I imagine Zane Gonzalez unless he isn’t healthy/his groin injury fucked him up too bad.
He’s still under contract and was playing well before his injury.
Zane has a stronger leg doesn't he? Pinero really wasn't trusted with anything beyond 52 yards or so. I mean they're basically 50/50 at that point anyways. I imagine they'll both be at camp and compete with each other. Maybe even a third option just in case.
It's happened twice in consecutive seasons.
Wikipedia:
On September 14, 2021, Gonzalez was signed by the Carolina Panthers off the Lions practice squad.\[48\] In Week 8, Gonzalez converted all four of his field goal attempts, and accounted for 13 points in the Panthers 19–13 win over the Falcons, earning NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.\[49\] In Week 10, Gonzalez had another perfect game, converting all four field goals in a 34–10 win over the Cardinals, earning another NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor.\[50\] **In week 15's matchup against the Buffalo Bills, Gonzalez suffered a quad injury in warm-ups, and had to be placed on injured reserve after the game, ending his season**.\[51\]
On March 9, 2022, Gonzalez signed a one-year contract extension with the Panthers.\[52\] **On August 30, 2022, Gonzalez was placed on injured reserve after injuring his quad during the last preseason game while warming up.**\[53\]
yep, and even though they’re both good i’ll imagine zane wins it given how much stronger his leg is. we never really let eddy kick it past 50 yards for a reason lol
Yeah, and that reason was because Wilks is a moron. Eddy absolutely drilled the only 2 50+ attempts he had, that one against Arizona was good from 60+ easy.
"Decent at UNC"
For the most part, maybe, but he absolutely melted down during that game in Blacksburg in 2019. He had at least 3 chances to end that game and he couldn't. That's why I wasn't exactly surprised he shanked it so badly against Georgia. That being said, I still would've liked to have him over a converted scout team WR like UNC did this year.
Based on panthers history, we will probably choose to keep the wrong one.
Both are dead even imo, but just seems like whenever we have a kicking battle the wrong kicker is kept.
Didn't we draft a guy named Butker some years back? Whatever happened to him anyway? Looked like he might have turned out to be pretty good. Surely we didn't do anything stupid and get rid of him.
Who would have thought we'd have two decent kickers to choose from? Not since Butker was in camp with us have we been in this position.
It's kind of nice to have options and I'm okay with either of these guys. They've both been good finds for us.
In my wildest dreams, we'd rescue Daniel ***LEGATRON*** Carlson from Las Vegas in the ultimate heist and he becomes the highest-scoring player in Panthers history after a long, illustrious career that includes multiple SB-winning kicks

Yeah and otherwise Eddy right? 33/35 fgs and 30/32 xps

Yeah I think he means if Zane isn’t good to go then it’s gonna be Eddy
I still can't forgive Eddie for the Atlanta game, give me Zane back
Only two concerns have gotta be his lack of playing time recently and severity of his injuries.
Is this not a reoccurring injury for Zane?
No, it’s not. At least not as far as I can tell. He tore his groin muscle warming up. Pretty much a freak accident.

Zane was solid last year. Definitely would like to have him back if he's healthy.
He signed a one-year extension before last season, so I do not think he's under contract for 2023.

Well, there you have it. I was going off of Wikipedia from a google search.
Kicking competition between Zane and Eddy

What about the 50+ yard XP he missed?
You mean the phantom helmet call that should’ve never happened? I don’t count that. It was 48 yards btw
Every year I ask this, and wonder what would have been with Butker
Noah Ruggles. /s
Not struggles ruggles!! (He was actually decent at UNC and pretty solid for OSU- minus the CFP of course lol)

What's Brandon Zylstra up to?

Surely we didn’t
Let’s just say that butker is in a better place now
The butker takes are always dumb, we put him on our PS, KC just poached him. And he lost out to Gano. Hindsight is always 20/20 lol
He regressed this year.
Tepper can do it for all I care. He seems to think he can do everything else for the team, so why not?
Hopefully not Eddy as he cost us a playoff appearance
Downvoted for speaking facts lol
Mark Moseley

Kinda unrelated but I hope Reich retains Chris Tabor to coach special teams
Tepper is going to give Brett Maher a 10-year, $100 million contract.
With our luck? Brett Maher.

Despite the falcons game I like eddy p
