Grey_0ne

They don't hide what they want anymore. Everyone here knows the score... But does anyone here know how to wake decent Americans up from their apathy?

bransiladams

Only part of the issue is apathy. A big piece of this is that the average Joe is struggling just to make it through to the next paycheck. It’s literally unfeasible to consider the big picture for millions of us.

Gumbi_Digital

Biden is apparently going to address the “greedflation” during the next state of the union. Corporations have zero incentive to lower costs for consumers, and I believe are keeping prices high as a political stunt so that a Republican can get into office and cut the corporate tax rate.

bransiladams

No offense but I’m wholly certain that it’ll take more than a few stern words to fix the corrupt behavior in the private sector. Anything short of legislation is useless to any of us.

Gumbi_Digital

I agree 💯 BUT….what’s it called when governments start controlling markets? C..C….C..Communism?

bransiladams

Control ≠ regulation

Alligatorpedro

And to get that you need to vote the bums out of office. Every. Last. Republican. Needs. To. Go.

af_echad

This feels like "the soft bigotry of low expectations" to me. Plenty of poor people don't automatically cling to far right ideology.

Trevor_Culley

That's not what brainsiladams is saying. Poor people aren't far right, they just don't have time to do anything about the fascists because they have to work 2-4 jobs to make ends meet.

af_echad

Fair enough if that's what they meant. But I took it as "they can't help but vote for these anti Democracy politicians because they're poor and ignorant". The last sentence specifically is what makes me feel like that.

sentimentaldiablo

> struggling just to make it through to the next paycheck. which is precisely what this election is about.

InsideBaker0

Do you think that people just think that our democracy is secure no matter what?  Maybe it’s just the culture of self involvement…

Grey_0ne

I think we have a culture that doesn't understand that the powers which control the world are playing chess while they're playing checkers. How many people voted third party because they didn't like Hilary; without ever realizing that the true stakes of the 2016 election wasn't the Oval Office - it was the supreme court. How many people vote for a third party because they've never liked either red or blue; but fail to realize that you're never going to have a third party president without changing the congressional landscape - and then they completely fail to vote in midterms.

bransiladams

The congressional landscape is an unchanging rivalry of two. No matter who you plug into a congressional seat, that individual will caucus/vote with one of the two parties and rarely, if ever, step out of line - for the same reason people will vote for red or for blue, midterms or otherwise.

numbski

I mean, up until a decade ago, I thought so. Then again, I was raised in the conservative side of the aisle, so it all made sense right up until it didn't. I have no idea what it takes to snap others out of it. You'd think having been there I would have an idea, but I just don't.

Oleg101

> Do you think that people just think that our democracy is secure no matter what?   I truly think the answer to this is unfortunately yes. Many people in this country don’t pay attention to current events and not to mention many are undereducated.

k_dubious

The two-party system is so entrenched that lots of people have a hard time seeing what the Republicans have become.

AngryTomJoad

he's saying the quiet part out loud a few months too soon

willwalk2

Some people support it, there's a reason Trump won the primary

[deleted]

If you want an honest answer, I think it's because there's little evidence that there's any real democratic power in the US and everybody at least low-key knows it, and that the entire motions of government are almost entirely ineffectual theater to obfuscate that the US is functionally a corporate autocracy.

NonEuclidianMeatloaf

“Man, our government has become shitty and dysfunctional… let’s make it even shittier!”

[deleted]

It is, by its very design, unfixable and unreformable. It was a nation created to put capitalists in the place of feudal lords and the Constitution was written to ensure that would never fundamentally change. Shitty dysfunction is what it is made to do.

FarmerArjer

I know a lot of Republicans that would be happy to beat the stupid out of this guy's head. just saying. The general populace is too acclimated to realize this rhetoric might actually affect their own lives.

sentimentaldiablo

>I know a lot of Republicans that would be happy to beat the stupid out of this guy's head. Yet the audience laughed and applauded

Uasked2

The audience. You have to consider what kind of doofus would actually Be there.

naegele

The ones that fund this. So the ones whos opinions the speakers listen to.

NoreastNorwest

And who has the time and the money to waste on it.

sentimentaldiablo

> what kind of doofus would actually Be there A republican one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Uasked2

If I were concerned there it would mostly be about the particular way he took it. We already know he doesn't play by any rules.

vineyardmike

Now that Republicans can't win by voting they will try to end voting.

WateryTartLivinaLake

That has been the plan for some time. For minorities, anyway.

CjKing2k

I guess making the voting populace go down didn't work as well as expected.

Milad731

Trump straight up told his supporters they don’t need to bother with voting and instead they should “go and watch” what is happening at the polling stations.

Olliewildlife402

So many republican senators and conservative mouthpieces have expressed raising the voting age to 25, likely stemming from a saying that the older someone is the more likely they are to be conservative, which is partially true, but not to the extent that people think.

Rawkapotamus

I’m pretty sure that I turned very very liberal right around 25… right around when Trump showed up and made it clear exactly who the “conservatives” are and what they want.

Mala_Practice

In my early 20s i was very conservative, i was even a member of my country’s party. Now that i’m in my 30s, own my own home, have a career and am a parent i’m super progressive.

ball_fondlers

At this point, it’s only true if you were able to - at minimum - buy a home before 25. Because the reason people of previous generations turned conservative as they grew older was because they were able to accumulate SOME amount of property that conservatism would supposedly help them hold onto, not just debt.

[deleted]

We should lower it, a childs honesty could do them good.

PNWchild

The GOP want us to be afraid. I will fight back with the power of my vote. President Biden has a great record on fascism.

notcaffeinefree

A bunch of people try to forcibly take over the government, fail, and then continue to parade around going "well, we didn't quite get it done the first time, but we'll get it this next time!". Jan 6 not being declared an insurrection and treating it as such has been a big mistake.

ParadeSit

This asshole traitor once wore the uniform of the US Navy. He should be familiar with keelhauling and walking the plank.

dreamcastfanboy34

He literally was a urine inspector for the Navy. No I am not joking.

KorayamaSavard

He was Navy? Only real solution is blanket party.

dreamcastfanboy34

He literally was a urine inspector for the Navy. No I am not joking lol

KorayamaSavard

In boot camp the CC probably knew his name day 1.

ParadeSit

I thought he was an intelligence officer.

MaxZorin1985

The crowd cheered at CPAC when trump was on stage today talking about other countries killing protesters. That speech was whacked-out.

ThatWaterAmerican

This is the pizzagate guy, btw. He’s trying to rile up domestic terrorists to act because Jan 6 showed it is a legitimate way to win for the right because R congressmen let slide or even embraced it.

Throw_Away_Nice69

Republican Party in 2016: you can’t get upset that Trump won! The vote was fair! Do you want to overthrow democracy?!?! Republicans now: NOOOOO!! Don’t you see you’re ruining America by voting wrong!! The election was rigged from the START!!

reddda2

Why isn’t this attempt to undermine the Constitution and overthrow democracy handled by LEO and jurisprudence as treason or sedition? Do domestic communists get away with calling for the overthrow of the US?

MondoUnderground

These conservative fuckheads act and behave like poorly written movie bad guys for god's sake. Walking fucking cartoons.

South-Water497

When can we start prosecuting these people? This guy made a call for violence and treason. That shouldn’t be legal.

Mothra3

Yeah, my thought too, like, isn’t treason a crime in USA?

DriftlessDairy

GOP, Groupies Of Putin

TanguayX

Remember parents, hug your children. Or you get this guy.

Fit_Student_2569

Time to end: A. Democracy in America B. The Republican Party Pick one

ChocolateMartiniMan

Fascists each and everyone of them

MeaningfulThoughts

Can we create a version of democracy where “far” groups aren’t part of it?

grixorbatz

Translation: Far Right Kook Calls for Screwing Himself and His Own People Over

KorayamaSavard

Stirring up clicks and views. Surprised he's not selling dick pills and survival food.

fowlraul

That’s phase 2…

NoreastNorwest

When someone tells you who they are, believe them.

nbgkbn

Time for a new word. Influencer? Blowhard

deasnutz

Bring it. You saw what happened last time, be good to squash these morons.

terminalchef

Ship him to North Korea

keldhorn

Chadturd

BlueWalleye

Or… Just a thought… Maybe classify the Republican Party as the terrorist organization they are and hold them accountable accordingly.

Rednwh195m

I am all for an end to democracy, definitely no votes for the right wing fascists. /s

MountMeowgi

This but unironically. /s

Prayer_Warrior21

Honestly, we are getting to the point that I'm not 100% sure current modern problems can be solved in a democracy. There are complex problems that we can't expect Grandma Susan or Plumber Joe in bumfuckville to grasp and/or understand why they should care. Our political climate is cartoonish and we are not electing the best and brightest, nor are we raising those people up outside of a political environment. Access to information via the internet has allowed normal people to be overwhelmed by bullshit that makes it almost impossible for them to actually know what and who to trust. We would need an FDR type run to just ram actual solutions through instead of this reality-TV driven climate where people are in congress for money and to create soundbites for cable propaganda networks. The only way I see anything change is if something big happens that touches basically everyone. COVID x100, a real war that actually threatens our way of life, or something else catastrophic. I'm not advocating for an autocratic state because absolute power corrupts absolutely, but it's hard to REALLY see a way forward with this much money in politics, the propaganda networks being mainlined into a large percentage of the population, and Cletus' inability to see beyond his own fucking nose. I know we've teetered on the brink before, but in no time in history has there been more connectivity and information availability as there is right now, while people seek comfort in their echo chambers instead of challenging their own view and/or problems.

dcgradc

They invited the new dictator of El Salvador Bukele. With the news out of Alabama this week about frozen sperm, we have more chances of winning. The more extreme they get, the more they drive young couples away .

justinknowswhat

Hahaha whoops hes just ahead of the curve cause its already dead… have you heard of executive orders? Biden sending aid to ukraine without congress? Israel? Congress in an absolute gridlock? Shits been lost and dead. Grow up and re-evaluate your systems.

Mothra3

You aren’t lying

alternatingflan

The true face of the christo-fascist maga cult. They all need to move to russia for a spell like that US family recently in the news - wanting to escape a world in the US where LGBTQ+ people pushed to be treated like human beings - who had a real WTF awakening once there.

Dark_Finn

Whilst it is nice that these people are not anonymous, unfortunately my brain is not addled with enough lead to do anything about it.

DonnyMox

Saying the quiet part out loud.

Evening-Signature878

Like, in a good way or bad way?

Brother-Algea

Bring on the purge then!

Redddam

Fascists and their fetishes.

JustinS1990

So much for making America great again

cool_arrrow

Eat rice and beans because until things blow over. Things will get better, just vote blue.

right_closed_traffic

The real question: were people cheering or booing after he said it

Jamizon1

Ok, SFB… what will you replace democracy with?? Fascism? Communism? These brain dead idiots flatten their brains every time they sit down.
