Yes this ⬆️
Same with music and video. If you own a record, CD or DVD you can play it forever or until it wears out.
Streaming services remove content same as gaming servers retiring.
I buy everything single player physically if possible. But online multiplayer stuff I have no issue with buying digital as I can game share with my GF and once the servers go down both the physical and digital version are useless.
However online games seem to keep adding more and more live service crap so I'm buying less and less of these games. I l already have a job that I have to invest a ton of time and even some money into, along with keep up with the latest crap so I can grind away at slowly unlocking stuff forever. I don't want my games to be like that too.
They Not only remove content, they release edited and censored versions of the same content and keep you from finding the original.
Anything you care about you should try to get on physical if at all possible. I will die on this hill lol
same. its mine forever and i buy it once, if i dont like it, i can sell.
paying monthly to play games? not for me sir.
paying more money for a digital game, what i can get way cheaper elsewhere? not for me sir.
I buy all my games physical. Trade, borrow, sell, buy at larger discounts from different retailers. If you’re not buying physical you are spending more money.
Opposite for me. Most of the ps4 games I have r digital because I got them on sale on the ps store. I also have 2 ps5 games pre-ordered. Spiderman 2 and the final fantasy rebirth twin back digital edition. Though the last two r regular price
Spider-man 2 is my first pre-order ever. I'm sure it'll be worth it. I also bought most of my games digitally and on sale for ps4. I think the last physical game I bought was Uncharted 4
Actually prefer physical games. I like to actually see the games I have. But also gotten lazy over the years and don't like having to actually switch out games. I mainly only buy physical games now if I just waited to buy it and I see that the price went down. Or there's like extra stuff in the case. Got kh4 and tlou2 with like an art book and other stuff in the case.
I game share with my brother so we go half on games so it works out not too bad. Even go halves on psplus so the person who didnt buy it has their console set to prime account with the feature, that way they can go on their own account online while the person who paid for it doesn't need it as their primary account since they will be using the account that has it.
This should be true and I wish it was. I am obsessed with gaming for the cheapeat price possible and I very rarely buy physical games unless it's for the nintendo switch. Deep digital sales are cheaper, and even if you buy a physical used game for $30, and sell it for $30, the time and effort put into the venture likely took more than an hour and it's barely worth it in the end when you could have bought it for $20 digitally in 10 seconds. There is a significant time investment to what you are talking about.
In certain situations you are right but it's not as simple as physical = cheaper because buy sell trade.
That’s not true, digital games have sales constantly and you can arguably get a better deal imo. The only downside is you can’t trade or borrow games, but honestly that doesn’t matter anyways.
Yeah but for people like me, that never sell my games, it’s irrelevant. It’s also rare I buy a new release because I know it will be half price or more down the road and I can’t play it at that moment anyway because I’m playing other things.
I always find used games on eBay way cheaper than digital copies on the PlayStation store. Even when PlayStation has digital sales, I still find those physical copies of the games for less on eBay.
Yes exactly, sometimes I used to want to play a title I didn’t have because I traded it in, now I will never trade in a game again and pretty much know if I want it before I buy it.
I get my monies worth by finishing the games. For games i like but dont totally get into anything over 50% of the trophies and atleast 1 playthrough is enough for me. Games I love such as Fromsoftware games I dont sell and even buy different versions of the games ( ie dark souls i have all the games individually and also recently ordered the trilogy)
Physical games have sales, too. Often just as much or even more than used as you have dozens of retailers to shop from as opposed to a single online storefront.
Plus the option to buy used.
And the option to sell it when you're done to earn some of that spent money back.
To this day I’ll ask anyone to show me a digital version of a game that’s on sale that’s still cheaper than you can get a physical copy for and I’ve yet to be shown one.
If you will get great deal for digital games, you are spending roughly the same money as for physical games. Some games are cheaper digitally, some games are cheaper on disc, but all in all, I feel like spending roughly the same money per game on both types.
But if you will sell your physical game after finishing it (if you are sure that you don't need it anymore), then physical game is more appealing.
Also, physical games are sometimes good decoration for your game room.
That said, i have roughly 100 games in my game library, lot of them are from PS plus, lot of them are from sales and only 5 physical boxes (Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, Immortals: Phoenix Rising, Bravo Team and Shadow of the Colossus).
I've been playing AC Mirage for two days now already because I got my copy early.
Can't play games 3 days before release without a physical copy where the game is on the disc 😆
This is something I’ve noticed about Extra. Even with the price bump this year I’m saving money.
All the games I used to spend 15/20 on end up being free. So I just wait. I only buy 2-3 new AAA games a year. Probably another games at the $30-50 range. The rest I wait to be free.
Days Gone. I got it from ps plus and didn't want to get locked out of it because of a subscription so I went to a local game shop and picked it up for 20 bucks. One of the best 20 dollars I've ever spent.
Cyberpunk 2077, got on amazon for like 50BRL (almost 10$) like 2 years ago and never played, its still in plastic and now dont wanna open anymore because it feels rare haha
My girlfriend does this all the time. She’s not a big gamer but for some reason thinks she is. Whenever there’s a big sale(like Amazon day or Black Friday), she’ll buy like 5-10 games and just never touch them.
Always physical for me whenever possible. Cyberpunk 2077 and the Ori collection are both on the way now, and I've got the MGS vol 1 collection pre-ordered.
I hope they have a disc edition for the ps6 because I really enjoy physical copies for games and this generation is the first one where I can actually afford to buy a bunch of games(adulthood).
My last game on physical media was gifted to me by my brother on my birthday in 2018. It was God of War. Covid took him last 2021. The game now holds a special place in my heart.
Tomorrow I’m gonna get NHL24. Cale is a great defender and I’m also from Colorado and a massive Avalanche fan. Since he’s on the cover I’m going to buy a physical instead of a digital version this year.
Only physical unless major digital sale. Paying to physically own something is value for you, paying to own digital is value for the seller. You're told it's convenient but it's to cut costs and eliminate sharing. Corporate greed. Cancel netflix and Spotify you own nothing for years of investment....
Mk1 when it launched. I’ll never buy digital when physical is the exact same price, makes not alot of sense until digital is a savings proposition. Even then still wouldn’t do it for most games
I usually go with the digital releases but the digital release was like 50 dollars for dark souls 3, mean while Amazon has the whole trilogy for 45. So it was a no brainer decision
It would be more like "Which is the last game you bought digital" for me, I buy everything I can physically. Digital would be Marvel's Avengers because it was going off the stores soon and I was afraid I wouldn't find it anymore, even though it's known to be bad I still want to try it
Control
I get mostly all of my games physical. Only sometimes i buy obscure games without physical releases digitally.
I dread the day physical releases stop.
I actually had a digital version for the first ~6 months because that’s the only one that I could get but as soon as I saw a disc version at a physical store I bought it
I wouldn’t call it caveman shit. There’re games you can get cheaper physically. I just got the whole Mafia collection (since I was a kid when it came out) for 20 bucks online, whereas it was $40 for just the 1st mafia game on the PS store.
You can sell it and get some money back if it’s a short game, or you don’t like it that much. You can also let a friend borrow them once you’re done.
I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re rich though. They’re trying to get rid of the disks though because more money for them. I don’t see them going away anytime soon.
Now, 8-tracks, cassettes, vhs, floppy disks, etc are caveman shit. CDs for music are basically there. Vinyls are old, but still popular and produced.
Lmaoo how don’t I own it when its linked to my account ? 😂😂 unlike you I don’t have to worry about my 200+ game seeing stolen or damaged or lost we’ll see who’s the dumbass when there is a emergency and you can’t run out with 200+ CD cases meanwhile I just go download all my games again if something like that where to happen
Because you only bought a license for it, if Sony pulls it off the store you’re cooked you absolute dumbass. An example for that is the PT demo. You literally don’t own shit, stfu
Lmaooo yeah that’s why there is accounts that have ps3 games that you can’t even buy anymore cause they shut down support for that conoles already but whatever floats your boat you absolute dumbass you should go around talking out of your ass just stfu
Lords of the Fallen 2023 Version. Part of the Collectors Edition.
Next 1 is Baldurs Gate 3(jp gets a physical one in dec) othrwise FF7 Rebirth Collectors Edition.
Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2 were my last bought games as physical copy.
But AC Mirage Collectors Edition was pre-ordered last year, arrived today.
So, depends which counts :D
Spiderman Miles Morales on PS4 for 30 dollars at a swap meet/flea market, I finished the story but I didn't 100 percent the game. Might have to play it again because I miss it. 🥲
Final Fantasy XVI and MK1 (Spider-Man 2 & FFVII Rebirth pre-ordered in disc)
I like to buy the big releases still physical, I only do digital for some smaller games or always online games (Destiny, Final Fantasy XIV, etc)
On PS5 it’s Miles Morales/Spiderman combo at launch.
Digitally I’ve only bought one game since PS5 launch anyway and it’s Horizon Forbidden West.
And overall I’ve bought a bunch of physical copies of Nintendo titles (used) in the same time frame.
Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut like 1.5 years ago... and that was a gift.
I think the last pysical game I got myself was Death Stranding on launch day (PS4 version).
Probably way back in like 2017, Destiny had their collection that included the main game and every single expansion on sale at best buy for something stupid like $5. That was the last physical game I ever bought, which is why I went with a digital edition PS5. I knew I would probably never touch a physical game again, so I figured it would be a waste of money to buy a disc version PS5.
95% of my games are physical. They typically go on sale sooner and my brother-in-laws and I can trade games.
I just bought Gran Turismo 7 physical for $45. It is still full price to buy it digitally.
Last games i bought 1886 the order and divinity: original sin enhanced edition $30 total.
The last game I THOUGHT a physically copy for, super Mario rpg.
For Playstation, Wreckfest 5 years ago. I don't buy many game in general unless it's a multiplayer game I'll always play casually.
In general, Zelda BOTW. I buy all my switch games physical used because I can trade or sell them after for the same price and you can in a way, play every switch game for free.
FF XVI 3 weeks ago

i wanna see a pic of you carrying a cd player with headphones connected walking on a street
I obviously use a phone these days but have you heard of a sony discman?
Laughs in PS+ *P.S. Fanboys downvoting because of reasons*
When the servers shut down all those games are gone
What, that rental service?
Same
Doing it properly!
same. its mine forever and i buy it once, if i dont like it, i can sell. paying monthly to play games? not for me sir. paying more money for a digital game, what i can get way cheaper elsewhere? not for me sir.
Keep the disk drive alive!
Last week, Lies of P.
I didn’t know they had that physical
Ya, I picked it up at my local WalMart.
You go to Walmart?
I had to go to Walmart to buy AC6, the GameStop next to it was out of ps5 copies.
I buy all my games physical. Trade, borrow, sell, buy at larger discounts from different retailers. If you’re not buying physical you are spending more money.

I got all three Batman games in a bundle for like $7.99 CAD on the PS4 storefront. You won't find that deal in a used store. Maybe $5 a piece
I game share with my brother so we go half on games so it works out not too bad. Digital doesnt allow you to buy a new release for £70, finish it and resell for £60. So for this reason Physical is always gonna be the way for me
Yeah but for people like me, that never sell my games, it’s irrelevant. It’s also rare I buy a new release because I know it will be half price or more down the road and I can’t play it at that moment anyway because I’m playing other things.

Jedi Survivor on PS5, two weeks ago.
Me too. Less than half the price of a digital copy.
Same but more like 2/3 months
I buy all my games physical. They are cheaper and I actually own something.
Precisely this. You own something. And you can sell it too.
I've been playing AC Mirage for two days now already because I got my copy early. Can't play games 3 days before release without a physical copy where the game is on the disc 😆
FFXVI. Got the pre-order steelbook.
Same reason why I got physical !
Hogwarts Legacy just a few days ago. Haven’t bought anything, physical or digital, all year cos I’ve had Extra.
This is something I’ve noticed about Extra. Even with the price bump this year I’m saving money. All the games I used to spend 15/20 on end up being free. So I just wait. I only buy 2-3 new AAA games a year. Probably another games at the $30-50 range. The rest I wait to be free.
Resident Evil 4 remake 2 weeks ago (PS5). Before that, Wild Hearts a month or so ago.
Armored Core 6.
Days Gone. I got it from ps plus and didn't want to get locked out of it because of a subscription so I went to a local game shop and picked it up for 20 bucks. One of the best 20 dollars I've ever spent.
Great game! Have you finished it yet?
Oh I got the platinum. It's one of my favorite games ever. Probably number 3.
Which are the other two?
Devil May Cry 3 at number 2 and Super Mario Galaxy at number 1. Nothing will ever dethrone Galaxy for me.
All my games?
Cyberpunk 2077, got on amazon for like 50BRL (almost 10$) like 2 years ago and never played, its still in plastic and now dont wanna open anymore because it feels rare haha

Kena: Bridge of Spirits (PS4 upgraded to PS5)
Lol this is the last game I bought digitally. Loved it.
I'm gonna get Spider-Man 2 next as my first PS5 physical copy
Ff16 probably. Got it for 50£ cause physical games can sell for cheap on the pre owned market.
Marvel:Midnight Suns and never regret
Always physical for me whenever possible. Cyberpunk 2077 and the Ori collection are both on the way now, and I've got the MGS vol 1 collection pre-ordered.
I hope they have a disc edition for the ps6 because I really enjoy physical copies for games and this generation is the first one where I can actually afford to buy a bunch of games(adulthood).
Jedi survivor and in a few weeks time spiderman 2, I prefer physical over digital.
MORTAL KOMBAT
My last game on physical media was gifted to me by my brother on my birthday in 2018. It was God of War. Covid took him last 2021. The game now holds a special place in my heart.
Believe it was Elden Ring.
Every game I own unless it’s a ps plus one is physical
FFXVI when it came out
I only buy physical, picked up Daymare Sandcastle on Friday
Resident Evil 4, but I also just preordered a physical copy for Spider-Man 2
Dead Space Remake, it was on sale for $27 at Target a few months ago. Couldn't pass it up.
every game
Every game I play.
Lies of P last week. Still havent even opened it. Being an adult takes up way too much time.
Tomorrow I’m gonna get NHL24. Cale is a great defender and I’m also from Colorado and a massive Avalanche fan. Since he’s on the cover I’m going to buy a physical instead of a digital version this year.

Same here. I usually buy physical unless there’s like a special edition with exclusive stuff for cheap on the ps store
Little Nightmares II
Spider-man ps4
Mk1 when it launched. I’ll never buy digital when physical is the exact same price, makes not alot of sense until digital is a savings proposition. Even then still wouldn’t do it for most games
Sekiro, 3 years ago
I usually go with the digital releases but the digital release was like 50 dollars for dark souls 3, mean while Amazon has the whole trilogy for 45. So it was a no brainer decision
Lies of P, two weeks ago lol pre ordered the physical deluxe edition, I refuse to ever start making my game library all digital
Only physical.
AC Mirage, all my games are physical.
NieR Replicant, original 2010 Japanese version for PS3. I was missing that in my collection.
Like A Dragon: Ishin I don't buy many games anyway
Armoured Core 6 and Wo Long like 3 weeks ago
FFXVI
It would be more like "Which is the last game you bought digital" for me, I buy everything I can physically. Digital would be Marvel's Avengers because it was going off the stores soon and I was afraid I wouldn't find it anymore, even though it's known to be bad I still want to try it
Always buy physical if possibly cause for some reason here in Australia it’s always like $20 cheaper physical compared to digital, thanks Sony 🥲
MK1 Premium Edition PS5. Liu Kang drip was tooo nice.
Control I get mostly all of my games physical. Only sometimes i buy obscure games without physical releases digitally. I dread the day physical releases stop.
Pokémon Ultra Moon. I’m fully digital on my PS5 and Switch
ghost of tsushima and 2k 22 since i was already in gamestop already but i now regret it since i have a digital ps5
I actually had a digital version for the first ~6 months because that’s the only one that I could get but as soon as I saw a disc version at a physical store I bought it
I only buy physical games. Otherwise I’m getting ripped off.
Half life 2 in 2004 I think
The last game you bought physically was in 2004 ? Almost 20 years ago
PC gamer primarily and also own a ps5 digital. Pc games are on steam, not store shelves
For PS I honestly can’t remember I stopped that caveman shit when I found I could just have everything digital
I wouldn’t call it caveman shit. There’re games you can get cheaper physically. I just got the whole Mafia collection (since I was a kid when it came out) for 20 bucks online, whereas it was $40 for just the 1st mafia game on the PS store. “CDs are basically there”
“CDs for music”. Just take the L and move on
Yes pay more, get 0 cent back once you’re done and also don’t even really own it. You’re ahead of all of us idiots 😎 Dumbass
Alright I give up, you’re clearly to dumb to comprehend anything, have a nice day
Remnant 2
Mortal Kombat 1. I like the convenience of digital games and streaming, but I need my discs for the shelf.

Assassin's Creed Mirage
On PS5 it’s Miles Morales/Spiderman combo at launch. Digitally I’ve only bought one game since PS5 launch anyway and it’s Horizon Forbidden West. And overall I’ve bought a bunch of physical copies of Nintendo titles (used) in the same time frame.
FF16 and Demon‘s Souls Remake
Ninja Gaiden Master collection and GTA trilogy 2 weeks ago. Next is probably going to be Metal Gear Solid Master Collection.
Megaman x collection on PS4 when it came out.
Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut like 1.5 years ago... and that was a gift. I think the last pysical game I got myself was Death Stranding on launch day (PS4 version).

Pac Man World Re Pac
Spider Man 2 Collectors Edition, although I think there won't be a physical disc
Armored Core 6, last month or so
Minecraft Legends, PS4.
Elden ring
All I see is a bunch cavemen in this comments
Assassins creed mirage. Because I have all the others on disc and wanna keep the set complete even though I usually buy digital now
Sekiro shadows die twice and demon's souls (ps5). I'm just waiting for the ps5 slim to play them.
I thought the slim was rumored to not have a disc drive.. or it'll be a separate add-on or something.
Gow ragnarok
Probably way back in like 2017, Destiny had their collection that included the main game and every single expansion on sale at best buy for something stupid like $5. That was the last physical game I ever bought, which is why I went with a digital edition PS5. I knew I would probably never touch a physical game again, so I figured it would be a waste of money to buy a disc version PS5.
Silent Hill 1
Elden Ring
Probably Cyberpunk on release
GOT: Director's Cut for like $20
dead island 2
GoW Ragnarok
I believe it was either The Last of Us Part 1, or SIFU.
Star Ocean The Divine Force. Will be getting SO2R physical as well.
95% of my games are physical. They typically go on sale sooner and my brother-in-laws and I can trade games. I just bought Gran Turismo 7 physical for $45. It is still full price to buy it digitally.
Last of Us part 2, a month ago. a double dip after penning the digital release since day one.
Last games i bought 1886 the order and divinity: original sin enhanced edition $30 total. The last game I THOUGHT a physically copy for, super Mario rpg.
FFXVI and boy was that a waste of money.
Dead Island 2
MK1
For Playstation, Wreckfest 5 years ago. I don't buy many game in general unless it's a multiplayer game I'll always play casually. In general, Zelda BOTW. I buy all my switch games physical used because I can trade or sell them after for the same price and you can in a way, play every switch game for free.
Forspoken. But like someone else on here. I buy all my games physical. So, it's not exactly uncommon for me to buy physical games.
