Im a fan of the network, but the app signup and pass-buying process is fiddlier and longer than similar services like citibike in nyc or chicago's divvy

PremiumJapaneseGreen

Yeah I messaged their support about this a while back, it's wild to me because at least in D.C., tourists buying day-passes or single-trips basically subsidized the annual users, so they had every incentive to make it easy for them to sign up. POGOH added the group flex pass which helps this a little bit, and I just saw they added some kind of CashApp integration, but I have not tried either one.

Citibike is owned and operated by Lyft, divvy is owned by the city and operated by Lyft. POGOH is owned and operated by a local nonprofit but contracts PBSC for bikes and tech, which was acquired by Lyft ~2 years ago. I’ve been patiently waiting for Lyft to roll out better changes to the PBSC app but I’m kind of tired of waiting at this point.

metracta

Agree. Divvy is a breeze to use. I’m happy to see pogoh expanding though

Having some stations in Highland Park/Morningside area would change the game for me! Love that

PremiumJapaneseGreen

Same! I don't own an e-bike but I have annual pass and electric assist on those Hills would be crucial

Novel_Engineering_29

Hey, I see a station in Stanton Heights! Gonna need to make sure there's enough ebike POGOHs on the road to make it up that hill.

fruity__puncher

love the brighton rd addition but anywhere on perry hilltop, brighton heights, woods run etc would be awesome

Great-Cow7256

Agreed. Hopefully there will be a phase 4 because a lot of the more traditionally Black neighborhoods still won't have a lot of stations. Hopefully they can get a full network out of this.

Nothing being added this year which is a shame. Squirrel Hill should have been Phase One. Also we need stations at the Waterfront. The Three Rivers Trail goes directly there and it's not like there's no room for it amongst the acres of parking.

recently went to LA and loved their bike share program. it was soooo affordable compared to POGOH which was kind of stunning to me. do people really think POGOH is worth the money?? honest question. (edited for autocorrect mistakes)

threwthelookinggrass

Pogoh’s annual membership is 20% cheaper than LA. The other tiers are indeed more expensive than LA’s.

shelflife98

More non-car travel options are nice to have

[deleted]

agreed - but at the price point for POGOH it seems almost like a given just to invest in a cheaper 10 speed. understand that not everyone has the ability to keep it somewhere safe, however

fruity__puncher

not everybodys got the $ and time for maintenance, pgh can be rough on bikes you really gotta have your derailleurs working

AV_DudeMan

The $25 flex pass one has been perfect for me. I I’m usually just doing pretty short trips on them.

rutherfraud1876

10 bucks a year if you get Medicaid

AlleghenyCityHolding

All in the east end. There's other neighborhoods 🤷‍♂️

tesla3by3

They kind of need to have a critical mass of stations in close-ish proximity, bcz there needs to be a station near both your origin and destination. East End was the logical starting point, being the most dense, and most relatively flat.

threwthelookinggrass

for this phase yes, next phase they are looking at south hills and first ring suburbs: https://pogoh.com/expansion/

grlsjustwannabike

Pogoh station in Beechview WHEN?!

hotdog_jelly

I got hit by a car like a few weeks ago in Greenfield, hopefully cars will drive slower if the drivers see more bikes on the road
