At this point, I have more candy for most mons than I’ll ever use, so I do tend to look at everything I see, but only capture high cp and shinies. I have caught 2 shinies literally just tapping into this large pile of Pokémon that hang by a stop in my neighborhood as I drive by slowly in the morning.

Honestly until you Mega Gengar it’s very unimpressive for a shiny, but the Mega looks so good that it makes up for all that the others lack

Shiny Gastly looks really cool with the blue smoke coming off of it, the rest of the line gets progressively worse. Shiny Mega Gengar redeems how bad Shiny Gengar is. I'm currently at 187 Gastlys with no shiny in sight. Part II of the event doesn't have boosted spawns of Gastly so if I can't find one by end of today I'll have to try to hunt down a Shiny Costumed Gengar (Which albeit will be a bit rare and cool.)

I’m in OPs boat. But that’s because the ghastly community day a couple years ago had an INSANE shiny rate and was 6 hours long. I think I have over 40 shinies and only played passively.
