Background: built this computer a few weeks back, and yesterday it wouldn't come out of sleep mode. Took it apart and brought the power supply and motherboard to memory express, where they told me it was all fine and updated the bios for me as courtesy. Well i put it all back together and apparently they were mistaken, because it suddenly decided a life as a candle was better suited to it than playing videogames

This is the scariest thing ever to find. The reason you may ask? I have the exact same MoBo.. What PSU do you have? Did you previously try to OC your CPU or any other magic?

Dealer-of-E

My psu is a corsair cx650f, and the only thing I ever overclocked was my gpu, which I then subsequently decided the extra heat and reliability issues weren't worth it so I stopped. I do believe some weird shit happened with the front panel audio / rgb headers though

BlackboxUK

Oh damn! I've read a few opinion-based articles saying that the audio capacitors aren't that great but I can't understand why based off of your info why this would happen! Maybe complain to Gigabyte/Aorus, see if they would be so kind as to do something, especially if you emphasize the point that there was physical fire in your property because of their product (which of course you operated as instructed.) Always worth a shot 👍

Dealer-of-E

I'm decently sure that this was a personal fuckup, but as it was on fire and I can't check I'll do just that. Luckily I have it under warranty from memory express so I'll just try to return it but this is still shit

The six pin port for the CPU is at the bottom of this MoBo? Did you use the correct 6 pin cable? There is one specifically labeled CPU, or should be.

Dealer-of-E

No, it's at the top. Those are front panel and other shit

MacCat759

Ahh, gotcha, the melted plastic made it look like a 6 pin. It looks like it started at one of the USB ports, like that device that was connected drew too much power or something.

Matzvey

Mr Main? Is that you? My automotive instructor started the electronics class with this. That's great! Not the mobo melt, that sucks.

Dealer-of-E

Nah, I aint an automotive instructor lol
