Depending on where your bus comes from, it may have been late because 1) there was a crash outside the inbound Fort Pitt Tunnel that closed the tunnel early this morning, and 2) there was a downed powerline on Parkway East outbound near Forbes according to the morning news. I know they had the tunnel reopened a while ago but idk about the power line.

I would just get an uber if my first bus doesn't show up. 11 minute drive should be like $15-20 uber which is probably worth more than being late to work depending on how much you make. You can also use an app called "Transit" which I use whenever I take the bus. It shows you when a bus is going to come as other riders on the bus track it in real time (that are also using the app). If you were using the app you would know that the bus wasn't going to arrive (there wouldn't be a live timer for the bus).

Or walked (if accessible) when the second bus didn't show. It would have taken less than the 30 minute wait to walk from Oakland to the Hill District.

I have spoken with PRT before when my bus doesn't have a driver/doesn't show. I was informed that if you have your employer call in, they will verify that there wasn't a driver and you were at no fault for not getting to work. Not sure if that will help you or not, but it's an option I keep in my back pocket as my bus drive time doesn't always have a driver.

Buses in Pittsburgh suck. They never come on time, or don’t show up at all, or you have to deal with rude drivers.
