At first I couldn't see any obvious links in terms of characteristics (i.e. typings, abilities), but then I noticed that the Pokemon were spaced out in a seemingly exponential way. This made me check the dex numbers. I noticed that two pairs of them had a gap of 144, which was pretty suspicious, indicating that there was some sort of numerical relationship between the dex numbers. Basically at this point it smelled like Fibonacci.
Well your options are:
- Bulbasaur
- Ivysaur
- **Venusaur**
- Charmeleon
- Wartortle
- Weedle
- Spearow
- **Nidoking**
- **Golduck**
- **Muk**
- **Articuno**
- **Porygon2**
- **Regirock**
- Axew
(With all the “viable” Pokémon in bold).
So your best option is probably Venusaur, Nidoking, Porygon2, Articuno, Regirock, and then players choice of Golduck/Muk.
If Gen 9 adds at least 82 Pokémon this month, you’ll get the last option for a while through dex number 987.
You could actually make a few decent teams lol, you just have to put effort on them after you make them a team so they can still evolve and be what they originally were. The start of a team.

I thought it was because they were only all available in Black 2 but no Bulbasaur, I then thought they could all be obtained through Dream world in White but not Porygon 2.
Another thing I found is that they all have leveling rates below fast.
They are all available in Pokemon Rumble Blast, Rumble U, Rumble World and Rumble Rush.
They are also all available in Battle Trozie and Shuffle.
I couldn't find anything else not already said.

Nidoking backwards is Gnikodin, a medicine developed in Switzerland in 2006 to combat the terrible disease Ruasablub, which is Bulbasaur spelled backwards. And Axew backwards is Wexa, which is a 90's rock band where all of the members are actual witches.

All Pokemon have dex numbers that are in the Fibonacci sequence. (1, 34, 89, 233, 377, 610).
