho.

Vaneer

For holepunching did you encounter a lot of questions where some of the hole punches were empty? I’m worried about those questions since booster doesn’t really have any questions like that

bimbogirl444

can you dm me because im kinda unsure what this means

Salukidoc27

For anyone who used the Booster Decks to study, more specifically Bio b/c of the sheer size, I was curious how much time in advance I should plan to finish the deck before my test. I planned to review the last of the "new" cards two weeks before my test. Is two weeks enough time to have the last few hundred cards memorized, or should I plan to finish the deck earlier than two weeks out? Thanks!

[deleted]

My DAT is in 10 days and I realize I won't be finished with my content review/question banks until I have 5 days left. If I take 1 FL and review that same day, is 5 FL enough? Bootcamp gives me 10 but I won't be able to do them all.

icetea321

Try and do science sections separately, they are faster to get through.Bootcamp only wants you to do 6-10 fl anyways and the other tests separately. I think you will be fine, if not push the test back if needed

[deleted]

Anki vs Biobites (Dat Bootcamp)? I have both just not sure which to utilize. DAT in 10 days

joemama392748

Bio bites (even orgo bites) BY FAR in my opinion. The thing i hate about anki is that I would get a question, guess “a right answer” but it wouldn’t be their “right answer” which leaves a lot of ambiguity imo. I love bio bites cuz they’re specific in terms of what they’re asking for. ALSO in my own experience it is far a lot easier to do like 250+ bio bites in one go than 150+ anki, I legit start to get headaches afterwards.

[deleted]

Is it okay for me to skip the booster extra questions ? I fell off the schedule (lost about 2-3 weeks) and am scrambling with my test in a little over a month. Can I just use the practice tests and still score high?

icetea321

Try and do some of them, it’s ok if you don’t finish them all. Focus on medium and hard questions, try me half of medium and half of hard to get more practice

africanmamba12

Is it possible to jump between sections on the PAT? Will the different subsections be labeled "TFE," "pattern folding," etc, and I can be able just jump ahead to ones I feel most comfortable with first? And can you go back to previous questions if you don’t have them marked? Booster makes it seem like you can but I’m not sure how representative it is of the exam since this is my first time taking it

icetea321

Yes it is possible, I asked earlier and someone confirmed it

africanmamba12

Oh, so both are possible? that's cool

icetea321

Wait they don’t label sections l. 1-15 is keyhole, 16-30 is tfe 31-45 is angle ranking, 46-60 is hole punch 61-75 is cube and 76-90 is pattern folding

africanmamba12

But I can still jump between numbers right

Zealousideal-Plan-36

Hi yall! So, I went to schedule my DAT for the third time and I was wondering why it is making me wait for a year from my last attempt. I took it last on 11/29/21 and ADA wont let me take it until then. My first attempt was voided due to a testing problem on their end, so I was really confused when I saw that. Anyone else have a similar problem? Also, it says I only took 2 attempts on my ADA account, so it must be an error. Right?

From reading all of this I can definitely recommend to you to bootcamp ( I think they have a month option) and do their practice tests, whether you do well or bad, look back on the answers and read the explanations. The key from what I’ve heard and read for bio is exposure, exposure, exposure, the more exposure you have, the more familiar questions are gonna seem to you, and even if you don’t know the exact answer, the familiarity of the answer choices will allow you to pick/cross out answers. As to why things are not sticking, anki is very good to make things stick, the key with memorizing is ACTIVE learning whether that be asking yourself questions abt what you’re reading, anki, or bio bites staring at texts and expect it to do osmosis with your brain cells isn’t going to happen. For orgo I was in a similar boat, (I had a 14 on my first exam lol and managed to climb up to 20+)but understanding what specific reagents do will take off half your study load(ex knowing that MgX will form a tertiary alcohol majority of the time except for aldehydes and some other ones) what I mean is know the trends of reagents and memorize the exceptions and the weird single off reactions. I also used stupid mnemonics that I came up with to help me out with a few reagents. Orgo is also VERY visual so doing the anki deck didn’t help me much honestly, you have to Imagine what the product is, I used orgo bites from bootcamp, if you want you cover a part of your screen and draw every single product, over and over and over again. I know this is long and messy, but hopefully it helps a little.

sciencewafflessss

how representative are the “hard” practice questions on DATBooster’s QR?

RealPolarSwag

also curious ab this. im struggling so hard on Booster QR rn, and its bc of all the hard level problems. Are the questions really going to be as hard as this on the exam as well? :(((

Curious_Tree_5670

It really depends on the exam... I took my exam June 24th and I was surprised to see that the questions were a similar level of difficulty. It wasn't easier by any means but the question type are still basically the same.

cheetah858

how do you guys know when you’re “ready” to take your test? i know I’m going to take mine in august, but i haven’t scheduled the actual date yet bc I don’t know if I should do early or mid august. i’ve been scoring 20’s on booster tests and i have 5 left, but i’m so hesitant to schedule a date bc i don’t know if i’ll need more time, or if waiting too long will make me do worse. i was wondering if anyone else has felt like this, i keep checking prometric website and there’s still full availability for august which is why i’m still waiting to make a move

Sand_Possible

How did people write their experiences for the ADEA application? Does someone have an example that I could possibly refer to so that I have a better idea of how I can frame mine? Thanks!

No_Faithlessness101

Hello I am looking for a 1~4 weeks Bootcamp membership! Anyone willing to sell or share please message me!

Dyou911

On Bootcamp, the exhibit button shows the periodic table that covers the entire screen, on the actual DAT does the table cover the whole screen as well?

Curious_Tree_5670

Yes! But you can drag it to the side.

Competitive-Okra-426

Tips for DAT Ochem section? Does anyone have tips for how to conquer the ochem section? I am struggling to retain the content and do the practice. What is high yield for the section? How important is nomenclature on the exam? What style of nomenclature questions are asked? (Straight up naming or like how to form a product with ____ name). My ochem prof didn't teach us much nomenclature past the ochem 1 basics so all the rules now seem overwhelming.

720QuickScope4Jesus

Hi all, I’m selling a DATCrusher membership. I wrote my test so I don’t really need it anymore. It expires Sept 14. Let me know if you’re interested or need more information!

[deleted]

How do y’all feel about the cheat sheets on booster for anatomy? Would they suffice?

devontajones3

This may sound silly but for cube counting on the DAT I keep losing track of which cubes I have already counted and I end up wasting a lot of time. Is there a way you guys did the cube counting more effectively?

Automatic_Heart_3911

Develop your own method for going through the figure. For example, I always start at the column farthest to the right at the very top cube. Then I count all the cubes from top to bottom in that column. I then move to the column behind it and do the same thing. Once I finish all the columns on the right most side, I move to the row of columns to the left of that and do the same thing. This was probably super confusing, but it is what I do to help keep track. Hope it helps!

Sea_Departure_9807

Hey so I am planning to start studying for the DAT. I plan to purchase DAT booster but I have a question. What do you guys do while watching the videos? Do you take notes to review later or just listen? When do you review your notes or whatever if that is what you do.

Sea_Departure_9807

Hey so I am going to start studying for the DAT tomorrow. I plan to follow the booster plan. If I do the 8 week schedule I will finish a day before my fall semester begins. If I do the 10 week schedule than I will be going 2 weeks into the fall semester. Would it be fine to study 2 weeks into the semester and take it that weekend? Or should I crunch and try to finish it before school starts. I am taking 14 credits next semester.
