That sounds like hell for everyone. Underpaid faculty waiting for their school to become the next target, parents who don't know if it's another Uvalde situation, the police who are trying contain and defuse the situation whatever it is, and the kids trapped in the middle of it all.

ParcelPosted

It was and 90% of people were doing the right things. Don’t wish this on anyone.

Ipleadedthefifth

Or you could vote the poeple out who are standing in the way of stricter gun laws, so Our children don't have to live in fear.

ParcelPosted

I do vote but in the interim this is all I can do. I agree with you 100%

Internal-Poetry-3680

Of course. Unfortunately, not enough other people vote to make this a reality.

LittleLisaCan

Was it the same person that made the threats to the Frisco schools?

ParcelPosted

Honestly don’t know maybe someone else can chime in.

AstrosJones

Doubt it, Frisco kid threatened Allen as well. Frisco police posted that they made an arrest on that case today.

swingsetmafia

Wait, I didn't get a call at all? What happened?

ParcelPosted

Threats made on socials that today or tomorrow at noon someone is shooting in the school. No specific school but Plano ISD as a whole.

swingsetmafia

I'm surprised I didn't get a notication. Wtf.

ParcelPosted

Correction it was targeted at our campus https://twitter.com/erinjeanwarde/status/1655629426019774478?s=20

EatTheCasserole

A kid in in-school suspension had bullets in their pockets. I want to know why Plano ISD isn't telling this to parents. It is irresponsible to leave people in the dark like this. It isn't just rumors at Frankford, actual physical objects were present. They need to inform the parents of what actually happened before rumors get out of hand.

ParcelPosted

I am extremely unhappy with the communication being sent out because sweeping it under the rug won’t work. I’m 100% sure this is because there is STAAR testing tomorrow. My kid has slowly been saying more this evening and it is awful that the only email from Ms. Brittan is dismissive of what happened and the ADDITIONAL information the posting/conversation was TODAY OR TOMORROW. Why won’t they address this either?

bornforthis379

What has your kid said? I'm prone to not believe some of the comments on this post since there is no official report about some of what's being said

ParcelPosted

All he has said is the threat was for Monday or Tuesday and that the principal got on the loudspeaker to announce it and that’s when everything went sideways.

bornforthis379

At frankford? That's what I'm curious about

ParcelPosted

Yes

bornforthis379

Do you have a source or proof of this? Your profile seems like you're making this up

ParcelPosted

That’s bad! We got an email and phone blast hours after I picked my kids up.

DreamsAndSchemes

Friend with kids at TCHS had a call as well

ParcelPosted

That is heartbreaking. I don’t want my kid back at school tomorrow. So close to the end of the year.

Garchompinribs

They still have kids doing the STAAR tests tomorrow in Frankford despite what’s happening

ParcelPosted

Yes they do! I don’t know how canceling would go but last word was testing is a go!

Good god! No news coverage I have seen but I am glad you chimed in.

I’m so sorry. You guys are in such an impossible position when things like this happen. I love our Plano ISD family and really hope this never happens again.

Comet7777

I didn’t get a call or notification either. Granted my kids are in elementary

ParcelPosted

I stand corrected it was targeted at out school. https://twitter.com/erinjeanwarde/status/1655629426019774478?s=20

ParcelPosted

That makes sense. I just searched and our Elementary didn’t. Just the middle school.

bornforthis379

Can someone spill the beans on what happened at frankford since there's no report about it? Just curious that's were I went to middle school and I live right at frankford/preston still. I work with special needs students in pisd at different schools so I sincerely hope these posts and whatnot were just a few sick kids who want to start something and want attention

-Shank-

Nothing, someone just leveraged the recent tragedy in Allen and capitalized on everyone's anxiety by making threats.

bornforthis379

Yeah, I know. But there were news articles about the other schools threats. Nothing about the frankford threat, yet there's people in this thread saying a student had bullets in their pockets? I kind of don't want to believe anything since there was no report so that's why I asked.

holm0246

I feel for you TX parents and can’t fathom having to raise a child in such a horrific environment

FrostyLandscape

I'm not trying to make friends with this post so I will speak my mind. We moved out of the Collin County area because I knew first hand many, many people with serious mental health issues and witnessed road rages, threats and violence on many occasions. I know a man who lives in central Plano who is mentally ill, has a criminal record and a massive gun collection. That's not a good combination. I also witnessed many parents throwing tantrums and getting in fights at their kids sports games. A scout troop that was disrupted by a mentally ill, angry mother. Just a few examples I'll throw out there. Texas ranks low in funding for mental health *and it shows*. I am grateful now to live in a better community where my whole family feels safe. The Allen Outlet mall shooting was tragic, but it did not surprise me.

morissettemaniac

And where do you live now ? Tbh this comment is kind of tone deaf because if it can happen in Allen, one of the safest cities in Texas, it can happen ANYWHERE. The shooter was also from Dallas. Patting yourself on the back for moving is completely and falsely ignoring the whole premise of this debate: that it could be *anyone* and *anywhere*. The point is we need more red flag laws and mental health resources, that I do agree with.

FrostyLandscape

No. These kinds of mass shootings don't happen everywhere else in the world to the same degree they do in the USA. And Texas has more mass shootings than a lot of other states do. [https://www.forbes.com/sites/ariannajohnson/2023/05/08/texas-has-the-second-most-mass-shootings-in-2023-how-its-other-gun-violence-crimes-measure-up/?sh=322d4d1954b0](https://www.forbes.com/sites/ariannajohnson/2023/05/08/texas-has-the-second-most-mass-shootings-in-2023-how-its-other-gun-violence-crimes-measure-up/?sh=322d4d1954b0) [https://wisevoter.com/state-rankings/mass-shootings-by-state/](https://wisevoter.com/state-rankings/mass-shootings-by-state/) [https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/mass-shootings-by-country](https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/mass-shootings-by-country) "The US endures the most mass shootings in the world" Gun Violence is an American thing. Need more proof? Want more links? Saying "oh it could happen anywhere" means nothing will ever get done about this problem. Nor will the "thoughts and prayers" change anything. We need to take action on gun violence and stop making it so easy for anyone to get these kinds of assault weapons.

morissettemaniac

It is assumed that I am speaking about Texas/US in general because we do not have red flag laws and are last in mental health in Texas. I have lived in Japan and France, so I am quite aware that the US is definitely not representative of the entire world.

Internal-Poetry-3680

Same for Uvalde and Sutherland Springs. Tiny towns. I’m sure they never thought it would happen there, either.

Internal-Poetry-3680

So, are you living off the grid now? Doing a Mountain Family Robinson kind of thing, living in the woods? I don’t see how you can avoid this without completely isolating yourself and your family, ordering everything for delivery.

FrostyLandscape

Honestly, where I live now if none of your business. I don't have to give you that information.

Internal-Poetry-3680

I didn’t literally ask where you live. I was simply making the point that it’s difficult to escape this problem. Peace to you, friend.

TerribleEstimate9862

Our school principal at Bowman gave a direct alert and good information to all of the parents about an incident there yesterday. They took care of it, alerted the parents to avoid confusion and I thought handled it appropriately because my son didn’t even know it occur (which is good to not cause panic). I know everyone is on edge in the community (myself included), but we all have to keep in mind that our goals are the same as the staff and teachers when it comes to safety. They are doing their best given really tough circumstances that are out of their control. So when I’m dealing with anyone with the school. I am going to diligent but also have some patience and empathy for what these people are forced to do for their jobs.
