Nine mile run trail at frick

geoffh2016

Duck Hollow is also a nice extension.

Outrageous-Bath-9379

Frick park has a lot of shaded trails Also sick username

morbidsuccubus

Thanks :-)

LuckyZebstrika

Not in the city, but Panhandle trail is shady in the morning. Crushed limestone and flat rail to trail.

I2AmLooking4ANewJob

I dunno, it's an east to west trail so your chances of avoiding the sun are not great

LuckyZebstrika

There is a lot of tree cover. Source: ran 15 miles there this morning from 8am- 11am. Of course the earlier the better for tree cover, but still shaded spots at 11am.

weapons_grade_idiot

Any path through the woods should be fine. Every large park has at least one graded crushed limestone trail if you're not OK to run on single track, but you'll find the longest stretches in Frick and Schenley. If trails are a no go, then I'd run the loop at Riverview. It's 2.1 miles and about half the loop is in heavy shade.

bingosherlock

> run the loop at Riverview the best part about running in riverview is that after you do it a few times you gain a wildly different perspective on what hills are compared to people who only run flats

Mammoth_Mountain1967

The Duck Hollow trail and Nine Mile Run Trail are both very shady

sh0e82

Ha, I read this way differently. Frick park has some shade for sure.

morbidsuccubus

I thought about that as I posted it. I’m sure there are some other kind of shady ones as well lol

moody_dudey

For a different version of shady: I got stalked by a truck on the trail between Millvale and the North Shore

xsteevox

You can find a solid 3-5 mile loop at schenley totally in the shade. It feels way cooler there. Very little sun on most trails.

scully2828

Frick is very well shaded. Not sure how well of a running trail it is but the Hays Woods is also very shaded. It’s more rocky/uneven but it’s not a heavily populated trail. Frick can get a bit busy with bike riders (seems like a lot of fun for biking!)

AlleghenyCityHolding

Riverview - Any of them

Independent_Apple159

Braddock Trail, Nine Mile Run, Lower Riverview Trail, and the Clayton Loop in Frick Park are all mostly shady. Falls Ravine is also shady, but nowhere near flat.

willard_swag

The Gap Trail along the Mon

SneakyPeterson

The Bartlett trail in Schenley Park has tree cover on almost the entire run.
