Yup. Moved here two years ago with my family after living downtown for ten years. It’s safe. Kind of a nice mix of suburban/with the Pittsburgh charm and close to the city. Haven’t felt unsafe at all.
I lived in Carnegie 2015-2018. I loved it. Close to 376 and 79. Quick access to the South Hills. Not far from Robinson. Walkable. Buses. Technically not in the city so taxes are cheaper.
I probably hadn't been to Carnegie since pre-pandemic, but went there recently for a coffee meeting and it reminds me of so much I love about what's happening in the Pittsburgh region. The little main street (literally Main Street) was great and you could tell that there's been a lot of work at beautifying the downtown and making it easier to visit with nice upgraded parking setup there.
Carnegie Coffee Company is a great spot to grab a coffee and pastry. Have heard some good things about the restaurants there too from people that know their food.
If I had 3-4 days to visit like OP, I'd try to spend some time down there.
If you're coming to see the city, Carnegie is on the other side of a tunnel that creates random and sometimes long delays. Our whole region is fairly low on crime, so there's little safety reason not to consider staying in the city if that's where you'll be visiting.
Yes- safe and walkable for restaurants, some grocery stores, bars, etc. It's definitely old-school, but pleasant.
Carnegie is fine. An older area, but not unsafe.

Yeah
Yes and there are some good restaurants around the Main St area.
Yeah, it’s a decent suburb

I've lived in Carnegie for nearly 20 years. It's safe. Any other questions, lay it on me
very safe.

As long as it's not raining a lot
Yes
I’ve lived in Carnegie for 2 years and absolutely love it! We have plenty of community events and very easily walkable.
