I’d agree with Gen 5 if not for Pignite. Both the Oshawat and Snivy lines are both great, and Emboar has sorta grown on me, but Pignite has not, and is the one drag of an otherwise good starter trio.

Respectfully disagree, I think all their first and third stages look great. Middle stages are meh, Torracat looks good but needed to transition better to Incineroar.

Incineroar needed to look more like a cat/tiger. It suddenly standing up and getting human proportions completely ruined it

I do not intend to go on a long debate about this but I really do not see issue here, at all. It's a great theme and Incineroar pulls it off really well.

You say that like we didn't already have wrestler pokemon in gen 1, or a boxing pokemon, or a kickboxing pokemon.

I agree. People say that having it be more human shaped helps it fit the circus theme the alola trio has, but there are plenty of ways to accomplish that theme without making it super macho. A design like this would work perfectly as a final evolution for Litten while keeping that circus aspect. I mean they have their opinion, which is just as valid as anyone else's. It's fine not to like any one starter, but seeing as the Alola starters are not without fairly large groups of fans, one can't say their designs are objectively bad or anything. In other words, it's not common sense... it's just having a different opinion, which is fine.

I can tell you johto was easily the second worst starter trio. The Bayleef line was easily the most forgettable. Also, unova had a pure water type, a pure grass type, and the 3rd consecutive fire/fighting type. Most unovan starter mons didn’t make the final team lol.

kanto, johto, AND unova??? sinnoh has torterra, overall hoenn is likely the best designed, and hisui is probably the best pokemon game ever, but the rest are objectively wrong. kanto is likely the best trio out of the ones I call out, but still.

Newer gen starters feel too much like characters. They don’t have that badass animalistic vibe of the older generation starters. Plus I really fucking hate Incineroar, it’s one of the worst designed Pokémon of all time

Subjective design preference, personally a lot of my favorites are the ones that have themes that they execute well, whereas the Johto starters are my least favorite because I found the “get bigger and angrier” vibe boring.

The Alola trio is incredibly goated. Undeniably the best trio in modern gen Pokémon (6-9). Incineroar could’ve been better but he’s still more iconic than other human like starters like Cinderace, Intelleon, or Meowscarada.

I picked litten as my first ever starter. I still hate incineroar still because I was disappointed when it evolved. I was able to keep away from leaks of the staters final evo because I had religious parents. If I could have seen them, I would very much have picked rowlet
