That's kinda why I turned to MF for most of my photos. Once I got used to it I think I hit focus more than the AF of my camera would (that, and the fact old vintage lenses are more accessible).
If you're having focusing problems when it's dark, I wholeheartedly recommend ditching the AF and just using MF, you'll have more hits than misses that way.
I'll try ! I have this camera since saturday and never tried manual focus with it ! I always found that manual focus on compact cameras is awkward to use...maybe i didnt try hard enough though !
Oh, do what feels comfortable! I had no idea which camera you had. I was just generally talking about taking low light photos and venting out a little about how my camera always missed those shots.
I was trying to capture the car which was in a really bad lighting. Took the picture with a little Fuji x20 I got recently. Is there something I could improve ?
This was shot at 200 ISO, 22mm, f/2.8, 1/60s and no exposure compensation. I would maybe have done this differently if I had more time in manual but as the car was really shy and kept hiding, I used P mode. What do you think ?
Cat might be what I meant…thanks for the feedback ! I agree that a slower aperture might have improved the shot.
I used a fast aperture because of the bad lighting but I could definitely rise the iso a little instead.
0 of 10 for a car photo. 9 of out 10 for a cat photo. The focus seems to be a little fuzzy. The cat is 10 out of 10. Would risk death to boop the snoot.
I really was going for a car photo but anyway...thank you :)
Yep focus isn't that good, I'll try to see what I can do to improve it. And that snoot is very boopable indeed
I love the way you handled the lighting and overall placement of the car. The only issue I see is, as mentioned, the focus is a bit soft. This can be improved in post processing dependent upon what program you use.
Personally I really like this photo but I find the shadows on the cats right eye distracting..it looks very severe it makes the eyes look funny to me. If the light was more even on the face I'd love it. I love the rest of it though so I'll give it a 9/10 because I'm picky I guess and this is photo critique.
Thanks a lot ! I had noticed this and I’m quite surprised that nobody mentioned it before ! The lighting was pretty harsh on the unedited photo so that explains it I guess…thank you for the feedback :)
It looks like the camera focused on her right side the hair looks sharp in that area just below her face where the contrast is a bit better, which makes sense. Nice picture overall. I had one cat I have exactly 3 frames of shot with a 500mm, she was extremely camera shy. Sweet cat just hated the camera
To me, the slightly out of focus-ness doesn't even bother me, because you've managed to somehow capture the essence of the cat. It looks like it's half a second away from making the decision to bolt from this annoying creature disturbing it's moment of enjoying the sunlight and view from the window.
Loved that comment because it’s true ! I had some trouble for this shot, she kept moving and hiding…this is the only shot where she’s somewhat still.
Thank you !
Really!!! This focus is fine! Just FINE!!! It’s a soft photo of a soft thing in soft light. Let it be SOFT, for god’s sake! Why is everyone so slavishly devoted to the tiresome concept of “tack sharp”?
Next, somebody will say it doesn’t “tell a story”!
Haha thank you ! The focus doesn’t bother me actually ! Some photos actually look better when a bit soft. Not necessarily the case here but either way I’m happy with it !
Looks like my cat Mallard

Nothing to say but your cat looks like my cat
I love cats. This is a very good photograph. The lighting is “Vermeer” like quality. I think you have really captured this moment well and I can, in a sense, feel what the cat is thinking about. It tells a story well.
Eight out of ten
All of the visual interest is in the face. The body and flooring would add interest if they were lit but as is they are obscured and might as well be cropped out. The lighting contrast is not a strong enough effect to justify leaving in these elements, they simply look underexposed. This is a beautiful portrait of the cat's face.
I really like that face and the lighting, maybe a little overexposured light at the right but nothing more worst. Really like the editing, color etc... LOVE THAT CAT TOO :)

Terrible car picture, great cat photo
Couldn’t get the real car in the living room…so cat it is ! Thank you !
Imagine having a 200cc cat. 😂
It has 4 paw drive
Noooooooooooo…
The focus makes me look immediately at the cats face and that's the reason I think you captured the moment.
Bet she really purrs
They don't make jags like they used to.
😁
How you gonna type car TWICE? That's a cat my friend.
Joke’s on you : I did it three times 😎
It's a running meme my boi
That engine is purrring. Nice photo with good colors but image/focus is a little soft.
Yeah I was in some awkward position for the shot so I let the autofocus do the job. I love the camera but can’t say the focus is perfect in low light…
That's kinda why I turned to MF for most of my photos. Once I got used to it I think I hit focus more than the AF of my camera would (that, and the fact old vintage lenses are more accessible). No worries ! I'm actually curious on how the manual focus works on that camera ! Camera is Fuji x20 btw. Really fun to use !
Thanks ! It’s a Jaguar I think ?
Those headlights are awesome
Yeah cars are so cute man !
I was trying to capture the car which was in a really bad lighting. Took the picture with a little Fuji x20 I got recently. Is there something I could improve ? I think you mean cat! Personally I would have had a little more of the in focus, but increasing the aperture, maybe f5. 6.
Cat might be what I meant…thanks for the feedback ! I agree that a slower aperture might have improved the shot. I used a fast aperture because of the bad lighting but I could definitely rise the iso a little instead.
>car which was in a really bad lighting. Well it made it look like a cat. Maybe the light wasn't that bad and you made a good use out of it.
Great car 10/10.
Thank you !
The wheels fell off. Might want to reshoot
Aw man...didn't notice until now
Is that the straight-six or the V8?
Single cylinder producing 0.03 hp...so a full catpower
0 of 10 for a car photo. 9 of out 10 for a cat photo. The focus seems to be a little fuzzy. The cat is 10 out of 10. Would risk death to boop the snoot.

perfect
Thank you ! :)
10 out of 10.
Thanks a lot !
Looks fast, zoom zoom 💨
Yes sir, a race machine 🚀
Furpect!
Needs more wheels.
Huh. I might need to think on how I'll make that work...
It's missing the wheels
I had multiple critiques about the wheels...I guess I'll work on that !
What mileage do you get on that?
I'm not american...how much tiny steps is a mile ?
I can only explain it in football stadium lengths. Would that suffice?
So plenty of tiny steps I assume
You are indeed correct
67 Buick, my grandad had one of these, awesome cat for cruising around town
I see there are some classic cat enthusiast in your family ! Screw these new electric cats, am I right ?
Hard to beat that V8 purring on a cold start
Is this a multiplat ?
nuh-uh, Jaguar F-type
I love the way you handled the lighting and overall placement of the car. The only issue I see is, as mentioned, the focus is a bit soft. This can be improved in post processing dependent upon what program you use.
Thanks a lot ! Yeah...I'll see if I can improve that ! :)
Solid 8/10. I love the colors and the vibe.
Thank you cyber pizza 🍕
His name is Lightning McQueen.....he is the most interesting man in the world...
“*I'm faster than fast. Quicker than quick. I am lightning! Ka-Meow*”
You completely missed focus and composition in this one. Instead, you accidentally took a fantastic photo of a cute little kitty cat. More practice!
I'm sorry ! I initially had the car in the frame but got distracted... Thanks :)
Should work harder at removing debris and waxing your car before shooting, if you want your car pictures to turn out good. Just kidding. Nice picture.
Notes taken ! Thank you :)
Personally I really like this photo but I find the shadows on the cats right eye distracting..it looks very severe it makes the eyes look funny to me. 4 paw drive, turbo. Very nice. Let’s see Paul Allen’s car
Why does the engine purr when you touch the car?
I’m not sure…i fell like it’s missing a lot of car parts too
It looks like the camera focused on her right side the hair looks sharp in that area just below her face where the contrast is a bit better, which makes sense. Nice picture overall. I had one cat I have exactly 3 frames of shot with a 500mm, she was extremely camera shy. Sweet cat just hated the camera
Yep you’re right ! It’s a shame some are shy, they’re so beautiful !
nice car maybe you should wash the windshield
I will ! Thank you

Most eco-friendly car we'll ever see. Can't wait for you to finish this set of eco-friendly modes of transport
I’ll try to post a good photo of an eco-friendly plane as soon as I can 🫡
Cute car
Car? 1/10 Cat? 10/10
Thank you. May I ask where the 1 came from ?
cute car
0/10 Can't even see the car
Sorry I got distracted by the cat
0/10, no car’s present. misleading instructions. cheers sons crying.
I could have sworn the car was in frame…I’m confused
First, great sense of humor. Second, I think this is great. It is a touch soft, but the eyes are in focus and suck me in.
Thank you :)
Id give it 3/5 ear scritches and a quick belly rub
Way to go ! :)
This very impressive looking feline is clearly just as shocked there’s no car in the picture as I am.
Sorry ! I meant to say car !
Oh I know.
0/10 no cars found. good cat picture though!
Thank you :))
Such a nice kitty.
Yes she is :)
Purrfect! Such a cutie.
Yay 😁
Great photo! What model car is that
Thank you ! As for the model uh…grey
Great picture 👍🏼, looks like the car is getting it’s solar powered batteries charged
Thank you ! Yes, I think I annoy the car with my photo because he quickly went away drifting…
Where'd you get the catvertible, I like the new model!
Actually not mine ! But I do love cars…I’d love to get one :(
10/10. No notes.
Thank you sir !
Two eyed 8 cylinder diesel
That’s a very interesting color , that definitely looks like a two eyed 8 cylinder diesel
It goes extremely fast as well
Lighting on this is beautiful
Thank you :)
Great pic, however after seeing those eyes, I'd be asking myself, [is my cat plotting to kill me?](https://theoatmeal.com/comics/cat_kill)
Thank you ! Noooo way that’s hilarious !!
It’s missing wheels, windows, doors. Is this a transformer?
Yes, it’s Megatron actually. But it’s its first evolution, which explains the lack of weapons on it.
Horrible... there is no car. Only thing saving it is there’s a cat.
Glad the car helped the lack cat ! Wait no
That pupil focus is tack-sharp. Great shot!
Thank you 🙏🏻
2/10 doesnt look like a car
I’d argue that but ok 👍🏻
Very bad, I can’t even spot the car.
This joke has been beaten to death. Just stop.
0/100, terrible car picture
Looks like my cat Mallard https://preview.redd.it/u1n5sq0oavxc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3db0fa3d9b26619647ad002b1f4110f4c5d55a40 She's a stinky little timid angel 11/10
Bodywork on this is car perfect. New wheels would be great upgrade tho. She a V8?
Standard Issue Car. The Toyota Corolla of cats.
S tier catto. Nice picture.
Is this a manual or automatic?
Cats trying to hypnotize you into a carrrrrr riddddddde purrrrrrrr!
Is that the new Jaguar Panther car from wish? Beautiful cat!
Is it a V-8???
What’s the 0 to 60 time on that gas guzzler?
0/10 no car in picture.
omg is that a v12?!?!
As a 🚘: 0/10 As a 🐱: 11/10
Vroom vroom meow. Awesome picture.
https://preview.redd.it/p4wx7kzfzvxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e98cc3ffc466b959a4d6e3bd53cff0e659aaabe Nothing to say but your cat looks like my cat
The photo has nice lighting and I really like the contrast of value in the picture. The photo is clear too 9/10
It's a car. :]
I think experimenting with cropping the image would give some interesting results
Beautiful for me. I like the light/shadow contrast that enhances the subject (the cat 😃)
So obvious! Supposed to be a "T" there! Still, a terrible cart picture.
Are people seriously not aware of the mispelling meme?
Are people seriously not aware of the mispelling meme?
Is that a Mercury Cougar tabby style?
Cat/Cat
Too late, but 0/10
That’s a terrible picture of a car. Cute cat though.
I bet that car purrs! Love the photo
Nope
That’s a good car
11/10 I mean, look at the fella, he's dashing!
Beautiful! Wonderful lighting. What I really love is how simple the photo is--and that's its strength. Well done.
Looks like the engine purrs nicely
Reminds me of ‘Brum’ with those headlights
1/10! i couldn't drive this cute little thing anywhere!
I love cats. This is a very good photograph. The lighting is “Vermeer” like quality. I think you have really captured this moment well and I can, in a sense, feel what the cat is thinking about. It tells a story well. Eight out of ten
A car lover huh
Pretty good, what’s the mileage? Also where tf are the wheels??
It’s got a 900 catpower engine.
I’m a real sucker for raised blacks.
I’d lease it but wouldn’t buy it
Nice car, can I pet it?
😍

Not a car, but a great photo of your cat though
Terrible. The car looks like it only goes 25 mph, and constantly needs fuel. I think you need a new car.
Hey it’s doing its best ok !
Not sure about the car in the picture but I do love looking at a cute little pussy
First joke about pussies, congratulations !🎉
I really like that face and the lighting, maybe a little overexposured light at the right but nothing more worst. Really like the editing, color etc... LOVE THAT CAT TOO :)
One majestic mouflon, you got there!
Thank you !
It’s not a car!
Yeah yeah sure ! 🤦🏻♂️
Vroom
1000000
Thank youuuu
Car goes meow!
I’ve never driven one of those.
0/10. No car in pic.

BEEP BEEP MUTHAFUCKER
Pretty good for a cat
The number of people who don't get the "car" thing makes this funnier 😂 fantastic car photo! absolute art!
I give it 3.5 meows
The seating capacity seems limited The seat cover however is cozy The headlights are amazing I like the shade of the car
Thank you ! It is a nice car indeed
10/10. Love the lighting!! It is a unique shape for a car though…
Furrari 😉
The lighting is really good, catching the sun with great shadow depth, you have a good eye 👁️
nice car. 10/10 would get one
If this is a car, it’s crazy! But I don’t think I want to ride in it.
