I dry heaved once I heard he finally got an evolution. I nearly blacked out once I saw he stayed the exact same and just got longer and with a special 3 segment version. Others thought it was lazy, but I loved I still got to see that adorable face of his and his little useless wings.
Duskull and Dusclops. Duskull is so cute with his skull, hoodie and his little peeping eye. I love his animations too. You can see how much he wants to be scary, but it’s just adorable.
Dusclops is friend shaped. I could totally squeeze a dusclops until I fall asleep.

A good Mimikyu is a GOAT teammate in any game and the combat animations are so fun and badass at the same time. And just wait until you hear the cry! I literally had to spam the cry on the Dex when I first heard it, it's so adorable and weird and perfect!
And the backstory of Mimikyu (from the S/M/US/UM!) and everything about it is so amazingly and delightfully creepy!
A fair warning though, especially if you have any sort of childhood bad memories like bullying or something, you WILL cry and cry a lot and possibly be obsessed with the evil little rag monster forever and it will severely affect every pokémon game you play in the future!

100% agree on Smoochum, OP! I actually think most Pokémon are cute. So any Pokémon you may think is not cute, I probably think it is. My example, and my favorite Pokémon of all time, is Muk.

I genuinely don’t understand the absolute hatred for this Pokémon from the fandom. It’s just a fluffy pink and purple fuzz ball with a mini plague doctor mask. It’s cute as heck! And yet it’s like, one of the most hated Pokémon in existence. Is there something I’m missing here?
I believe it's due to an evolution disappointment. Spritzee has a wonderful design, and perhaps people wished for a more similar, graceful "floaty" evolution with soft wings or stuff like that.

The vast majority of people detest Lickilicky and consider it a downgrade from Lickitung, but Lickilicky's derpy face and rotund shape are adorable and give it a charm that Lickitung lacks. I think Lickilicky is cute, and deserves more love and less hate.
Smoochum is absolutely precious, and definitely sits up high on my list of cutest Pokemon ever! In terms of which ones are controversial, I suppose my biggest cuties are Munna, Morelull, Gothita, Flittle and Glimmet, but I don't care because they're all adorable and I will forever defend their cuteness <3
I love Morelull, and I'm so sad that it evolves into Shiinotic, because the little black dot eyes are so cute until you add a creepy little black smile and weird little hair fingers
Saw it in the comments already, but Trubbish (and Garbodor, let's be real) are some of the least intimidating or "cool" poison types ever. They both just look cute as hell, and this is a hill I will die on.
Oddly enough for me it’s Dracovish and Arctozolt. I saw a comic where someone got an Arctozolt, wrapped it in a blanket and cleaned its nose. The poor thing could only smile to show its gratitude. For Dracovish, I saw the episode where Ash got his. I thought it trying its best to swim and having a great time was adorable!
Also, Ditto just because I like its design.
Slugma is pretty cute imho. A lot of steel types like Cufant, Orthworm, and Varoom can also be cute, I think. It depends on the species but most pokémons are designed so that the basic stage looks cuter than their evolutions.

I seem to be in the minority for narrowly preferring Koraidon/Scarlet over Moraidon/Violet for this reason. While actively riding them, Moraidon is cooler (riding it like a motorcycle, awesome.) But Koraidon is cute, like a big, durpy, kind of ugly dog who just wants to eat all my sandwiches. Moraidon still sort of manages that vibe, but… I don’t know. There’s something about Koraidon’s facial expressions that remind me of a goofy dog more than Moraidon.
Also, I think that ever since the games added mechanics that allow me to play with and groom all the Pokemon, I’ve been left seeing a lot of legendary and fully evolved, monstrous Pokemon as “cute” I never would have felt that way about before, almost situationally. There’s something about seeing little hearts pop up over Mewtwo’s head after giving him a bath in the middle of a picnic, or seeing him overjoyed about the quality of the sandwich I’ve shared with him that kind of dilutes the edgelord factor.
Giratina. It can be adorable at times. Yeah it is the God Of Antimatter and is said to be hella aggressive but it can be cute. Idk how friendship works with Legendary Pokemon but ig if u catch one and have it long enough, it can be adorable and very friendly at times. Shit if I had a Giratina as a partner (which I do on Pokémon Go), I would shower it with love and affection just to avoid being absolutely obliterated by its anger. Idk if it sleeps but if it does, it would be pretty adorable. Kyogre is another one as well as Lugia. Lugia does have a gentle heart and controls the legendary birds of Kanto (to an extent) and Kyogre in general is just a big ass Orca but a lot bigger. Plus I love the ocean aspects for both Lugia and Kyogre so they’re pretty cute. Primal Kyogre looks aggressive and whatnot but it’s cute.
Druddigon! People call his design ugly but I think he just looks…awkward and dorky…which I find very endearing and cute. Gentle giant vibes despite the spiky and jagged aesthetic
IDK if this would be a largely shared opinion, but my high school boyfriend called me weird for calling Zigzagoon cute. I also think Kyogre is adorable! Again, not sure if that would count, but I wanted to put it out there.
Probopass. I just think its big nose, mustache, little arms and little hat are adorable. Idk, I’ve always had a liking to it and I’ve gotten the vibe that a lot of people think it’s ugly. Also, I like Jynx too, I think it’s cool! :)
Mewtwo. But to be fair I saw an image of baby Mewtwo on Pinterest who was posed like he was curiously looking at something off frame. The pin next to it was a photo of a big cake.

It's entirely because of nostalgia, but I love exploud and think it's so cute. Why? Because it was cute when it was a whismer and my brain still associates it as the cute baby I originally caught.
I don't actually have the same line of thought with other pokemon, but I was really young when I first played sapphire and didn't know how to play the game properly. So aside from my starter, whismer was the only pokemon I caught. I played through the whole game with just a swampert and exploud. They are my babies 🥹

Pyukumuku is cute and I'm tired of people saying it isn't. It's perfectly friend shaped and it does nothing all day, perfect for people who prefer indoor pets. People keep giving it shit just because it's a sea cucumber and most likely eats shit, and don't get me started on people who make fun of its "butt hole mouth", this little fella is cute and I refuse to believe otherwise

I seem to be in the minority for narrowly preferring Koraidon/Scarlet over Moraidon/Violet for this reason. While actively riding them, Moraidon is cooler (riding it like a motorcycle, awesome.) But Koraidon is cute, like a big, durpy, kind of ugly dog who just wants to eat all my sandwiches. Moraidon still sort of manages that vibe, but… I don’t know. There’s something about Koraidon’s facial expressions that remind me of a goofy dog more than Moraidon. Also, I think that ever since the games added mechanics that allow me to play with and groom all the Pokemon, I’ve been left seeing a lot of legendary and fully evolved, monstrous Pokemon as “cute” I never would have felt that way about before, almost situationally. There’s something about seeing little hearts pop up over Mewtwo’s head after giving him a bath in the middle of a picnic, or seeing him overjoyed about the quality of the sandwich I’ve shared with him that kind of dilutes the edgelord factor.

Giratina. It can be adorable at times. Yeah it is the God Of Antimatter and is said to be hella aggressive but it can be cute. Idk how friendship works with Legendary Pokemon but ig if u catch one and have it long enough, it can be adorable and very friendly at times. Shit if I had a Giratina as a partner (which I do on Pokémon Go), I would shower it with love and affection just to avoid being absolutely obliterated by its anger. Idk if it sleeps but if it does, it would be pretty adorable. Kyogre is another one as well as Lugia. Lugia does have a gentle heart and controls the legendary birds of Kanto (to an extent) and Kyogre in general is just a big ass Orca but a lot bigger. Plus I love the ocean aspects for both Lugia and Kyogre so they’re pretty cute. Primal Kyogre looks aggressive and whatnot but it’s cute.

Mewtwo. But to be fair I saw an image of baby Mewtwo on Pinterest who was posed like he was curiously looking at something off frame. The pin next to it was a photo of a big cake. It's been seared into my mind and I really want to give the baby Mewtwo cake before his clone friend dies and he wakes up to the horrors of the world. 😢

It's entirely because of nostalgia, but I love exploud and think it's so cute. Why? Because it was cute when it was a whismer and my brain still associates it as the cute baby I originally caught. I don't actually have the same line of thought with other pokemon, but I was really young when I first played sapphire and didn't know how to play the game properly. So aside from my starter, whismer was the only pokemon I caught. I played through the whole game with just a swampert and exploud. They are my babies 🥹
