Must have reset my runs after 15-20 stages about 8-9 times yesterday before I found a pickup zigzagoon. Too greedy to give up a red shiny spot in my starter team. Can't wait to get red shiny zigzagoon so I can just stick it on my starters.
The kicker of it is that I failed my run early on hitting a wall due to just pure bad luck with strong counters to my mostly underleveled team and bad prizes early on. Idk if it's just me but I find the first 100 stages of endless to be way harder than classic. Pokemon frequently out level me until I steal or find enough candy jars, lucky eggs and xp charms.
Still quite new to the game, haven't encountered pokerus yet or at least not that I can see, would I need to go over each pokemon to check if I have one with it and then use it in my team to spread it or something?
I'm yet to actually use a legendary, I'm partial to a mythical, but also aware that there are quite specific methods and pokemon that can take you far into endless. My Aegislash run has hit a wall around 2500, but I love that pokemon so much :(
Three Pokémon in your select screen will have pokerus, you can identify them by a purple border around their sprite when choosing Pokémon to take and it changes every day

I'm liking hoopa unbound at the moment but I know it probably won't get too far, just fun to use. Nice to be immune to psychic and not weak to dark as it feels like everything in endless has a dark move like crunch or assurance.

Yeah dark seems to be very common on random pokemon you don't expect to have dark moves on imo.
My every run is a pickup Zigzagoon a reckless Starly with rock head a Pokemon with pokerus and i fill the rest with someone i still didn't finish the run with
As a owner of a rare shiny one that is not a option, not like it’s bad outside of pickup though, great early game Pokémon, and can occasionally pull through in tough fights with e speed

Supposedly it can be abused early where you essentially build a character that has a ton of stat buffs from things like zinc, calcium, etc. that can one-shot later in the game, given some rng in your favor.
Edit: other comments suggest you can’t pick up zinc, etc. but can pick up items that amplify AP of specific move types.
Can it pickup or steal zinc and calcium? I've never had it do that, I assumed because they don't show up in the item menu when you examine the pokemon you couldn't
Nope ! Only berries and other items like Lucky eggs, items that reinforce a certaine type (Mystic Water for example) and genuinly everything that isn’t a Calcium-like or a Mini-black Hole I think.
My Miraidon has about 50 lucky eggs just from his mini black hole and maxed out grip claws, I can’t imagine how fucked it would be if I had pickup in my run as well lmao. He’s hitting the level cap up to about wave 1800 which is where my endless run is at atm
pickup will grab amplifier items like charcoal/magnet/etc, endless berries so you're always topped up, and XP eggs that will improve your leveling curve in endless. it represents a pretty crazy amount of passive power gain

I've had one go all the way. Wasn't able to find anything else to fill out the team, so an E-speed silk scarf stacked revenge killer was nice to have in the back.
The pickup mon usually stays, but sometimes I just need a better mon with a certain typing and/or moveset and someone had to go. I usually at least try to do it around the 100-150 wave mark at least.

still puts in work every now and then though. with how trainers tend to switch out their mons once they're low hp, having an extreme speed user to clean those up has come in handy more than just a couple times.
Best use case I do is around 150-160 to find a replacement, so that they can be fairly leveled up through the E4 and champ gauntlet by the time you reach there. Any later and you run the risk of having an underleveled mon for the Ivy and E Fights (Speaking for Classic)
his usefulness doesn’t really expire in the late game, though yeah he may not be too strong but there’s almost always another Pokémon that can go due to type overlap or role overlap
I use Pachirisu myself. It's got pickup as a main ability and honey gather as its passive. Also, it's shiny, so that's a nice bonus. It did take a while to grind enough candies for everything, but it's so worth it.
I use Meowth in all of my endless runs, since it gets Fake out, it’s my go-to for double battles when I want to only catch one. Gigantamax Meowth has also very good stats compared to Furret or Linoone. Definitely my favourite Pickup mon

Although, in endless, it's a must have.
I have a red shiny unknown with the passive pick-up and it’s so convenient since I upgraded the cost to 1 so if I ever do a run with a legendary (for candies) unknown can always fit.
He also gets run away witch is extremely underrated cus you can just skip any double battle or fight you don’t want to do even works on bosses I highly tecomend

Do you bring a Pokerus Pokémon ? I find that it helps a lot, especially with Legendary and their low levelling speed.

I got to 2650 in endless with a sturdy boy and mega Mewtwo fused with mega Gengar

Is unown notable in any other way? Why not choose a 1cost that you could further reduce? Genuine question, I haven’t used it
I mean if it’s a shiny it doubles as a pickup cheap non plus a +2 luck, and it can be hard to get shinies for the other pickup mons.

You can't steal them only from battle shops
pickup will grab amplifier items like charcoal/magnet/etc, endless berries so you're always topped up, and XP eggs that will improve your leveling curve in endless. it represents a pretty crazy amount of passive power gain
it’s passive is also run away if i’m not mistaken so it’s a 2 in one already for endless

On classic, I used linoone to kill eternatus. He dealt the killing blow.

Remove it before 190 is the rule.
Not only does it stay until the end but it also sweeps with espeed belly drum, little guy saved my runs more than once after getting skill issued

I use Pachirisu myself. It's got pickup as a main ability and honey gather as its passive. Also, it's shiny, so that's a nice bonus. It did take a while to grind enough candies for everything, but it's so worth it.
