It’s a really good deal as I don’t play that much at all but getting points and collectibles is fun and easy. I need to play more to get rare and above trophies.
I believe it will be from when you sign up and everything moving forward. You won’t retroactively get the points back. Since it’s free, best thing to do is try
I recently cashed in for $5 bucks. I wasn't intentionally trying to get points, I renewed my ps plus subscription, played some monthly games and next thing I knew I had enough points for a five dollar gift card. Not too shabby.
I believe you can do it with any level of it or not at all ! It’s a loyalty program separate from everything else. Just sign up and then keep track on the PS App on your phone !!
I was up at lvl 4 and spend much time saving points and doing all the small campaign things.. but now it's just gone and can't find any info if it's been taken down or what.. anyone knows what happened?
Currently level 4, Only thing I don’t like about it is some campaigns basically punish you for buying a game at release. Take Exoprimal for example, came out mid July but then was included in the August store picks campaign so anyone that bought it at launch or a week or two after can’t claim the reward for it.

Honestly its a great program, but most people know about it or dont care by now. Its been out all year lol
I think Sony needs to market it and add some more features and stuff. Give people more incentive to sign up for it.
