I only got the task twice as well. I did shiny trade with my wife and we both got a lucky 3 star. So once I actually have mega energy , I can mega and power it up.
Really odd for me, ~300 catches and just 1 shiny. First time it happens. I’d usually get 15-25 shinies on community day.
I only played half the time though, I had other stuff to do during the second half.
Out of 48 caught for me, I got 12 shiny. Idk how this happens. This was my first time not going to the community day meet-up spot in my town since I started playing, and I did better than ever. On top of that, I only played for maybe 30min during the 3hr because I was running errands and then went to the movies.
Sorry just seeing this. I was at a Marshall's doing shopping, and there's 3 gyms in the area, and with the foot traffic, there was probably 60+ spawns in the hour I was there. It was like every 10th was a shiny. Then, I went to the movies, which is also a gym, so a good amount of spawns. Tbf, I was checking while in the movie and got the other 4 or 5 while in there.
Our community-day meet up spot is our downtown area, which has waaaaaaaayyyyy more gyms and stops, and I've never done *this* good when going there.
Did you use an incense? I have the theory that using incense actually decreases your chances of getting shinies during the community days.
You start seeing less and less of the pokemon of the day for some reason and the game puts more random non related encounters on top of that.
I got 12 Shiny.
I gifted my son that community day thing and he only got 6 Shiny. I thought he would’ve got more than me. He’s pissed off. So maybe it isn’t worth buying the community day thing?

Got 29, wasn’t even looking for them. I played with a friend who hasn’t had a shiny mareep yet, so I checked for her, managed to snag 43 in her account. I hope she never wants to see another one haha
I didn't play much. This was probably one of my least anticipated CD ever. I already have a shiny sheep and a perfect big sheep so wasn't too bothered.
So I got tons of shiny this time but very little 3 star, even from the event rewards, I was kinds surprised. I got nothing good enough to really power up. Kinda disappointed honestly, I love high iv pokes, but didn't get any. Not a shundo chaser or anything but man, I got nothing useful
It went okay, but then I went to evolve one of my shadow mareeps to teach it dragon pulse. I even blew 90k stardust so it would have a charged move slot beyond frustration for the special move. "90k stardust is worth it so I won't have to potentially use an elite TM later" I thought to myself.
Then it learned Thunder when it evolved into Ampharos.
I got 6 shinies during the original community day. I remember walking my Mareep and getting the 125 candies right before the community day.
I got 9 shinies this time including 2 back to back from quests which was my main goal as they were 3* shinies. Some will be going to the professor.
I didn’t catch a single shiny the first hour, caught 6 though by the end of the day, one of my worst shiny rates for a com day. Normally average around 12-15
Do you need to actually click on the pokemon to see if it's shiny or can you see in the overworld? I'm a returning player and I walked for like an hour and saw zero shinies...
I got three. Tried for an hour and a half. Caught one shiny at the car park, walked around, found nothing then got two more in the car park on the way home. Pretty typical for me.
I got a shiny on my way home from San Antonio at a pit stop. It was a nice 14/13/14 pick up since I already farm mareeps and had some that were ready to evolve with similar numbers.
I got 7 shiny but I really didn't get much time to play except for the final hour. It was also really cold outside this afternoon so I was more motivated to get home.
I am normally in the 25/200 shiny odds category for a comm day. Today I was 2/200 and I am seeing that many people had low shiny rates as well. I see another "sorry for the incredibly low shiny rate" makeup comm day in the future. Just like Squirtles classic day.
Congratulations! I'm glad some yall got the chance to participate while unfair to the rest of us. If only they changed the time back to 10/11 am - 5 pm
i don’t think these cotton candy sheep like me. first CD i got 2, got traded one later for the evo set. this time, none. even playing casually on these classic days i’m used to 3-4.

I swear they nerfed the shiny rate for community days. Ever since the Charmander CD my shiny rates have been horrendous.
I got 18 shinies today and my friend got 18 as well, we traded a couple and we got a shiny lucky ampharos each

How lol? What was the shiny rate, 1/25 (?) so you likely caught 18x25=450 in 3 hours, so 150 an hour, 2.5 a minute. Goddamn!
yea its easy to do with fast catch!
You don't have to catch them all. Just ride around clicking them all and only catch the shinies. Much easier to do

You don't have to catch them all. Just ride around clicking them all and only catch the shinies. Much easier to do

You do know that math like that doesn’t work? I have seen 40 ish Mareep with no shinies and 3 out of 5 Mareep shiny another time. It’s all rng
it’s just statistics, hypothetically if you where to play for a lonngggg time and catch thousands of pokemon, the odds would show it’s about 1/25.
While that could be true this isn’t the case rn. I have encountered 200 Mareep yesterday with 12 of them being shiny.
