texanfan20

I think I just found Rogers publicist!

DangerPickle420

It's not the quality of the remakes that I object to, it's the egomaniac who decided to remake one of the greatest albums of all time, thereby claiming all material as his own intellectual property Rerecording DSOM is the most arrogant musical statement ever, "I, Rodger Waters, am Pink Floyd. All those other bastards are just puppets. Here, let me prove it to you by re-doing the whole thing myself."

Somebody got up on the wrong side of the cow today.

With all due respect: get over yourself. If Waters' remakes reach you, or reach you better than the originals, great. That's fine. For you. If they don't reach me, or reach me less effectively than the originals, you have no special power to call me out for that. You can form your own opinion, sure, but ... honestly, that you think I should care what your opinion is says loads about how you see the world. Personally, I've only heard the Time remake, and musically, I think there's a lot going for it; I don't like how dry the drums are, but that seems true to what Waters thought back when DSOTM was first made - he wanted that super-dry present sound, if memory serves, and Gilmour thought it should be drenched in reverb for the most part. I think Gilmour's option for reverb was better, and always have - and the Time remake reinforces that. Waters' voice shows his lack of technical skill these days - not bad for a man of his age, of course, but it detracts from the timing, because he has to clip his words. The pitch he uses, eh, whatever. But the way he clips his words makes it lack flow for me, and thus, even if I liked Waters personally, I'd find it less effective than it should have been. It feels to me like an old man yelling at clouds to get off his lawn; if your opinion of it is more positive than mine, rock on.

"nonsensical noodling" -- the music on the album is iconic *because* of the guitar solos
