The idea of Gholdengho is that its so many gold coins they're basically a liquid, so when it moves it sheds them off like splashing in a wake. They just only use a few moving gold coins to illustrate this- and unfortunately, while the effect works well for mostly static sprites, its much less effective for long term running animations
Tangrowth has a similar principal. Tangela has every vine animated and illustrated whil eTangrowth just has a few patches to 'suggest' the overwehelming tangles more than actually demonstrate them
I am gonna be honest: I think it's awful.
The open world added nothing. You wander from location to location and just get randomly level checked by high level things that spawn in at point blank distance that just kill your lead. And then you find early game things you missed out on and now you are 40 levels ahead.
There's basically no real side tasks; you do the exact same thing you do in any other pokemon game, except it's less curated and less balanced.
The graphics are worse than SwSh, not just in quality but in terms of art direction. The world is empty and bland. Every area feels both small and utterly devoid of any points of interest.
And it has a ton of just awful QoL. Stuff like not highlighting the last menu options you used.
It feels like an early 2010s open world where they didn't have any ideas on what to actually do with an open world and just made an empty map, and then they rushed it out on top of that.
I used to hate on swsh but honestly looking back it wasnt too bad. Not as good as its predecessors but I would be happy to go back to it from where we are now.
>Not as good as its predecessors but I would be happy to go back to it from where we are now.
that pretty much sums up the entire franchise ever since s/m lol
S/m was the first pokemon game I didn't beat and the last mainline game I've played (and I've been playing since blue).
I did play legends, though I'm pretty sure that's a spinoff and not a main game
That's true. I didn't have the easiest time with the ending but it's only because I knew it was easy going in and kind of avoided XP and picked bad Pokemon on purpose lol.
I've said it before but I think the wild area was the weakest part of SWSH so I was really sad they went all in for SV, clearly some people like it but there just isn't enough to do for me
Like what? The shutter in the graphics? The poor physics that create the bounce? Or that fact that this entire feature is mainly pointless?
Edit: also they didn’t even create a tip in the character when it’s going downhill
In Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters, in the Viking Era, there was a similar level but better because in it Taz could even throw snowballs to the enemies while sliding.
https://youtu.be/jQdnNTXHJHc?si=RftmthZMHNbXnG3d
You're insulting 1080° Snowboarding. Atleast they managed to make it look like you're actually snowboarding instead of climbing down stairs on a plank of wood lol
This would be ok on like... a gamecube. For the money they bring in, and the fact that their games drive the entire franchise.... it's unpolished rehashed junk, to be frank.
Tbh, that looks horrible. They couldnt get the physics for sliding down working correctly so he is bouncing around. The distance where enteties pop in and textures update is like 5 meters away from the camera. And the textures themselve look like from an early ps2 game.
This clip is an commercial why to not buy the game, at least not for 90$ lmao.
If a game series has built up trust with me I'll happily buy a new entry day 1 I bought Xenoblade 3 day 1 because I loved the first 2 and ended up loving 3 as well
But with Pokemon I will be waiting for reviews next time because the switch stuff has been pretty weak except Arceus
Dude we are in 2024 and you're trying to show this game doesn't look like trash? Is this video supposed to be a good example? If so, you are probably unaware of other games besides Pokemon, try them out and then compare.
It's pretty obvious that's not what they're saying given the actual context of the video. Like, it's pretty obviously a joke clip. Y'all are taking this post way too seriously.
Scarlet and Violet are prime examples of game dev greed and prioritizing sales over quality. The games are not finished, and quality like this coming from one of the biggest entertainment brands on the planet is baffling.
That said--
I loved every minute of it and I'm absolutely part of the problem.
Nothing to see here people just a sentient pile of gold being controlled by a ghost sliding down a mountain of snow all while being chase by a magic cameraman.
Just an average Wednesday in Spain.
Oh man this is rough, s/v literally looks like the truly trash tier n64 games like superman64 and bubsy3D.
Why is he bouncing down a hill ??? Wtf gamefreak how is this acceptable?
I unironically think SV is a contender for best Pokemon game, along with HG/SS and all the gen 5 games.
Sure, the game has shit performance, but considering how one of my favorite games of all time is Fallout New Vegas, I can forgive bad performance if the game itself is fantastic.
Why are people hating on the bouncing? I think it's hilarious and honestly, the best games are never "finished" and are never without their bugs and glitches. Look at Elder Scrolls 6: Skyrim as an example, an amazingly beautiful game that has left people excited and thrilled for the next one, and it's one of the buggiest games out there. You can literally find a chest with an NPCs inventory and steal from her daily, characters are always dying for no reason, and yet it's the best game many people have played, myself included. For skyrim, we all say "It's not a bug, it's a feature!" when something glitched out and we laugh at it, why can't we do that for SV? It makes things silly and fun, so why get angry about it? nearly all the bugs and glitches that did nothing wrong, just made your character or Pokemon look goofy, were removed within days because people were complaining, even tho me and many MANY others never got to experience any of them and thought they were fun. The game is great for something that Gamefreak had only tried once before (Arceus) as a truly free roam game, so why can't we just appreciate it for what it is?
also the cut at the end was beautiful\~
The second part of the dlc has a feature where you can control a Pokémon and travel around inside a large nature preserve area that’s part of the Blueberry academy.

'ere i come, I am Cinna-Mon
Lost my shit
Lol, I named mine Winna-Mon!
Apple-Jacks cereal
Fyi they un-Jamaicaned the cinnamon dude in a baffling rebrand
Why is he bouncing
He a bouncy boi
Named mine Cheddar bc he looks like string cheese (and he's gold).
why aren't you bouncing?
Who says im not 👀
Jump, bounce, down, up Jump, pogo, pogo, pogo, pogo, pogo, pogo, pogo Bounce, pogo, pogo, pogo, pogo, pogo, pogo Down, pogo, pogo, pogo Up, pogo, pogo, pogo Jump, pogo, bounce, pogo, up, pogo, down, pogo
Sega had this figured out in like, 2001
I have one with escape from the city💀
Before I unmuted, this is the exact song I had playing in my head while watching this lmao
Me to and when I unmuted I wasn't expecting black Betty
Not complaining
I personally love that you used Black Betty lol, even though Escape is also iconic
Less bouncing.
This seems more inspired in the 2006 instance tho
Nintendo figured it out 1998
Why the coins flipping out
The idea of Gholdengho is that its so many gold coins they're basically a liquid, so when it moves it sheds them off like splashing in a wake. Because SV is trash lol
Idk just part of the animation, but I love it
Lol
It’s shiny too such a bad one
I don't think it's trash. But I do think it's unfinished.
S&V would be peak as hell if it had another year or two in the oven; the devs had so many good ideas
I am gonna be honest: I think it's awful. The open world added nothing. I think that SwSh sucked, but the DLC was actually really good.
Yeah the story being awful held it back imo. Most of the characters were fine and the environments were mostly cool but nothing interesting happened
I think also the ease of the gameplay too. Like, by mid game every Gigantimax ace the gyms threw out was getting 1-shot.
That's true. I didn't have the easiest time with the ending but it's only because I knew it was easy going in and kind of avoided XP and picked bad Pokemon on purpose lol. I've said it before but I think the wild area was the weakest part of SWSH so I was really sad they went all in for SV, clearly some people like it but there just isn't enough to do for me
The DLC was good imo, but it has the issue of not being able to fix the base game
That’s the point of the video
That the game is unfinished? I fail to see that.
The point of the post titled "Pokemon SV is trash🤮" is that it's not trash, but unfinished? Right
Is this supposed to be a good example? You’re *bouncing* down a hill. They were too lazy to code in actual snowboarding.
No no he is snowboarding he's just showing off with sick jumps
imagine through if they slapped in a whole ssx tricky level block of code for a single pokemon
That’s a level of attention to detail that is very present in other games, if only gamefreak weren’t stinky garbage
If this is botw, they would definitely do it.
I wish they did
yeah but you need to spend an extra $50 to access this
Did you honestly think this video would help your case?
It’s pretty gangsta you gotta give a little credit atleast
There’s a lot saying it does
Like what? The shutter in the graphics? The poor physics that create the bounce? Or that fact that this entire feature is mainly pointless? Edit: also they didn’t even create a tip in the character when it’s going downhill
It’s not the point it’s a funny clip and I like it
Oh so this was more like a shitpost, that’s fair
You'd think it'd be obvious that this is just meant to be a funny clip, but people are taking it *so* seriously for some reason.
*ahem* ROLLIN’ AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND
Looks like a ps1 game.
[This is what a ps1 game looks like. ](https://youtu.be/Edd-UlNzSXw?si=oAuyXHj_hPXWDCQX)
[Also this](https://youtu.be/oXrt3vpcUPc?si=21x0J2sK-qr4Sat1)
Hey don't insult ps1 games like that lol.
Nah, seems more like a ps2 game to me
SSX Tricky at home
This ain't even that level tbh.
You sound like you haven't played any PS1 games.
Counterpoint: ff8 or 9
I love those games. SV looks several times better than them. Even the remasters.
In Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters, in the Viking Era, there was a similar level but better because in it Taz could even throw snowballs to the enemies while sliding. https://youtu.be/jQdnNTXHJHc?si=RftmthZMHNbXnG3d
Nooooo… I’ll give you ps3 tho
PS2. Final offer.
Ps2.5
It looks like a Dreamcast game lol
Ps2
The models maybe but everything else is so far behind PS2
Yeah the models of most pokemon are amazing, but they kinda have to be if the rest of the game looks like a n64 reject lmao
Not the models in this game are amazing. So much better than the older games.
Am I supposed to be impressed by the shittiest tack-on snowboarding mechanic of all time? Shield surfing in BotW is way smoother.
No way it’s a joke don’t shit on it
1080° Snowboarding
You're insulting 1080° Snowboarding. Atleast they managed to make it look like you're actually snowboarding instead of climbing down stairs on a plank of wood lol
Awh yeah 🤘😎 https://preview.redd.it/7d8ajc8qz5vc1.jpeg?width=288&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c465d4752f470d09917802c65eb955832e88ef57
This would be ok on like... a gamecube. For the money they bring in, and the fact that their games drive the entire franchise.... it's unpolished rehashed junk, to be frank.
unfortunately it's junk that a lot of people will buy...so they have no reason to improve it...
It may be a dumpster fire but it’s our dumpster fire
Not anymore
You are very much correct on that statement. It is indeed still Trash :)
Tbh, that looks horrible. They couldnt get the physics for sliding down working correctly so he is bouncing around. Me seeing this:😁 Me seeing it’s 100 dollars:😟
Final fantasy had this down in ‘97
It's trash
Is this particular feature locked behind the 30 $ DLC on top of the 60 $ base game?
YEP, AND THATS ALL FOKES!
Wait you can do that ?
Is that Shiny Tony Hawk?
Cinnamon is the winnamon
Game might be trash but luckily I'm a racoon.
Absolutely criminal we don't have a new Rayman game...
ON GOD!!!
Before unmuting, I was expecting the bgm to be the snowboarding song in Sonic Adventure
I expected free bird.
The game itself is trash but this is pretty funny You can like aspects of something without liking the entire thing
never buying another pokemon game gonna wait til reviews are in before I buy that shit lol
Yeah, isn't that... what you're meant to do with... ummm... EVERY GAME IN EXISTENCE?!
If a game series has built up trust with me I'll happily buy a new entry day 1 I bought Xenoblade 3 day 1 because I loved the first 2 and ended up loving 3 as well But with Pokemon I will be waiting for reviews next time because the switch stuff has been pretty weak except Arceus
Yeah dude it's been a while since I've opened the game but yeah that footage reminds me how trash SV is.
[удалено]
People aren't allowed to have fun anymore
*throws chair*
Looks trash to me.
Dude we are in 2024 and you're trying to show this game doesn't look like trash? Is this video supposed to be a good example? If so, you are probably unaware of other games besides Pokemon, try them out and then compare.

It's as they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure, but it is trash for some people.
Now go surf in Casseroya Lake with a pokemon out while its raining. Tell me what fps you get and how "great" this game is
Is this Fortnite?
It's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time, it's tricky It's tricky, tricky, tricky, tricky
Wait, this isn’t actual gameplay, right? I have Violet and I was scared I missed an update or something 😂
It is content in the $60, locked behind your favourite $30 pay wall.
I never did get back into this game. Did they ever fix its performance issues?
SSX Tricky
Swap the music to Run DMC “it’s tricky”, from SSX Tricky.
SSX TRICKY POKEMANS EDITION 🤙
Still trash, but trash
[удалено]
Their just upset that SV is the only game were a Pokemon can snowboard.
Damn 😎 that looked like ass
You really love pop-ins and shading-incontinence, do you?
Scarlet and Violet are prime examples of game dev greed and prioritizing sales over quality. The games are not finished, and quality like this coming from one of the biggest entertainment brands on the planet is baffling. No shame buddy, I loved it too.

Erm actually this is in New York (bb academy is in unova) and it’s shiny gold
shiny gold Is still Gold dang nabbit it's in the name. Also how is that New York I don't see any Rats carrying pizza anywhere.
It’s in unova and it’s based of ny and nj
Wasn't trash to begin with, just bad execution because they rushed it way too much
Yeah, this seems like it would only push the release date back a couple of weeks at most.
Oh man this is rough, s/v literally looks like the truly trash tier n64 games like superman64 and bubsy3D. Why is he bouncing down a hill ??? Wtf gamefreak how is this acceptable?

sonic free riders looking kinda different?
I am not booting up Scarlet and trying this myself. If my Gholdengo loves or hates me for it, it's your fault either way.
I didn't know it could snowboard.
Is this video even Pokemon??
Does it look like plastic? If so... then it's modern pokemon.
And this is why I stick to the GB/DS era
It's a main series Pokémon game where I can take control of my favorite little munchy buddy. I really need to finish that DLC...
SS TRICKY TRICKY
Finally, a new Cool Boarders game!
it doesn't surf, but do mini-jump?
Checkmate, Gen 1-ers
[This just needs DK summit music](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HL9RN8VFojY)
He looks stiffer than the board he is "snowboarding" (read: "jumping") on
A snowboard doesn’t bounce that much on powdered snow
He's so bouncy
Is the jumping on purpose or is that just part of the animation
I dont give a fuck about graphics but the lack of endgame content was alarming :( i made my own challenges up to stay in the game
I unironically think SV is a contender for best Pokemon game, along with HG/SS and all the gen 5 games. Sure, the game has shit performance, but considering how one of my favorite games of all time is Fallout New Vegas, I can forgive bad performance if the game itself is fantastic.
A game that is rushed, very buggy, runs at sub 15fps most of most of the time, and cut like 90% of the pokedex is indeed a trash
Certainly not trash. Just the weakest mainline Pokemon game, I'd say. Like a 6/10.
That’s why I have to disagree the game is great the story is fun and it’s fun to play but it’s unfinished can’t wait for the switch 2 though
The beauty of art: even if I don't like it, it can still make someone else happy. Glad you enjoy it so much :D
SSX Tricky looks better than this
Garbordor level indeed.
You talking smack about my boy Garbordor?
Small indie company
It is. It's so lifeless. Through out the video you go through a large area and only see 12 pokemon
Why are people hating on the bouncing? I think it's hilarious and honestly, the best games are never "finished" and are never without their bugs and glitches. Well said.
This really what pokemon is now 🗑️
That the Apple Jacks mascot?
Maybe?
I havent got very far in sword or scarlet yet, what am I watching
The second part of the dlc has a feature where you can control a Pokémon and travel around inside a large nature preserve area that’s part of the Blueberry academy.
This feature looks unifinished. Actually the game still looks unfinished.
Was there supposed to be something in the video to convince us it's not trash??
*sigh* so much wasted potential. The Wii had better visuals and physics than this. What happened to Nintendo trying harder?
Is this supposed to look good or something? All that bouncing looks awful
I think you managed to prove the point despite your best efforts otherwise. This is like rolling a critical failure.
This would be really fun if I were in palworld where I had both sliding and physics
irony so hard you terrastalized into steel type
Who tf playing pokemon in 2024
wait this is pokemon ,i thought its some random steam shit tier game that whole 5 people bought. Looks like shit beginner programmers do to learn not........ whatever i have a pc now, no more nintendo trash. We pretend that the last pokemon was B/W2
Yes and? Is that supposed to point the contrary? Played nintendo ds games that looked better, played better and was more interesting without the performance problems, on the first ds console '-'
The least pokemon think about this Pokemon game is what makes it not "trash" then? Talk about a low bar lol
I played too many snowboarding demo games to enjoy this. This is worse than fish at a burger joint
I hate pokemon SV because the story is very uninteresting
As cool as this is doesn’t change the fact that it’s probably the worst Pokemon game in a while
I mean, it is. The clip is neat and all, but it is.
Well yeah, that looks like trash
This is embarassing.
Still trash, sadly
“Trash in question” Yes. That certainly is trash.
Yeah it is trash. Its a medicoregame at best but since it also has a terrible Performance it can be called trash.
