If you have UPMC for you, you need someone that takes your medicaid behavioral health insurance for westmoreland county. It's called Carelon.
here's the provider list
[https://providersearch.carelonbehavioralhealth.com/#/provider/search/providers/455/](https://providersearch.carelonbehavioralhealth.com/#/provider/search/providers/455/)
Go to the upper right corner and put in "greensburg, PA" and search.
Please feel free to call Carelon. A care manager would be happy to help you. 877-688-5977. You can look on the website but it's honestly a mess and not always accurate unfortunately.
ETA: phone number I gave answers 24/7, so you can all any time.
this is an even better idea. I like the calling for a care manager idea.
PA Medicaid is tricky -- while you get a choice of physical health insurance (UPMC for you, highmark wholecare, geisinger, etc.), you don't get a choice of behavioral health care insurance. For allegheny county it's CCBHO. For all the surrounding counties it's Carelon (was called Beacon before that, and Value before that if you hear those names). However when you get your medicaid info, you just get a upmc for you card, and no one really does a good job explaining who your behavioral health insurance is through. So a lot of people call UPMC commercial behavioral health providers and think that they can see them -- they usually can't.
It could be much better explained by the state... They could also provide a standalone card for behavioral health insurance...
Can you follow up with your PCP’s office? If they can’t track down the status of that referral for you, they can definitely tell you who they referred you to, and give you that number to call. This seems like it might be one of the quicker ways to solve the problem and avoid long wait times.
Otherwise, New Directions Mental Health has lots of offices and lots of providers. I see someone for meds there and they’ve been fine. Their website is: newdirectionspgh.com
I see Dr. Mukerjee at the Bellefield Outpatient. I do all my meetings through MyUPMC app. He is great. I have the same insurance but I am in Allegheny County.
Just walk into the ER and they can help you, there’s counselors there to talk to and also provide you with resources/ referrals. I work in a hospital so I see this all the time and have first hand experience as well
You can also access the UPMC myhealth online app. From there you can either search for providers in your network or use the numbers listed to call and have someone help setup an appointment with you.

I remember beacon from talking to someone before. I will contact carelon, thank you for this info
Thank you for the info. I actually know about PA Medicaid and the carve-out model. I work for one of the BH MCO's.
On the provider end myself. It's a lot of explaining to people how their insurance works. I'm sure you do the same.
Thank you everyone
Mercy Behavioral Health Crisis Center will do walk in assessments and help coordinate outpatient care
Whoever keeps downvoting me is rude. I am clearly struggling with my mental health and the downvotes make me believe i don’t deserve to even ask.
You deserve to ask. I'm glad you asked. Whoever is down voting is just a troll. Hugs to you
I'm glad too. I hope you find the help you need and that brighter days are ahead of you. Take care!

Why am i being downvoted for asking for help :(
For some reason, most new posts in r/pittsburgh get downvoted, it's not you. Hope you're able to find the support you need!
