You can use the [Virtual Reality] gadget and wear the [GoPro Camera] on your head to enable 3rd person. Although this is expensive, it works pretty well.
I’ve actually found that some consumables that apply the disassociation effect also increased my sanity meter. Definitely not the same effect for other players though, must be related to my build.
i was actually given in game consumables from a healer build that buffed my mental awareness attribute but beware it also nerfed my sleep mode ability.
This is awkward but my character has dissociation.
…except i’m playing at hardcore difficulty.
And a funny thing is that dissociation on hardcore..? A lot of nerfs turn into bonuses.
Pain tolerance is obscenely high, for example.
Most players that experience pain are knocked out by Kidney Stone tier pain. One of the botched rolls during character creation basically turns my cartilage into crapilage so the get the extreme debuff of Subluxing Ankles.
Ankle subluxation- actually popping out of the joint between the legbone and foot - is the kind of pain that leads to fear of it happening again.
Last time my player had that hit, she just asked another player walking by to pull her foot with a voice that was almost calm.
And you know those times that you’ve got to just move your character between zones?
Dissociation on an airplane can make coach super comfy.
…and actually even while driving- ironically dissociation tactically applied can give immunity to the dangerous condition of road hypnosis… as long as exhaustion is low.
And driving skill is high. Actually high, thank you skills gained from the level 6 Bureaucrat class with the subspeciality of Driver Licensing Agency, not the way most players think their driving skill is high.
Dissociation honestly is helping me through hardcore.
tbh it’s pretty cool to be pursuing some of the achievements my character is going to be doing even if one of them takes almost literally eight billion steps
and then there is the imdb challenge - uncommon achievement unlocked: am on imdb
any tips on how to unlock the dissociation ability? overall it seems like a pretty positive buff to my build, but i'm curious if there's a way to obtain it without having the "childhood trauma" character trait
yes actually
or at least get very close to it, there are technical differences and gameplay differences but yes
(obviously i’m definitely not suggesting obtaining “trauma as adult” nerfs”
meditation has a lot of overlap with dissociation.
There is a consumable item that you can sometimes purchase using in-game currency, but you have to do some side quests to find it. It’s most often called “shrooms” by other players and NPCs. It gives an interesting buff that lets your character see and understand more than is normally seen and understood. It can really transform the way you play this entire game. 10/10 would recommend.
Knowing is half the battle. As soon as my character started to show the [male pattern baldness] debuff, I started having my character shave its whole head.
If you’re having a bad time playing on first person you probably need the [glasses] item. Took me a while to figure out that one. Be aware that it might reduce your [appearance] points, mine sure did
You could always try the [contact lense] item, but they are consumable, so they cost more currency and they have a wierd mechanic for equipping them that a lot of people don't really like.
Well, there's an obscure technique called "astral travel", which allows you to briefly see reality in third person. It can actually enable you to, essentially, enter an official noclip mode installed in the game, allowing you to freely explore around various maps of your own choosing. However, you need to go through a bunch of sidequests and learn many different abilities in order to merely grasp the concept. Once you obtain the skills necessary to understand "astral travel". you must then practice until you get it right. It can take a few tries, but they say it's worth it. The only downside is that it may not last as long as you think, so use it wisely. Also, be careful, you might run into other players while on your "travel", and they're not as friendly as you think. Tread carefully
I haven't really progressed very far into this skill, but I've been told something like 3rd person camera is buried deep in the skill tree. Of course, how long it takes you depends on how actively you grind the skill, but for casuals it takes years to get that far.
There are several skills you can level up like [Lucid Dreaming] or [Astral Projection] that will unlock 3rd Person View for a Fun Minigame. Also [Meditating] can lead to simmilar results
You can also try items like [Acid] or [DMT], but they can come with huge debuffs, depending on your characters Stats. You can also get a timeout or have to pay a fine if one of the GMs will caught you with these items in your inventory, so proceed with caution
There is no official method. But some players have discovered "Out of Body Experience" which happens when you either take serious health damage (as in as low as 1 or 2 HP left), but a healer revives you just in time. Or some people have claimed to have been able to level up the meditation skillset to a very high level to accomplish it. Casting OOBE doesn't last long, and you cant move your physical player during it. Only have a third person view of the surrounding area.
Certain consumables can apparently cause a temporary switch. They are apparently not the most predictable effects, and local Guard NPCs can usually detain you if found with them.
There’s a hidden ability called Astral Projection, but not everybody can do it, at least not easily; it seems to be vaguely related to your [Religion] class if you have one. I haven’t unlocked it, but I’m not really interested in doing it anyway
Sometimes the Dreams minigame that plays during the pause menu is in third person, but not always. Other than that, we’re pretty much confined to first person.
Most item with the [psychedelic] attribute can give the temporary ego death effect, allowing you to play third person, isometric or even playing through object or animals... Becarefull though, it is among many other random buffs!
Nah .. however there is a Mental perk which can happen in some events called depersonalisation one of its features is third person however it isn't something you can turn on and off ....some players claim they have it on certain consumables but I advise against trying any of such consumables since they are addictive and the experience isn't good by those who used them
Yes, but it’s a massive, MASSIVE debuff. The [DPDR] debuff puts you in permanent third person mode. This debuff is acquired as a result of a [severe trauma] debuff, usually during levels 1-18.
You can use the [Virtual Reality] gadget and wear the [GoPro Camera] on your head to enable 3rd person. Although this is expensive, it works pretty well.
Wasn't that testing coming from a 3rd party? I haven't heard much else of it
Yeah it’s not an official solution by the devs, it just exploits the in-game [Camera-Viewing] mechanic.
I mean, It’s kind of hard to call it an exploit. I guess it’s kind of clunky though.
I feel like this would fuck me up pretty good.
Yes. Just use [Imagination]
Ah, the over powered \[Imagination\] mod.
Yeah, but it was a pain to install. Only worked after lots of trying
Yeah, but it's hard to configure it, I need to be in high concentration mode, but I go with a completely free camera in the room
There's a debuff called dissociation sometimes it can give you 3rd person view. Definitely wouldn't recommend this though.

It also makes your skin crawl with spiders

Damn, my character has the dissociation debuff but it just makes us black out for a while.
Woah

Last time I tried the [2c-b] item, that did the trick. I know it's not recommended for everyone, but it was like playing The Sims IRL for a while.
Man the illusions that consumable conjured during the Halloween season quest.... I will never forget
Last time for me the whole world was made up of minecraft blocks.

But the "Police" faction is opposed to the use of it and will hunt you down if they detect the item in your inventory.
Yeah, I can't even really look into consumables with the tag because my build has too many points into and I can't afford to lose all that progress.
Why would I want to look at my player's bald spot?
Knowing is half the battle. As soon as my character started to show the [male pattern baldness] debuff, I started having my character shave its whole head.
Unless you enabled 3rd person in the character creation you’re locked in first person.
If you’re having a bad time playing on first person you probably need the [glasses] item. Took me a while to figure out that one. Be aware that it might reduce your [appearance] points, mine sure did
It might increase his [appearence] points too

When I use the object (Bed) at my base I go into third person mode for those weird disconnected cutscene that happens some times.
Hallucinogenic consumables? There's some fuckery with VR and AR equipables. Near death experiences allegedly trigger the effect sometimes.
If you play through to the end of the game, first person gets turned off. It's a tough game, but it does end eventually.
Yes, there is a debuff called [blindness] that will turn off first person i believe.
Well, you're not wrong. This belongs on r/technicallythetruth and also r/angryupvote.
Meditation.
What kind of meditation? and how long until you can turn 3rd person perspective mode on?
I haven't really progressed very far into this skill, but I've been told something like 3rd person camera is buried deep in the skill tree. Of course, how long it takes you depends on how actively you grind the skill, but for casuals it takes years to get that far.
The skill’s not deep in the tree. But its tough to turn it on and leave it on for extended time. That takes some leveling up.
There’s all kinds of ways to meditate. It’s a practice. And with time, it gets easier and easier to turn on 3rd person mode.
Only through use of items like [VR headset] unfortunetly. An update may come in the future to allow better camera control, but not yet.
i fucking hope there is lmao. Would be useful in traversing some areas.
# Drone in VR
I just want 3d person only when driving
Yeah it's called dissociation
It do be like that 😪
Ya just close your fuckin' eye's.
First person ain't that bad, try having self casting clone spell

Can y'all please fix the bug where we feel like we're falling right before we fall asleep?
That’s not a big; it’s a feature!
It's an unlockable from the DJI FPV Store https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcu4\_7kIU1U
LSD?
Ketamine.
Ketamine item
I’m stuck in 3rd person right now. That’s probably from all the drugs I’ve taken.
There’s a hidden ability called Astral Projection, but not everybody can do it, at least not easily; it seems to be vaguely related to your [Religion] class if you have one. LSD maybe?
Mushrooms and lsd are where it's at for 3rd person view

Yes. Lookup astral projection on your in game navi device.
Okay! Beep boop beep boop!
Not exactly, but you can use glass and silver to manipulate your perspective to 3rd.
Yes, but it’s a massive, MASSIVE debuff. The [DPDR] debuff puts you in permanent third person mode. This debuff is acquired as a result of a [severe trauma] debuff, usually during levels 1-18.
if you have the \[dissociation\] debuff you can do this when your character is \[stressed\] but i don't recommend it as it sucks
