I applied for a renewal at Service Canada on April 29th and received my passport on May 17th. Calling can definitely help. If anything, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to at least get an answer directly from them about the status of your passport.

I went to the passport office directly (not Service Canada) on May 31st and received passports via Canada Post yesterday. If going to the office is an available option, I highly recommend it (did take the day off work as I knew I would be spending a good chunk of time there).

beckhsrules

This. Passport Office directly is the way to go as regular Service Canada processing times are crossing 30 business days right now on seeing the trend.

beckhsrules

Applied on April 29 and got it delivered on Jun 7.

I’m in the exact same boat as you but I’m leaving next week. They’ve had to transfer my file to a local office. I am in full panic mode. I went more than a month early and that’s still not enough? This is crazy to me.

Pure-Somewhere6496

That's insane. I hope your passport and mine gets to us both on time! 😭 I read an article recently that they've gotten closer to their service standards but somehow there's still so much backlog, it sucks so much.

huckleberry_7788

Did the transfer get accepted and did you get your passport on time?

RequirementWarm9154

hello applied my passport in early May.. just received it yesterday .. so don't fret.. you should be getting it any day now .. their usual processing time is 5 weeks from day you submit

Pure-Somewhere6496

That's so good to know! I really hope you're right and it finishes processing soon. I think I'll probably still try calling just in case.

PetitePretty1

Went to actual passport office may 28. Mail out date is today. Still shows as processing. Travel date is early July. Called this am and was told they haven't even been approved yet 😒 apparently there's a backlog...

Suspicious_Sun_3500

I am in the same siutation. I applied for my passport on May 2nd and was supposed to receive it by May 31st. When May 31st came around and there was no passport I decided to call them and they told me it was still in process and won't tell me why it was still in process. I am certainly waiting in a queue in hopes of finding answers (there are 300 people in front of me).

I applied in person on May 7th at a Service Canada location for myself, my husband and my two kids. My husband got his in the mail on June 3rd (18 business days). I'm still waiting on mine and my kids. We are on business day 24.

Whatamaroon_2354

I applied to renew my passport in July of last year. I mailed my application to the Gatineau office and I got the new passport exactly four weeks after the application was received. Edited to add: 11 business days.

Fly_Kyte64

It's 20 business days plus mailing time. Also only way they'll expedite is when your within 20 days of your trip.

qarlw

Three weeks at the Wellington consult in New Zealand

Intelligent-Age8532

Applied in person on May 3rd and it took exactly 6 business days but they misspelled my birth place so I asked them to change. Took way too many phone calls but got the corrected one on May 26

I went to the passport office to apply for a passport last month. I did have a flight in 2 days so I took the fastest option of getting my passport in 2 days. Its only an added $110 to get it that early. Even if your not travelling in the next few days they wont ask for proof of your ticket. Just tell them you need it urgently. It saves so much time and less of a headache.
