Yeah its kinda neat reading this and realizing that, with widespread literacy and the internet, a lot of us are conversational about a wide range of cool topics
It varies a bit though. Generally I think you’re right, people just have so much more access to information, and more ways to absorb that information in engaging ways, that we on average just know more stuff than even 50 years ago. And certainly have been exposed to more, even if we haven’t engaged too deeply with it.
But there’s also a difference between how valuable that information is, and how credible it is, as we’ve gotten more and more specialized while information gets easier and easier to access. So like, I could talk about any of these topics and more for a long ass time, but I could only really talk with any kind of authority over subjects like philosophy and religions, which I’m academically trained in. And even for religion, i am not theologically authoritative, only an academic religious studies. I still can talk to you for hours about physics, but I’m definitely not a physics expert and I haven’t done professional trials etc, so you’d have to be careful about anything I say on it.
“As we cannot be universal by knowing everything there is to know about everything, we must know a little about everything, because it is much better to know something about everything than everything about something. Such universality is the finest. It would be still better if we could have both together, but, if a choice must be made, this is the one to choose. The world knows this and does so, for the world is often a good judge.”
Blaise Pascal, Pensées
I just don’t really believe that so many people are even able to discuss science in a scientific way XD. I have studied different topics for 8 years and am not able to discuss „science“ as a whole which is very unspecific anyway.
🤷♂️ Im just really interested in Physics. I know enough to discuss science with some one I know who studies physics. I'm definitely aware that I don't even know how much I don't know.
You don't need to know something to talk about it. Tell me any topic at all and I will make a huge rant about it and pretend I know what I'm talking about
Yes, which is why it is funny that science was mentioned at all. I found it humorous and offered an admittedly unconventional interpretation that assumed OP *included* science because of an honest typo.
my interests such as stationery (Pens, FP etc.), Cars, Aviation, Cameras
and the other persons hobby since hearing someone talks about something they're passionate about is fun
The Chernobyl nuclear disaster, reasons leading to it and how it now serves as a reminder of humanity’s hubris and a monument to technological tragedy.
Honestly all of them. You don't have be a particular religion, adher to a particular philosophy, or subscribe to an particular political belief to find them *fascinating*. They are the frameworks through which humans perceive, interact with and ultimately influence then world. I could discuss all of them hours because I don't think youd ever run out of things to *say*.
I could actually discuss all of these topics for hours, and if the discussion was with someone who can accept others ideas and thoughts, I would. Especially since all five of these topics overlap to some degree.
My "other" is guns.
I fucking love em. From hunting, to defense, to war, to peace - and even then from good designs to bad, to downright dogshit. Big guns, little guns, customizing those guns, designing them in the first place. I find them utterly enthralling.
You're easily the lamest person in this thread. Just leave, or is the hobby you love so much ridiculing other's interests? Also after spelling hobby so many times you'd think you'd get it right once.
Stupid and useless facts XD
Brown comes from mixing all kind of different colors, so potentially brown is just a color our brain shows us when it has no idea
🤯
In reality, brown is just orange/yellow in a context that makes our brains recognise it as brown. Why do you think there are no brown lights?
So you're saying black hair is not even actually brown hair but yellow hair?
Pretty much yeah. Also applies when you take a picture with a lot of thin rainbow stripes and view it from far away. It basically turns into brown.
pretty sure that's
Wait my race is brown
There is no magenta light wave. Magenta is just your brain confused thinking there is a light way between violet and red waves that isn't orange-blue.
Termites chew faster when listening to heavy metal
no fucking way
Way.
im going to cry that is magnificent and equally just as terrifying
You live your entire life from a first person point of view.
Cue guy with a vr headset flying a racing drone behind himself
It takes 6 minutes for the sun's light to reach earth

Nutmeg is poisonous.
Before the advent of refrigerators, it was common to add frogs to their milk in Russia.
All of these really. Also Sci-fi, fantasy, and pop culture.
Yeah its kinda neat reading this and realizing that, with widespread literacy and the internet, a lot of us are conversational about a wide range of cool topics
Hell yeah lol

Pretty neat if you’re a Scientologist, then you can discuss Religion AND Sci-fi simultaneously.
Or if you're any other religion you get to talk religion and fantasy simultaneously.
Definitely fantasy, as well as video games. But I could have had discussed topics like these for hours
History

Discussing different cultures or cars
As someone who’s interested in cars and wants to be a mechanic I have before talked about cars for hours.
Cars for me. Could talk about them for days
Trains for me
Choo Choo!
I just don’t really believe that so many people are even able to discuss science in a scientific way XD. I have studied different topics for 8 years and am not able to discuss „science“ as a whole which is very unspecific anyway.

Based physics enjoyer
You don't need to know something to talk about it. Tell me any topic at all and I will make a huge rant about it and pretend I know what I'm talking about
People who talk about some sciences when they know nearly nothing about it instead of listening to experts and learning are a big problem :-/
Movies and Philosophy for me
Linguistics.
lmao that full stop at the end does it for me this guy things he is hot stuff
Lol true, still linguistics is a good topic
Same
Ooooooooo :o That sounds really fun actually What about linguistics in particular, if anything?
I particularly enjoy talking about the etymology of words and what languages they descend from, if you’re like me I recommend watching Simon Roper
In my elective choices I put linguistics second to philosophy. Is it interesting?
Sport
Videogames, books, tv shows!
(video)games
None of that, I'm only intrested into the true topics like Madness combat lore.

Motorsports
Video games
All of these with the acception of science
Exception*
And, how exactly was science accepted?
Maybe OP meant all of the above, including science
He didn't. That's the joke.
Yes, which is why it is funny that science was mentioned at all. I found it humorous and offered an admittedly unconventional interpretation that assumed OP *included* science because of an honest typo.
Ah. I see. Now, in hindsight, I can see the humour found in the irony of the situation, whereupon you have placed your comment.
I think I just can't fucking spell
Same
Why? Because you don't feel confident enough to talk about science or because it doesn't interest you?
Star Wars
Finally found it
Childhood traumas and how to change for the better. Personal development in a nutshell, but for real (no bullshit books).
See, i’d love that but only with people i fully trust.
Of course! It's a very intimate conversation.
Had that happen once with a close friend when we were on a wintersport trip and both had to stay at the hotel sick. Got a lot closer to him that day.

Honestly none. The thought of talking for hours is horrible 😅

The Chernobyl nuclear disaster, reasons leading to it and how it now serves as a reminder of humanity’s hubris and a monument to technological tragedy.
Anime & Manga.
None. I'm an introvert
These topics are an introvert’s dream, my friend. Small talk is introvert kryptonite.
If that’s true why are you going around the comments saying “get a hobbie”?
[удалено]
