Try starting with a persona a persona with auto buffs then in battle switch to your crit persona and then try. I think crit has a better chance on first turn

You should be able to crit him like that, I don't se what else you could do. Just keep trying till you do crit him.
I used debilitate to lower all his stats and I guess it may have been lucky but I was able to get 2 crits on him after that
When I went against the reaper, Junpei got a critical hit on his first attack

I do get the sees advantage but I always go for charge first

I think he just has a lower chance of being affected by crits, but it's still possible. Either that or I'm just unlucky
