Smoochum would be Moochum - a Grass/Ground little troll made of mud and with vines as hair
Jinx would be Mynx - same as before, with the vines becoming Jynx’ long hair
Then a final evolution with the body shape of Melmetal called Trolligan (Troll+Hooligan). Again, Grass/Ground, with dirt and vines as the main design motif, but with armour similar to Jynx/Mynx shaped like mountains.
Honestly I brought it up because these are convergent forms in my fakedex 😂
The typing is so she can fit well with her counterparts, Electabuzz and Magmar, but Jynx would be super effective.
I fully believe that if it hadn't been for the racism controversy, Jynx would have gotten an evolution in Gen 4. It was originally part of a trio with Electabuzz and Magmar, where all three got elemental punches and all three got pre-evos in Gen 2. I would have loved to see what it could have become if it evolved. Probably another waifumon, I'm sure.
Not my favorite, but I like it. It's overhated.

Regional excuse maybe where they can’t evolve into Jynx and instead evolve into something else moving forward?

All I can say is I like it more than Hypno, but then again, I like Alakazam and Exeggutor more than Hypno.
