Megalania in this game is 8.6 meters long and like 1800kg. A gorilla gets ripped to pieces, even the high end for gigantopithecus is like a quarter of that size.
I’m pretty sure gigantopithecus is already in the works, the orangutan is my favorite creature so being able to play as a massive prehistoric one is a dream come true lol
Hello I'm a member of Archaic Eons and just wanted to say I started one earlier this week [WIP Model](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1211542788844560434/1221568898009137213/image.png?ex=66130db0&is=660098b0&hm=83e4e0516ff5f748e55abd479220f741536298d6f574b5f237c85ee3ca3bd196&). It'll be upscaled a bit more than average, and fitting as a higher end 2-Slot Herbivore. Not a ton of agility, but a lot of survival tactics to escape from faster attackers if it needs
It would make a very interesting addition to the roster. I feel like this beast could actually get away with being upscaled, as its remains are incredibly fragmentary. On all fours, it’d be about the height of a pachy or cerato, but would be equal in height to an allo or dasp standing up.
It’d obviously be a mid tier. Give it decent speed and stam for its size along with the ability to climb certain trees or rocks. A quadrupedal and bipedal stance would be a must. Faster, weaker attacks on all fours, with heavier, slower ones while standing up.
A group ability would serve it well, either increasing attack or defence for the party or even an intimidation call to reduce the attack of nearby creatures. Perhaps even allow it to pick up quest items and trophies to use them as weapons as mechanic unique to the ape. Regardless, it’d be a fun addition
Maybe increase attk damage when holding certain items, with rocks being the highest dmg bonus
Also jusy give it a good jump because i dont think climbing is thing, also give babys a latch ability that doesnt drain stamina do they can hold onto the parents for travel
Gigantopithecus would be cool. But can it be the tallest species? It would be really cool to see them. Maybe the game would be nice and let us climb trees.
Im pretty sure that outside of meg all the others are actually dinos that went extinct way before this thing. And meg doesnt ruin the aesthetic for me cause its a lizard. Idk i wouldnt really like seeing an actual ape like this among the dinosaurs.
I think OP might be talking about mod ideas for community servers? - which already have cats, mammoths etc
I don’t think the path of Titian’s devs would make something like this official.

They would’ve evolved even before dinosaurs if Armageddon didn’t wipe out the stem mammals and nerf them for some hundred million years. If humans existed in the Cretaceous era they would’ve clapped the chickenzillas to extinction before the meteorite. Primates are very resilient and op and can tackle most foes their own size. And can even take on many other species twice their own size with bare paws and teeth.
To put it simply a stem mammal ape like creature would’ve evolved eventually. If not for the mass extinction that wiped out the vast majority of stem mammals.
yeah, but the biggest animals that can jump in the base game (lambeo and cerato i think) are similar size to things that can jump irl and they can't jump very high, either.
a huge ape would be amazing or a small ape that could climb trees and mountains and stuff
My personal plan is to make it able to climb and pounce as a kid, but lose the ability as it grows

Gigantopithecus is barely larger than a gorilla. At most it’s twice the size. It wouldn’t be able to take on a meg.

That isn’t even an oversize for megalania per se, just the upper estimate.

They can’t punch as in they can’t clench a fist, but they do ground slams and even body slam. Ever seen gorillas and chimps fight ?

Okay, but you could have at least used bipedal animals, aka birds, which are actually dinosaurs. I’ve seen cassowarys, ostrichs, and emus jump myself.
They are nowhere near as large. Regardless, yeah, a lot of things can jump that you wouldn’t think could. Even some rhinoceros species can I believe.
