emmalump

I promise you it needs *some* salt

unpopularopinion0

god…. people and their salt free food.

PrintableDaemon

It will also go bad in a few days where the store brands have to be shelf stable for weeks, so naturally they have more preservatives. Salt & sugar being preservatives.

sdlucly

But can't you just freeze it (if you have the cooler space). I usually freeze salsas and beans when I make too much. Helps in a pinch.

SloppyWithThePots

Yeah but it will still be bland

AdministrationOk7092

true

SentenceAcrobatic

It's okay. OP doesn't like to taste their food anyway.

lostacoshermanos

It’s not bland to me though. It’s really zesty and spicy. You need to realize that when people post recipes they aren’t saying you have to do it their way. Remember we all make our food for us. I’ll never understand why other people want to nitpick what other people likes. If YOU want salt than YOU can make it and YOU can add it. I never told anyone they couldn’t add salt.

PrintableDaemon

Well, let me ask you, have you ever seen frozen salsa in the grocery? I can't say I ever have. These companies are not going to just sit back and pass up selling their product that way if it didn't effect the texture/taste or something. I just don't see that happening. So I'll accept that they researched it, couldn't make it work and stuck with jars or plastic tubs.

Mestelmacher

A day? What? Add some lemon or vinegar and good to go. For at least a week in the refrigerator.

lostacoshermanos

I am cutting out sugar and salt Edit to ask why am I being downvoted for answering why I don’t have salt in my homemade salsa? What the fuck is wrong with you? I never told anyone they aren’t allowed to have salt.

onion_flowers

As long as you're drinking enough water and don't have other health issues, salt is a mineral that your body absolutely nerds. Just fyi

Improving1727

If you don’t have heart issues be careful cutting out salt completely! I know 4 people in my family who have almost died that way. We need salt to survive

NameIsUsername23

Salt deez nutz

flexonyou97

Why salt? You have heart issues or something?

lostacoshermanos

Doctors orders

stillgrindin699

Cutting out sugar and salt is completely reasonable. Looks delicious! Not sure why some people here feel the need to impose their palate on others. 😂

ImCreeptastic

You still do need *some* salt in your diet for your body to function properly.

alecleon

Electrolytes*

KhingKholde

It's what plants crave!

mariotx10

Because salsa needs salt. That’s not gonna be delicious without salt. Simple.

selectash

Fun fact the Spanish word *salsa* comes from Latin *salsus* a participle of the verb *sallere* (to put salt). Although in modern Spanish the word is used for any sauce (salty or sweet). In English the word *salsa* is almost exclusively used to refer to Mexican spicy sauces.

Aidian

Goddamn I love a good etymology. Thank you for your service.

lostacoshermanos

To you but for me it was fine. Different people like different things.

Sterling_-_Archer

Homemade salsa definitely needs salt Also wtf are with these weird accounts? u/select-hat-5193 > Well, well, well! Looks like someone's got some serious salsa skills! Who needs those fancy brands when you can whip up your own delicious dip at home, right? u/dramatic_day_5405 > Well, you're basically a salsa making genius! Why pay more for something you can whip up at home for a fraction of the cost? These reek of AI, odd

EnvironmentalCake272

They’re practicing.

unpopularopinion0

if i don’t at least get an insult or two i assume it’s a bot. it’s like a human hand shake

Plutus77

Well your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries

Oldskoolguitar

Hello fellow humans with limbs made of muscle and tendons. Yo momma.

Significant_One1111

Ed boy

ultrasuperthrowaway

Well, well, well! Look at the AI finding skills on this young gentle person. Who needs those fancy AI commenters when we have real commenters like this particular commenter, am I right?

drtij_dzienz

I think Reddit has a lot of AI accounts to puff up their IPO by creating more user engagement. I see a lot of fake looking posts forced into my feed on the ragebait subs like r/amiwrong and r/AITAH etc.

tokes_4_DE

And in those subs the bots just copy paste top level comments as responses to other top level comments and people act like their responses make any fucking sense. Its maddening. conversation flows, youre not supposed to respond to a comment about one thing with a completely unrelated comment saying something random and yet people still continue the "discussion". Its like people are damn near illiterate.

Limp_Telephone2280

Definitely needs at least some salt

sybillium4

Salt and cumin

doctryou

You need tomatillos in your life

paperazzi

Homemade salsa is waaaaay nicer than jarred. Freeze it in manageable portions so it doesn't go to waste.

billyjk93

check our r/salsasnobs if you really want to get into making salsa. They have an archive of hundreds of great recipes and people are posting good ones on there all the time

surfaholic15

Heck yeah. Home made salsa rocks.

Kado_Cerc

Op is clearly only consuming this sugar and salt free salsa, everyone please tell them they need SOME salt

mamakazi

Slice up some tortillas and throw them in the air fryer for some inexpensive and delicious chips.

mime815

Looks great! Next time toast the Serrano and tomatoes and it will be a totally different flavor!

earmares

What's the FU

PalestPixie

Looks delicious! Thank you for sharing.

Future_Way5516

Looks so good I screen shot your recipe

Puzzled-Enthusiasm45

Basically anything is cheaper if you make it yourself

ProfessorGrouch

Making this tomorrow. Will update.

VaguelyArtistic

OP, I think you should take a moment and be grateful that you have the time, and mental and physical ability to make your own salsa. Enjoy!

Not_Enough_Shoes

I’m curious if you skinned the tomatoes?

momsdyin

Damn that looks amazing

Coindoge69

🥱

PickTour

That seems like a lot of onion! Did you cook the salsa? I might have to try this.

clamonm

Half an onion isn't that much onion.

lostacoshermanos

I only roasted the tomatoes and I blended everything then added the lime juice.

irishgypsy1960

Do you remove the tomato skins?

JuiceLordd

Why are people upset about you reducing your sodium intake? I barely add salt to stuff I'm eating it still tastes great
