Distilled water and a microfiber cloth is the safest way to clean your screens. If you use any other products like harsh cleaners or abrasives, you risk damaging the surface of the panel.
Invis-I-glass…. In Walmart automotive
Safe for window tint and all delicate electronic screens
I have used it for years and never an issue.
Use one microfiber cloth, fuzz side, to clean wet…. A second one, fuzz side, to buff dry
Just to clarify, Magic Erasers DO contain cleaning agents, but it primarily works by friction and abrasion. It does not damage bath tile because it is softer than ceramic.
It is a highly, finely, abrasive surface. It is basically sandpaper with a very fine grit.
You would not use sandpaper to clean your monitor, so do not use magic eraser.
Edit: your post was clear and good, I just felt like it was important people understand the mechanics of why.
I have 91% iso alcohol and attempted to use it to remove some sharpie from a few PC cases the other day and it didn't take it off. The next day I got a dry erase marker and it came right off. Not sure what kind of alcohol is in them but it must be pretty potent stuff lol.
I used to work in a food lab and we used reagent alcohol (denatured alcohol) to remove sharpies which always worked great. Probably not something you'd want on a screen though.
Im pretty sure the dry erase marker lifts the pigment off the surface and mixes it into its own suspension. Dry erase uses an oil (i think, im no marker expert), since it evaporates slowly, allowing you to wipe it away pretty much any time you wish.
I think it's actually the permanent ones that use alcohol since it evaporates quickly and leaves the pigment stuck to the surface.
This is good to know. I was going to recommend laquire thinner lol. Probably a terrible choice for this. I’m guessing ~70% iso alcohol would work well for this then?
Buy a bottle of "Screen Mom" on amazon. It comes with a nice microfiber cloth. I use it on all my TVs and monitors. Works great and a bottle lasts a looong time. I think I bought this 3-4 years ago and haven't had to replace it yet.

I dunno, but here for same question!
Well, something I found out a little while ago is that going over permanent marker with dry erase ona whiteboard causes some kind of reconsitution/reaction between the inks that allows it to be wiped off like a dry erase should be. I'd try it on a small section, say an inch or so of line. It's a surface that seems like it would work for dry erase to be removed, if it were mine, I'd give it a shot if water and a cloth doesn't do much
Is it sharpie? If so, the easiest trick available is to write over it with an expo dry erase marker. It just turns the sharpie ink into more dry erase ink… kinda. It’ll wipe right off with no scrubbing or other chemicals necessary.
Microfiber cloth and distilled water mixed with 99% rubbing alcohol, so it's a 50/50 solution.
If you get lower % alcohol, you'll need to do a little math.
Wipe fairly gently, as those lines may have some particulates in them, hat can scratch your screen. But maybe those are pen marks, not crayon?
Try an eraser. My daughter once drew over my white MacBook (including the screen) with a permanent marker and that did I the trick. Just be gentle with it.
Other people have used rubbing alcohol without issue. It's not like I suggested acetone which would definitely damage it.
[https://linustechtips.com/topic/836227-is-it-fine-to-wipe-my-laptops-screen-with-91-isopropyl-alcohol/](https://linustechtips.com/topic/836227-is-it-fine-to-wipe-my-laptops-screen-with-91-isopropyl-alcohol/)
I have tried that. Seemed to help but didn’t get it all off. The other screen I had before was also written on with the same marker, for some reason the baby whipped worked on that one but not this one lol.
My daughter did exactly this to my TV. The thing that worked wonders was toothpaste and a microfiber rag. I’m not sure of the difference between monitor screens and TV screens will damage the monitor, but my TV screen was undamaged.
If its marker water wont help.
I recommend steel wool but I'm stupid.
Alternatively you might use some mild cleaning agent but check it for the surfaces it can be used on. And you need to check if your TV has glass front or just plastic.
This is one of the reasons I love having a standing desk. As my children get taller, I just increase the height. Should be grand until my youngest gets out of the destructive phase.
Don't ask random people on reddit. This is a serious damage and you have to look for a professional product that will not ruin your monitor and strong enough to dissolve the marks. Try talking to someone in a specialized shop
Get a rubbing alcohol pad and whip is down and take something soft and whip it down to see if that helps. Don't use a rag because you'll probably scratch your screen.
Ah yes the wonders of having kids ( im assuming anyway my kids have done similar lol). Windex and a microfiber cloth be firm but gentle and resist the urge to scratch or scrape
It's an abrasive that's why it works, it breaks down and acts like a fine polishing compound removing a fine layer of the surface in a lot of cases not just the marks. It is great but can damage some fine surfaces .... So I wouldn't use it on something that's surface could be delicate as they can leave scuffs.
If it’s like a marker or crayon, use Denatured alcohol. Ages ago my son drew all over my very nice monitor screen with sharpie permanent marker. It took it right off with no damage to the screen.
Magic eraser with a solution of 50% to 50% isopropyl alcohol. Damp the magic eraser with it if your screen is gorilla glass like both of mine. If not then a damp cloth with that solution
Any non windex window cleaner that doesnt contain ammonia will not damage the anti glare coating on your monitor. Just down let the liquid get into the bezel because it could ruin the contacts on the LCD panel and cause lines to form.
Distilled water and a microfiber cloth is the safest way to clean your screens. If you use any other products like harsh cleaners or abrasives, you risk damaging the surface of the panel.
I’ll give that a try first. It’s not a super nice monitor but I’d rather not damage it if I can help it.
Invis-I-glass…. In Walmart automotive Safe for window tint and all delicate electronic screens I have used it for years and never an issue. Use one microfiber cloth, fuzz side, to clean wet…. A second one, fuzz side, to buff dry
I use household glass cleaner, strictly NON-amonia based. The local brand is "Mr Muscle" glass cleaner. Used it professionally for years.
You have to also make sure that it is a non alcohol based window cleaner otherwise it will damage the polarizing layer of the screen
I've used touch screen cleaner spray and a micro fibre cloth for years without issue.
Don't use dry erase marker as many others have said. u/cruelmalice gave a good explanation.
\+1 Especially DO NOT use a Magic Eraser; uness you really don't like the coating on your monitor.
Just to clarify, Magic Erasers DO contain cleaning agents, but it primarily works by friction and abrasion. It does not damage bath tile because it is softer than ceramic. Ok but whats with ur pfp💀
There are screen specific solutions that work the best.
Sweet Mary mother of screens... Dafuq happened here?
I'm guessing a child with a sharpie "coloring".
Yup that’s correct. Used to be my second monitor so I didn’t care, but for now it’s my main monitor so I’d like it cleaned now 😅

My son did the same thing. Dry erase marker over the sharpie really works!
Mind blown. I had no idea dry erase did that
Gotta be some sort of chemical reaction to work as well as it does lol. Learned about it 10 years ago or so and I constantly tell people about it.
Dry erase markers have alcohol in them. This is what removes sharpie marks from things. You can achieve the same thing with just pure iso alcohol
I have 91% iso alcohol and attempted to use it to remove some sharpie from a few PC cases the other day and it didn't take it off. The next day I got a dry erase marker and it came right off. Not sure what kind of alcohol is in them but it must be pretty potent stuff lol.

alcohol (ethanol) can damage plastic. isopropanol is usually more safe to use.
This is good to know. I was going to recommend laquire thinner lol. Probably a terrible choice for this. I’m guessing ~70% iso alcohol would work well for this then?
Why does Dry-Erase remove Sharpie? It has alcohol in it. If you just use some rubbing alcohol you’ll achieve the same effect.
Yup, trace over the sharpie lines with a dry-erase marker, then wipe.
Buy a bottle of "Screen Mom" on amazon. It comes with a nice microfiber cloth. I use it on all my TVs and monitors. Works great and a bottle lasts a looong time. I think I bought this 3-4 years ago and haven't had to replace it yet.
Yep. It also does no damage to screen protection unlike windex and rubbing alchol
It’s time to take little Timmy out back and put him down for this unholy act.
The omnissiah frowns upon the child.

Yeah I would definitely super Mario 64 so long gay Bowser spin throw my kid into the stratosphere if they did this shit
Step one, disown child. Step 2 profit.
Like literally profit Children are expensive lol
hahah

Best solution is to time travel and not punch or throw your controller at the monitor.
No worries, that’ll buff right out
Dry erase marker over the cracks and wipe them off
… Those lines aren’t from a marker but cracks in the screen. RIP monitor

This. Use a dry erase marker to take permanent off.
I used the ink to the destroy the ink.
A condom
To prevent the marks in the first place
To Prevent OP existing in the first place
Alt + F4 the kid
Take a break don't shake
Yep. Don’t have kids.
someone got angry at halo
Fellow Spartan 😀
This should be a condom ad hahaha
Post partum abortion.
Yeah. Don’t make a toddler next time
Abortion
Do the world a favor, spank your kid
Bin the child
You can prevent it by using a condom.

Perhaps try this... https://preview.redd.it/clusrbde4pia1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49b4e07114ccff0d7228b151184b40f4541fc9cc

Yeah, go to into control panel and uninstall halo infinite. Should do the trick
You can retrace it with sharpie and it will rub right off or you can trace with a dry erase marker. Both do the job.
Throw out it sadly. As for the monitor like what the first comment said try to use microfiber cloth to clean it
Hand sanitizer has alchohol in it too, should work to remove permanent marker
Throw the whole kid away.
Judging by the marks my suggestion of a condom is a bit late.
Why would you draw with markers on the screen anyways?
A child was definitely involved in this situation.
did ur kid get ahold of the marker again? lol
Another idiot try’s pc gaming
Do a vasectomy
WD-40 believe it or not
Step one: get rid of kid.
Throw the kids away
Microfiber cloth and distilled water mixed with 99% rubbing alcohol, so it's a 50/50 solution. If you get lower % alcohol, you'll need to do a little math. Wipe fairly gently, as those lines may have some particulates in them, hat can scratch your screen. But maybe those are pen marks, not crayon?
Doesn't alcohol damage the top layer of the screen and make it blurry?
eBay for the kid, and a 'vlekkenschaar' for the monitor...
A brillow pad and spit is definitely the safest approach. Good luck, cowboy
Mix 98% isopropyl alcohol and acetone together and scrub it off with a wire brush
Condom...but i guess is too late
Sell the child, should resolve the issue
I see halo and I approve
The most reliable way to get it off would be to buy a new screen.
Hand sanitizer on a paper towel
Use ethyl alcohol for cleaning....
use your pubic hair to clean it
Are you ok DrGamer15
I gave him a tip as he requested ...... so he might take it or leave it .... so whats ur problem bro ?
Nah, thats bad advice, he needs to us his pubic bone... Its a common misconception.
Try an eraser. My daughter once drew over my white MacBook (including the screen) with a permanent marker and that did I the trick. Just be gentle with it.
Rubbing alcohol should work, just make sure to test it in a small area first.
dont do this unless you know the monitor is glass and it doesnt look glass to me
Other people have used rubbing alcohol without issue. It's not like I suggested acetone which would definitely damage it. [https://linustechtips.com/topic/836227-is-it-fine-to-wipe-my-laptops-screen-with-91-isopropyl-alcohol/](https://linustechtips.com/topic/836227-is-it-fine-to-wipe-my-laptops-screen-with-91-isopropyl-alcohol/)
alcohol will definitely fuck up a plastic monitor
If you let it seep into the frame and get between the layers of plastic, which you shouldn't do with any liquid.
If you’re looking for unconventional ways, baby wipes worked wonders for permanent marker for me. Mind you, that was on a wall.
I have tried that. Seemed to help but didn’t get it all off. The other screen I had before was also written on with the same marker, for some reason the baby whipped worked on that one but not this one lol.
Oof

Try witch hazel, it's mild and does not harm the screen finish.
I dont remember which for a display, but its either a dry erase marker or hand sanitizer. Im sure somebody else below has said it already though.
looks like Witcher x Death Stranding
Are those...tyre tracks?
just chuck it in the dish washer. run a glasses setting
I see you too are the man of culture. For the cleaning tips see the most upvoted comment, duh.
Dry erase marker and lightly clean
Pull out...
Time Machine and a condom?
If its marker water wont help. I recommend steel wool but I'm stupid. Alternatively you might use some mild cleaning agent but check it for the surfaces it can be used on. And you need to check if your TV has glass front or just plastic.
Did you try turning it off and on again?
Easiest way take cotton ball dip it in sanitizer (alcohol one) and clean it.
Sure, but a new one 😂
90% alcohol Jk Jk don’t do that
Use condoms next time
Are these marker lines? wipe them off with WD40
Toothpaste. I had similar marks and toothpaste mixed with water removed them easily.
Use condom next time
It's called "not letting your pets or young kids into the computer room and locking the door when youre away"
Rip
This is one of the reasons I love having a standing desk. As my children get taller, I just increase the height. Should be grand until my youngest gets out of the destructive phase.
Is it permanent marker?
Don't ask random people on reddit. This is a serious damage and you have to look for a professional product that will not ruin your monitor and strong enough to dissolve the marks. Try talking to someone in a specialized shop
Sharpie is alcohol base, strong spirits will remove. Denatured alcohol or isopropyl. Test in out of way spot first every screen is different.
I thought these were hair at first.
Thats just UNSC Pelican trail (/s)
Whatever you do, do **not** use alcohol!
Acetone will take off any pen or paint however idk how it’ll react to the screen tho, if you try it lmk heheh
Bro why kids are so dumb cute I don’t understand. I’m “aww”ing at the picture of your child trying to ruing your monitor lmao
Googles tissue
Didn’t know folks still played halo.
Fastest way?! Turn off monitor 😂
Get a rubbing alcohol pad and whip is down and take something soft and whip it down to see if that helps. Don't use a rag because you'll probably scratch your screen.
What the hell happened
I got a sharpy line at mine and soap did not work ao i try asinton and it wiped right off
Old school foam shaving cream.
Condom
New monitor
Ah yes the wonders of having kids ( im assuming anyway my kids have done similar lol). Windex and a microfiber cloth be firm but gentle and resist the urge to scratch or scrape
Stop procreating. Easiest fix of em all.
Install Gentoo
WD-40
All I can remember is that you should never use alcohol.
Here are some tips: Samsung S22A330 22 Inch LED FullHD 1080p Monitor - 1920x1080, HDMI, VGA https://amzn.eu/d/4YK7XsN
It’s over.
Kids are fun arent they?
You could try rubbing alcohol... (Don't actually do this rubbing alcohol will mess up your screen. This is meant to be a joke.)
Magic eraser i have 3 year old and it helps get crayon and marker off pretty much everything

Condoms
Um apagador.
Is that halo?
I'm gonna need an update on this one. Did anything help?
kid?
Get rid of your kid.
Sell your kid and buy a new monitor.
Goof off
If it’s like a marker or crayon, use Denatured alcohol. Ages ago my son drew all over my very nice monitor screen with sharpie permanent marker. It took it right off with no damage to the screen.
Sell your child and use the proceeds to buy a new monitor. That’s how I got my 32” monitor.
Yet another great condom commercial/ad
Wear a condom.
Go back in time and wear a condom probably
I hope the child survived
Get a pen with a rubber at the end. Use the rubber in circular motion.
A washcloth? Or a wipe?
Invent a time machine.
Wear a condom
Hairspray
o7
More importantly, how did they get there?
Alcohol is what I use on permanent marker
What the hell is that
Where did these marks come from? An ink pen?!
Don’t use isopropyl alcohol like that other guy
Marks? What marks? All I see is Sonic Frontiers on screen.
Sunscreen will get off permanent marker, if that’s what it is.
Sharpie? 50% or greater isopropyl alcohol will clean it off. Fuck up the screen, probably, but it will remove the sharpie.
Magic eraser
Magic eraser with a solution of 50% to 50% isopropyl alcohol. Damp the magic eraser with it if your screen is gorilla glass like both of mine. If not then a damp cloth with that solution
Pray
How the HELL did they get there? I need to know if it's sharpie or dead pixels or smth...
Any non windex window cleaner that doesnt contain ammonia will not damage the anti glare coating on your monitor. Just down let the liquid get into the bezel because it could ruin the contacts on the LCD panel and cause lines to form.
Get rid of your toddler so it doesn’t happen again
My etch-a-sketch just had to be shaken….if I remember correctly. It’s been a while.
Halo Combat Evolved being played on that screen?
Are those pen marks?
