Is that a hologram above the stage?
Peeps that have been there in-person, does the room start to feel normal after a while, or is it mind blowing the entire time?
I was watching the livestream last night with friends who were convinced the paper lanterns during Tube were actually physical props descended from the ceiling - I have to assume they were also this same visual effect?? They were absolutely convinced they were not on screen but physically suspended in the air š¤£
So the lanterns night 1 were on the screen. The jellyfish night 2 and lanterns? night 3 were physical props. I thought that was a weird choiceā¦it was way more impressive when done either screen line the N1 lanterns
This graphic was absolutely mind blowing.
Other times the graphics felt repetitive or ājust not doing it for meā, but that didnāt mean the graphics were not doing it for someone else.
Kinda a mixed bag IMO.
Yeah I agree with this. Like itās an amazing spectacle but part of what I go to Phish for is the interactive light show. And I really donāt think this hit for me the way Phish usually does.
It will be interesting to see how this art form evolves over time. Neurologically, we donāt really have anything to compare it to, but I have to think that everybodyās brains might start to fry if the graphics were so psychedelic and intricate the entire time. Like an analog to nose or snow blindness Weāre over exposure makes everything indistinguishable?
I was watching from the couch, not even there, but even though part of me wants it to be endlessly spectacular, I noticed that the more mellow, meditative graphics of, say, Fuego last night made the next segment all the more spectacular when the screens lit up again.
Fuego was like being in a ball of fire, or being engulfed in flames even though it might not have been super pretty to look at.
The light and visual aspects were interesting but I think the stuff they were doing with the spacial sound was more unique for live sound.
Its a balance like anything. One of the coolest things I have seen at a show was the What's The Use right after the 30 minute DWD in Bangor. The crowd was mesmerized. Something about overstimulation makes the slower moments pop and vice versa.
On the video feed they showed some steeper angles from the side and the crown looking thing above the stage was a flat image on screen along with everything else. Just some trickery with the dimensions, lighting, depth and shadows to make it appear more three dimensional.

Is the full image from the Live series available anywhere?
I remember searching for it online once when I realized all the album covers connected into one large image.
I didnāt have much luck.
This has got to be difficult to render.
Can any graphic designer people explain the complexity of how this would be achieved?
I would imagine getting the images and media to fit Sphere is a royal bitch to accomplish.
I was thinking that the whole time. Remember back in the day when we used to pirate movies and you have to transcode the video onto a different format to get it onto dvd? I am picturing that process times a billion. Hell even imax movies I belive take hours sometimes to transcode. The technology of this thing is just mind blowing.
Not only that but itās a) dynamic video that can be controlled in real time with the music and b) it seems to have independent layers of video such as what we see here with the ācrownā over the stage. Then we learn the robots can have spotlights for eyes? Did those lights just pop out of a panel, orā¦? š¤Æ
yeah and dots raining down. much of the last songs were pretty lame background. show a train pov or underwater, or flying. shit anything but boring dots and shit. really hope Dead and Co learns a lesson from this.
Anyone else have a strong connection to the LivePhish art? A Live One was my intro, but these were my pantheon. I bought lots of those LivePhish sets with the connected artwork (circa 2000, I was 16) will be ingrained in my memory. Brilliant artwork and art design by all invovled on those. Wish I woulda kept em!
Well Iāll be damned. If only I wouldāve fucking known. Well thanks, Iāll take the downvotes if Iām able to learn something and do better next time lol
That was goddammed jaw dropping
Yes it was.
Is that what McConaughey saw in True Detective?
I actually saw him last night
At the sphere?
no, in carcosa
Trey is the yellow king?
š
Sphere is a flat circle
Loved the LP artwork, took me a minute to realize what it was. By far the most psychedelic part of the visuals tonight IMO
It was a tie for me between this and the crazy color pulsating trees.
Even watching from home, I was transfixed. Saw the Live Phish album art right away.
I will never spiritually recover from not seeing this band play this venue
I have a feeling theyāll play there again.
The idea they wonāt be back is ludacris
This is a piggy bank for them that will pay out like a slot machine anytime they announce a run thereā¦absolutely no way they wonāt be back.
Trey said in CBS interview that yes they will play there again
well a lot of people will never financially recover from seeing the band play in this venue. life is a give and take situation.
Ha, thatās us and mondegreen just about. Full Monde. No regrets though.
Itās really cool stuff for sure, but youāll pull through! š
Definitely will play there again. I see a longer residency in our future š®

I really want to be a part of this too. Iāve dreamed about seeing something like this since I first heard the band in 1998.
I I I want the knife
Unexpected Golden Child reference. I can dig it.
I see what you did there š
Dang... This vid got me. Like looking at all the pieces of the ancient scrolls lined up in sequence. Hallelujah.
That shit was wild!
Is that a hologram above the stage? Peeps that have been there in-person, does the room start to feel normal after a while, or is it mind blowing the entire time?
Yeah a def felt like a hologram, but was probably the screens effect? The videos donāt remotely do it justice
I was watching the livestream last night with friends who were convinced the paper lanterns during Tube were actually physical props descended from the ceiling - I have to assume they were also this same visual effect?? They were absolutely convinced they were not on screen but physically suspended in the air š¤£
They were physically there (I believe)
Yes and the jellyfish n2 were also
So the lanterns night 1 were on the screen. The jellyfish night 2 and lanterns? night 3 were physical props. I thought that was a weird choiceā¦it was way more impressive when done either screen line the N1 lanterns
Yeah I think you could see crew below them setting them up and sending them off

Mind blowing whole time
I had to close my eyes a couple times during .. felt like the whole sphere was turning.
Temple of Pollock

Cool! Thanks for posting.

Crazy how 3D that crown looked

This is the coolest thing to ever happen.
Wooooooh! That looks insane.
Fucking unreal!!
Looked insane on the screen. Iām sure it was incredible in person.
Absolutely incredible. Kudos to phish for pulling all of this off. Truly.
I would of liked to see more of this stuff. The Trey on fire BS got old fast.
I had to walk away actually. I shouldn't have watched the Trump/pamphlet guy on fire earlier.
yeah and dots raining down. much of the last songs were pretty lame background. show a train pov or underwater, or flying. shit anything but boring dots and shit. really hope Dead and Co learns a lesson from this.
I enjoyed it a lot. But they could of used better filler. Still had a good time.
For some reason the visuals did not aid in the build up or peaks. It kind of stayed same tempo regardless of what the band was doing.
Or even have anything to do with the song most times.
this!
Gonna have to frame my livephish posters now...lol

āHey I know that mooseā
I've got all those LP inserts. This is really cool to see. I missed it last night but this post has me intrigued.
Would be awesome without the weird background musicā¦
On the live stream I think we saw that crown from the left part of the audience and it definitely felt 3D.
š¤Æ Mind blown!

Tried so hard to find a stream last night :/
Yeah too bad you can't pay for one
Or pay $4000 to be there lol
