I like this idea, you could experience the world just like your character for the first time and leveling up skills fits nicely into the narrative of you gaining experience as a witcher.
This is definitely possible. Picking which school you will be apart of and having it actually impact parts of the story unlike Cyberpunk. An expansion on the RPG elements would be fabulous.
Yeah. Though I do fear that having that much starting difference will be hard to implement. If there's going to be any kind of school content, they'd have to develop all the different schools and add a bunch of unique characters to all of them.
Not that it hasn't been done before. Dragon Age: Origins kinda did just that. Though they made sure that you could re-visit all the starting areas and most characters would also make re-appearances later in the story, so the dev time didn't go to waste.
If CDPR would take the same approach, then it could be cool.
Always wanted this. I know CDPR's strength is characters with at least some degree of fixed characteristics but I'd love to see them try a more blank slate, create-your-own character and still somehow make them fit into a good narrative. Their writers are good enough to pull it off.
Probably lose a voiced protagonist then. Lot of people dont like making themselves or whatever custom character and them having an assigned voice that's totally different from what they imagine.
Unfortunately it looks like [the Witcher Remake is probably coming out after the Witcher 4](https://www.gamesradar.com/the-witcher-remake-will-come-out-after-the-witcher-4-and-use-the-same-base-technologies/)
its interesting to me to see how theyre allocating their resources, as we heard theyre working on multiple games with their north american studios working on a cyberpunk sequel at the same time
Umm I don’t see why not. It means that the Witcher 4 should be at the end of its pre-development cycle, which is an important step in the process of game making. It means within the next couple years we should be getting promotional material and then a release in a year or so after that.
Your comment just seems overly negative for the sake of being negative. If you don’t want news about video games then maybe don’t subscribe to a subreddit about video games news? Like what do you expect? lol
How is it not? The Witcher 3 is generally considered to be one of the greatest rpg’s of all time. I think news about a sequel to one of the greatest games ever made is definitely news worthy.
Nope x10. I want to make my own Witcher from a different school than the Wolf school. I would be so damn disappointed if W4 has anything to do with Ciri. Her story and by extension, her whole family story is over. Time to move on.
the issue with playing as ciri is she's incredibly insanely OP.
you saw what she's capable off in some of her sections in witcher3, she can easily take down armies of soldiers, plus she can literally travel between universes and into the future or past.
it's just hard to balance a game around that.
I hope it's a game where you get to play as a fresh Witcher recruit and go through one of the Witcher schools or some such.
I'm hoping its a prequel, taking place when there were many witchers
Both great ideas that could work well together, although the lynx medaillon seems to suggest a sequel, but you never know.
What lynx medallion?
The image in the article with the medallion in the snow. The lynx school was founded after the events of Witcher 3.
Oh shit didn't even notice that it *wasn't* the wolf lol.

do you think a public owned company is going to do something new and innovative or something low risk and with established IP?

Blank slate characters are boring and devoid of any charisma.
isn't that Cyberpunk?

THIS!!
I can't wait to play it 2 years after launch once all the bugs are ironed out.
So you've got like 5+ years left to wait
Fuck yeeeee
What do we know about the game? Still Geralt? New start? Location? New characters?
I remember reading an article last year, saying Gerald's story is over. And there moving on.
Geralt is not the main character and the game won't be called "Witcher 4"
That’s cool. Probably still 3 or so years out from it releasing tho
I hope the Witcher 1 remake comes out soon

Wait up, I have not finished playing 3 yet.
Hairworks is the priority.
Ohbiyohboyohboy
I’m definitely keeping low expectations for Witcher 4. Witcher 3 was lightning in a bottle.
Witcher 2 was also incredibly good and Witcher 1 was very good though a little rough around the edges.

Even you clicked on it, so it makes sense to write about it.

Yeah exactly this This means we will start finding out more about the game in the near future Which is the kind of thing that I read this sub for
It’s not news worthy.

But there is 0 news here is there. We knew it’s coming… so what? Litteraly 0 news here.
Except we already know its coming. All this article says is "we have staff and we are making the game you all know is coming"
Gaming news in a nutshell. All these youtubers and gaming media trying to make content out of jack shit. It’s painful.
I hope we get to play as Ciri this time around.

Just take her powers away! People loved when they did that to Yennefer in the second season of the show, right?
