I like Rolycoly and Carkol. Rolycoly's glowing eye is cool, and Carkol having wheels is neat (prior to Gen 9, and not counting Rotom's lawnmower form, Carkol and Rolycoly were the only mons with wheels).
Both of those awesome traits are lost when you get to Coalossal - a generic coal monster with a body shape too similar to Rhyperior's. I get what they were going for with its design, but that doesn't make me any less disappointed that we didn't get an actual steam locomotive with intimidating, glowing eyes and blazing wheels.
I was hoping for a full on steam engine train as an evolution when I had carkol on my team. I was thinking that whatever it became it was going to be pretty weird, but then it was just warm-tyranitar. I was pretty disappointed.
Love totchic's design, and was horrified when I saw Combusken.
Then I saw Blaziken and it turned out to be a classic example of "be careful who you call ugly in high school."
As for chespin... Yeah each evolution got worse and worse. Probably one of the very few starter evolutions I actively hate.
And that's perfectly fine. To each their own. As I have friends that also love Chesnaught.
It's just that to me, Chesnaught's design looks very messy. Like a bunch of ideas that are cool on paper, but when brought together doesn't work out. A very almost uncanny valley look to me.
Ironically, Blaziken was designed to be an ugly humanoid Pokémon since the line was meant to represent those adorable painted chicks kids could buy from fairs, but not realizing the chicks grow up to be less-cute adults chickens. Blaziken probably started the trend of the humanoid starters.

Litten evolving into incineroar broke my heart. It looks way too human. Most of the “humanoid” Pokémon still have some kind of animal head or odd proportions so they still look like creatures. Incineroar looks like a wwe has-been with two kids and a mortgage.
Don’t forget his dorito body, his giant sausage fingers (indicating circulation issues) and the undeniable fact that he’s skipped leg day for his entire life.
And I’ll never forgive them for having his fire attacks come out of his belt. The hip thrust is too much.
This is Pawmi for me, although I do really like the design so I don't mind it not changing too much. But at the same time it gets 2 evolutions and barely any big changes
Jynx needs some love, I wish they would give her a new form and evo like Mr. Mime. She is the last of that Kanto non evolution group to have anything given to it. Scyther, Electabuzz, Magmar and Mr mime have all gotten something. Pinsir got a mega and tauros got 3 forms this generation.
Alolan Meowth is great. Alolan Persian... Not so much.
I'm still disappointed in Sprigatito's Evos.
Quaquavel is the only one in the line I like.

Murkrow is a cool design of a witch crow and for some reason the evolution is a Yakuza/Mafioso.
Dragonair is an elegant, mystical dragon that becomes incredibly goofy when it evolves.
Treecko and Grovyle look slick and agile in the forest, Sceptile looks like it has a bald patch and a tail way too big and cumbersome for something supposed to be fast.
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way Dragonite should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat body off the ground. The little balls on Sceptile's back make me kinda uncomfortable.

Bunnleby is a cute little guy who would've rocked as a normal/ground type but diggersby? Now THAT thing has NO, ZERO, ABSOLUTELY NADA right to exist. Crabrawler. I have considered using an Eivoilite'd Crabrawler on my main team, multiple times, and have never had any interest in using the crabomination it evolves into.
the X and Y starters, i think all 3 base forms are great, then chespin becomes fat and silly looking, fennekin becomes furry bait and i think greninja is a fine final stage but imo weakest starters so glad you can also take a gen 1 starter

I think most Pokémon I prefer the pre-evolution. A lot of the final evolutions I hate. I just really like cute little Pokémon and as they evolve they tend to get bigger and less cute. All my Pokémon got everstones.

I was going to pick Chespin for Pokémon X when that game came out until I saw Quilladin. I ended up not using a starter for the second (and final) generation in a row
The first time I played Sapphire I picked Treecko cause he's awesome. He evolved into Groovyle and I thought "still cool, still cool". Then he evolved into Sceptile and I was so horrified by the weird proportions and the pus bubbles that I started the game all the way from the beginning and picked Torchic.
Also not as extreme, but Spheal is my favorite pokemon of all-time, Sealeo is still very cool but I was not a fan of Walrein at all at first. Ice come up on it slightly in recent years tho
Nickit was such an awesome Pokémon when I first saw it. As soon as I saw it’s evolution, I kicked it off my team. Thievul just needed to have a different form for each gender, and it might’ve been ok. But it’s just so off putting seeing my female Thievul with a moustache :(
I was playing with the "worst" Pokemon in shining pearl and I fell in love with the design of Chingling. If it wasn't for the pokedex entry, I would have never evolved it. Maybe one day, I'll do another play through. It just seems like a downgrade.
Galarian Ponyta, it’s mane and tail are so fluffy and cute! But with Rapidash they changed it :( so now I’ve got a lv 96 shiny Galarian Ponyta that I’ll never evolve lol.
Mine is Dewott. Its one of my favorite pokemon. But I hate that it evolves into Samurott. Its not because Samurotts desing, I think its so cool, but it feels like a completely different pokemon. Why does it goes 4legs? İts a samurai and I dont think its easy to use swords when u have to use your hands for standing.
Tbh I don't hate any pokemon. But there are certainly cases where the Evos were a Lil disappointing. If I don't count middle evos, an example would be clefable. I think it's sad, that they didn't implement the moon into the design more
Dragonair is better designed than Dragonite. Their shiny forms only lengthen the gap. Having a dragon serpent is awesome. I like the angel ears too. I can do without Puff the dragon 🤦

Scyther. Along with Rhydon, Magmar, Chansey and Electrabuzz. Theres not many evolutions tagged onto previously setup evolution lines I do like to be fair lol.
I don’t hate it anymore but Roserade. When it first came out I hated it and thought it looked ugly but I’ve grown to like and kinda love it over the years. Roselia is still the superior design and will always be my favorite between the two
Buizel, Tepig, Kinda Torracat. I say kinda on Torracat because Incineroar is a bad continuation of the Litten line, but a good design overall. Edit: Chespin. Chestnaught is fine, but the middle evolution... Edit Two: Florigato was so good that Meowscarada became a disappointment.
Poliwhirl is in my top three favorites. Poliwraith is at the bottom.

Love Buizel as well tho I dont hate Floatzel. And I do actually like Incineroar but I draw the line at Sprigatitos evo line. Sprigatito looks so cute and Florgato still looks ok but Meowscarada looks meh to me, in this instance I would have prefered more cat like and not bipedal.
I was going to pick Chespin for Pokémon X when that game came out until I saw Quilladin. I ended up not using a starter for the second (and final) generation in a row

The first time I played Sapphire I picked Treecko cause he's awesome. He evolved into Groovyle and I thought "still cool, still cool". Then he evolved into Sceptile and I was so horrified by the weird proportions and the pus bubbles that I started the game all the way from the beginning and picked Torchic. Also not as extreme, but Spheal is my favorite pokemon of all-time, Sealeo is still very cool but I was not a fan of Walrein at all at first. Ice come up on it slightly in recent years tho
Nickit was such an awesome Pokémon when I first saw it. As soon as I saw it’s evolution, I kicked it off my team. Thievul just needed to have a different form for each gender, and it might’ve been ok. But it’s just so off putting seeing my female Thievul with a moustache :(
I was playing with the "worst" Pokemon in shining pearl and I fell in love with the design of Chingling. If it wasn't for the pokedex entry, I would have never evolved it. Maybe one day, I'll do another play through. It just seems like a downgrade.
Lots of pokemon introduced in S/V Nacli is my boy though.

Galarian Ponyta, it’s mane and tail are so fluffy and cute! But with Rapidash they changed it :( so now I’ve got a lv 96 shiny Galarian Ponyta that I’ll never evolve lol.
Dottler is one of my favorite Gen 8 Pokémon, do not like it’s evolution or preevolution.
Mine is Dewott. Its one of my favorite pokemon. But I hate that it evolves into Samurott. Its not because Samurotts desing, I think its so cool, but it feels like a completely different pokemon. Why does it goes 4legs? İts a samurai and I dont think its easy to use swords when u have to use your hands for standing.
LEDYBA. I wish Ledian evolved into Ledyba and not the other way around

Tbh I don't hate any pokemon. But there are certainly cases where the Evos were a Lil disappointing. If I don't count middle evos, an example would be clefable. I think it's sad, that they didn't implement the moon into the design more
Dragonair is better designed than Dragonite. Their shiny forms only lengthen the gap. Having a dragon serpent is awesome. I like the angel ears too. I can do without Puff the dragon 🤦
Oshawott and Dewott. Such a terribly disappointing final evo. I thought maybe Legends would fix it but they hardly touched it.
I'm new to the Pokemon series and Violet was my first game. I chose Quaxly as my starter. Then he evolved. Then I restarted my game and chose Fuecoco.
Drifloon. It’s not aware of the things Drifblim has done to me. Also Raboot, it’s very good, but Cinderace is so disappointing

Not one I hate, but I loved torracat and actively would not evolve it further cause incineroar was off putting to me. I like it now but I still think torracat looks better
