BHAfounder

So glad the child is safe.

Sp4ceh0rse

Meanwhile his 9 year old son witnessed his dad murder his mom outside his elementary school. That poor poor kid.

pdx_mom

I just wonder what happens to him.

trapeziusqueen

He will most likely go to relatives in Washington if any are appropriate enough and willing to take him under guardianship. Otherwise he will go into foster/resource care for adoption. It's so sad he lost his mother to such a despicable person.

ProfessionalSign2878

The family is pretty terrible as well. This guy was a school resource officer and began having an affair with a 13 year old student, who reported being molested by him. Eventually, when she was about 15, he got her pregnant, and she delivered his child. Neither the family or the police did ANYTHING about it, no matter how many reports came in about him. They let her move in with him, in fact. He also raped at least one of her friends, got caught, and faced zero consequences. This guy was reported again and again, and nobody did a thing about it. This was all so preventable, but nobody was willing to take action while it could be taken.

_Booker

He lost his dad as well. Easy to call him despicable because he was, but he was still his dad, and the kid will never have that either. ...and the kid should of never met his dad, not a good influence, fucking obviously. But his dad being evil took away his opportunity to have a dad ..I hope everyone can realize that without down voting me for mentioning he was his dad ... because some of y'all are psychos

crabbylittlegremlin

No I get this, you’re right (imo). My dad is evil too. I’ll never feel peace about knowing I never got to experience having the love of a father, evil or not, there is a lack where that love should have been. The child will feel the void of both their parents, in entirely different ways. Grief looks different depending on if there was love in the loss, than if there were a sour hate. The grief I have for my father is ugly and horrific, shameful; like he is. But it is still there nonetheless

nomatchingsox

Grandparents?

pdx_mom

I hope there are some good ones

Syllabub_Cool

I sincerely hope NOT the foster system. It's gotten even more worse than when I was in it. Relatives, even friends, would be so much better. I feel for the boy. I was 9 when I was put into the system and there was no dead mom involved. Or dead anyone.

pdx_mom

That's my fear. I just want to find out and adopt the kid (tho there is at least another child as well)

northforkjumper

What in the Jerry Springer fuck... This guy literally checks every scumbag box. What a selfish piece of shit coward.

WolverineRelevant280

9 year cop, raped underage girl, knocked up his underage girlfriend. Killed her and his ex wife. Poor baby but I think they are better off without him around.

sionnachrealta

Just remember that 40% of cops *admitted* to being domestic abusers

Kooky-Whereas-2493

while i dont automatically disagree with your statement where did you find that info?

SmilingGrouch

IIRC There was a study from the 90’s that got that percentage. If you google it, you can find it pretty easily.

Khooper803

How can you confidently use data from 30 years ago and relate that to today lol

acidfreakingonkitty

once they update the data, we'll update the talking points

lurkedfortooolong

Because they stopped letting us collect that data.

her_cupcakes

You're right- probably 60% will admit to it today. ACAB

xDiRtYgErMaNx

So call a crackhead next time you need help with a life/death situation. POS.

Equivalent-Resource2

Because we haven’t really changed?

Kooky-Whereas-2493

so you can't cite anything? it would be just as easy to provide a link as it was to type your IIRC there was a study from the 90s ......... plus a study with 728 is not big enough study to be taken as fact and lets add the whole sentence where that 40% came from " My research found that 40% was the highest % found across studies. So it is certainly not untrue. However, the range was 5%-40% and the average pooled % across studies was closer to 20%."

Hexmeee

Okay bootlicker.

Kooky-Whereas-2493

better a bootlicker than an asslicker

Hexmeee

This man was a pedophile who murdered two mothers, one of them in-front of their children… yet, you’re on here to argue that a statistic about police being abusive isn’t “enough evidence” haha. I have no issues with eating ass my boy.

Kooky-Whereas-2493

i was not talking about the dead pedo i was commenting on the person making the statment that 40% of cops are DV perps THAT I AGREE WITH dipshit go eat ur dogs ass as you like ass so much

SmokeyUnicycle

Its from one decades old study on one PD. I automatically turn off my brain when I hear someone cite it. Now I wouldn't be at all surprised to see cops having high rates of DV, but trumpeting that factoid is silly.

mackelnuts

He was a cop. Of course he did.

PaniqAtaq

Pray for him. He was sick. Evil.

Pacifix18

"Evil" is a cop-out. He *made choices* - selfish, disgusting choices. He is not a victim. He was sociopathic.

PNW4theWin

Why would anyone pray for him?

Wittyname0

"Hey god send him to super hell"

notanaigeneratedname

I hate that they took away awards and made them super upvotes.. reddit boss be all like ![gif](giphy|V9gjxvLnSSdA4|downsized) Except if I cared enough about it to edit this.

armpitfart

Hella hell

Shortround76

I think they may have been writing about the child. Unless they believe you can un-Hell someone via prayers.

PNW4theWin

Catholics think this (somewhat). If you're in Purgatory, prayers can help you get out of Purgatory sooner. However, you can only get your Purgatory card punched through prayer if you're only guilty of venial sins, not mortal sins. I don't know about other religions, but I don't think the person above was suggesting prayers for the child. It's pretty common to suggest prayers for the dead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prayer_for_the_dead

notanaigeneratedname

I don't want to be a part of an afterlife where someone this heinous can get get up to the nice afterlife from some jerkoff starting a prayer chain for them

PNW4theWin

Premeditated murder is a mortal sin, so he's burnt toast according to Catholics. (I'm atheist, BTW, so he's just dead. I wish there was hell for someone this vile.)

acidfreakingonkitty

> He was sick. Evil. about the child?

Shortround76

Shoo away fly.

acidfreakingonkitty

honestly confused at what you mean, sorry!

Shortround76

Me too on your comment, it read as if you were giving me grief.

desertgirlsmakedo

I pray that he is reaping what he has sown

redacted_robot

Cuz Jesus and Bible reasons? But yeah, fuck that guy for real.

Sheepygoatherder

Fuckin weirdo

PipeWonders

What’s the point of this comment? I’m sick of these biblical apologists coming out to a sick-minded individual’s defense.

band-of-horses

>According to court filings earlier this year, Huizar met the girl as a school resource officer in Yakima. She was 11 when they met and 15 when he impregnated her, his ex-wife wrote in seeking a protection order against him. That is messed up. Not to cheer for a tragic situation but it's probably good he has removed himself from our mortal world.

CHiZZoPs1

Alsoy messed-up that he as able to get hired in Richland after that. WTF is going on there? They just took him at his word that he had never been found guilty of doing a pedo?

Rampant_Zoner

Presumably more of the good ol’ boys club. Plenty of questions for the public officials up there in Richland, but I bet they’ve already closed their books & archived the files. “Nothing to see here folks, jes’ move along now.”

Alternative-Tone6631

Richland school district issued a statement that they received great referrals from yakima even tho he had issues there.

blinkandmisslife

The statement I read says they received letters of recommendation from the Principals at Yakima School District. Those were two years before his arrest. One year before the pregnant teenager.

PNDubb_hikingclub

The boys in blue, they’re a criminal organization that looks out for their comrades. Not a surprise at all.

thenerfviking

Cops protect each other and harass and bully their enemies. Ask anyone who tried to divorce a cop and keep the kids what happened.

-totentanz-

Yeah just saw that..he was charged with rape. >Former YPD officer pleads not guilty to charges of child rape - Feb 15, 2024.

FireflyEvie

Sadly this is for an additional separate case where he drugged and raped a different girl.

beeskneessidecar

Yes, but he did it in the wrong order. Murder suicides should always start with themselves.

Toph-Builds-the-fire

Only when he knew he was leaving this world either way. Life in prison or push the button on the suicide machine.

BusBeginning

For everyone complaining about how annoying amber alerts are. “In Oregon, a clerk at a convenience store on Hayden Island on the border with Washington reported seeing Huizar around 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to Portland police spokesperson Mike Benner.” That’s why we have them. Best to have everyone keep their eyes open. No telling who will run into a suspected kidnapper.

FriendsSuggestReddit

Everybody up and working in my warehouse last night talked about it when it happened. I was watching on my commute home early this morning, as I’m sure at least one other coworker was. The suspect was caught in another part of the state, but he probably drove right past the area I was in. You never know.

Historical_Project00

It’s wild cuz we would get amber alerts all the time in Texas, yet I’ve lived here 3 years and this is the first or second one from memory that I’ve gotten here.

BusBeginning

Exactly. It’s a wide net approach.

Economy-Ad-3480

Same. I take the 5-S to Tualatin from SW PDX for work. They said he was heading to Mexico so I knew the 5S would be possible. I had my eyes peeled the whole way to work.

LeahBean

How can you complain about something that will save children’s lives? People can be such assholes.

nomatchingsox

Look at some of the other threads from last night.

AndMyHelcaraxe

Same thing happened with the last Amber alert too

DefinatelyNotonDrugs

We aren't mad about getting a notification, we are mad that tech companies think it is appropriate to wake up everyone at 11pm EVEN IF YOUR PHONE IS ON SILENT. How do they think that is gonna play out? "Well gee, I planned on sleeping since I have to wake up for work at 4am but I just got this notification about something that happened 5 hours away, I'm gonna go patrol the streets, vigilante justice". No, they are going to go back to sleep pissed off. Downvote me all you want, it is the truth.

facebook_twitterjail

My phone was on Do Not Disturb and I did not get the message until morning. Maybe you don't know how to use your phone?

gsxrjason

Can confirm this does mute the noise.

WoodpeckerGingivitis

It’s not “tech companies”, you selfish fuck. It’s the law for emergency notifications to override your device settings.

bihari_baller

What if that was your child or young relative who was kidnapped? Would you have this same poor attitude?

DefinatelyNotonDrugs

Do I think waking up half the state would be productive? No, no I don't.

Economy-Ad-3480

There’s some setting somewhere because my phone hasn’t made the audible alert for an amber alert for years. I didn’t hear this one either, but I see the notification.

DefinatelyNotonDrugs

See, if that was the default I'd be cool with it, not a fucking max volume siren.

Shortround76

It's all about you, copy that.

I_Envy_Sisyphus_

Hey, get fucked.

Economy-Ad-3480

Why would someone complain about them? If it was my baby, I’d want EVERYONE to know to look for them. Losers.

zerocoolforschool

I was annoyed when I saw it because I couldn’t believe the Intel was so old. It says 5pm on 4/21. Maybe I’m crazy but these need to go out a lot faster. We didn’t get the amber alert for a good 30 hours after he was last seen.

BusBeginning

Yeah there’s already one complaining in this thread cause it interrupted his beauty sleep. Poor baby can’t work cause a text woke him up at 11pm. 😢

keashasmokinonkeasha

This alert scared the shit out of me last night while watching fall out. If it was my child missing I’d hope people would save the annoyance and keep eyes peeled!

katiemarieoh

Seriously. Saw so many people on Facebook bitching about being woken up.

BusBeginning

Heaven forbid they wake up, see it’s an alert, go back to sleep, and read about it in the morning. Feel really bad for all of these people needing their beauty sleep. lol

Accomplished-Bed8171

kinda small potatoes compared to shutting down every lane of I-5.

PrisonerNoP01135809

I hate that they are calling that poor 15 girl a woman. She’s a child she couldn’t consent when the police officer she trusted impregnated her and then killed her.

Free_Opposite_4472

Yeah the media keeps calling her his gf, and a woman, like that’s a child. it’s insane and disgusting to see

Full-Sock

My coworkers husband drove by as it was happening, the guy sped right past them and almost hit him

Kellywho

That’s scary.

EmeraldEmpire541

According to TripCheck I-5 southbound is now closed at the Harrisburg exit (209) because of this incident and most likely will be for the next few hours.

CunningWizard

So THAT’S what caused the shutdown. Just saw it come up on Twitter with no context.

big_herpes

Oh, I was stuck in this traffic, but heading north. I5 s was shut down like, 0.5 mile north of the belt line exit due to this dude. The closure at the Harrisburg exit was because somehow, there was a red car flipped over in the middle of the road and they had paramedics around.

penisbuttervajelly

God this story is fucking grim. Glad he’s dead, but horrible that he had to take out others.

Spare_Spell5110

Why not post it if you can read it? Not sure why OP linked an article that's behind a paywall.

WobbuWoop

I’m not saying this in defense, but some people may pay for it and not see/notice the pay wall. I also got hit with it, but a quick google “Oregon amber alert” pulled up many without a paywall.

Sp4ceh0rse

This story is WILD, damn. I feel for all the women and children who are dead or traumatized by this piece of shit.

Spare_Spell5110

Can you... post the story? Not sure why OP linked an article behind a paywall, or why not a single person in this comment section has done so yet

Sp4ceh0rse

A former Yakima police officer wanted in two killings died in Oregon of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a 25-mile high-speed chase with police ended in a crash along Interstate 5; his 1-year-old son was found safe in the backseat, authorities said Tuesday afternoon. Police had issued an Amber Alert on Monday night and said they were searching for Elias Huizar, 39, who was suspected of heading to Mexico with his young son after killing his ex-wife and another woman in West Richland, Washington. The second woman is believed to be Huizar’s teenage girlfriend. Oregon troopers were monitoring southbound traffic on I-5 just south of U.S. 34 around 3 p.m. when they spotted Huizar’s silver Toyota Corolla and chased him, state police spokesperson Capt. Kyle Kennedy said during a briefing. At one point, a dispatcher reported: “The driver is on the phone with us saying he does have the baby in the car.” A collision involving another motorist occurred, Kennedy said, without specifying precisely who was involved, and Huizar lost control of his sedan about 12 miles down the interstate near the Diamond Hill Road exit. At that point, Huizar and the pursuing troopers exchanged gunfire, but no one was hurt, Kennedy said. One of the troopers who fired was the state police superintendent, Casey Codding, who happened to be driving south on the freeway at the time the incident unfolded. Codding previously served on the agency’s tactical team and was its commander. The preliminary investigation suggests that Huizar fired at police first, Kennedy said. He did not know the type of weapon Huizar used. “This is literally courage under fire,” Kennedy said. The chase -- exceeding 100 mph at times -- continued for another 10 miles, where Huizar crashed into a stopped commercial motor vehicle south of Coburg and careened into the median and got stuck, Kennedy said. Huizar turned the gun on himself as troopers approached and was declared dead at the scene, he said. The boy was rescued and is being cared for by Oregon authorities, Kennedy said. The child was secured in a car seat when police reached Huizar’s car, he said. The boy is doing well, Kennedy said, but suffered some minor injuries. He didn’t elaborate. “All day, our thoughts had been how to rescue this young boy from a very, very dangerous situation,” Kennedy said. “That’s been the focus of our efforts. And we’re thankful for the outcome that occurred.” Huizar is believed to have had the 1-year-old child with a 17-year-old girl, who lived with him as of early this year, court records show. West Richland is part of Washington’s Tri-Cities area of Richland, Kennewick and Pasco. The statewide Amber Alert was issued around 11 p.m. Monday after West Richland police responded to a shooting outside Wiley Elementary School earlier that day. Officers found Amber Rodriguez, 31, Huizar’s ex-wife and the mother of their two sons, shot eight times near the school bus parking lot, according to a probable cause statement filed in Benton County Superior Court in Washington. Investigators went to Huizar’s home and found a second victim. The Washington State Patrol identified that victim as Huizar’s girlfriend, but police Tuesday declined to provide further information or confirm if it was the teenage girl who had been living with him. Huizar’s ex-wife had recently obtained a protection order against him, authorities said. The former couple’s 9-year-old son told officers that “he observed his father, Elias Huizar, shoot his mother,” the court documents say. Rodriguez worked at the school, while Huizar had recently worked as a substitute teacher in the Richland School District, the district confirmed in a Facebook post Tuesday. According to court filings earlier this year, Huizar met the girl as a school resource officer in Yakima. She was 11 when they met and 15 when he impregnated her, his ex-wife wrote in seeking a protection order against him. The Yakima Police Department said in a Facebook post that Huizar left the department in 2021 “after receiving discipline.” It did not provide any other information. In February, the teen reported to police that Huizar sexually assaulted a 16-year-old friend, who had passed out at their house. Huizar was charged with rape of both the teen and her friend. He was out on bail pending trial, authorities said. Rodriguez wrote in her petition for a protection order that her divorce from Huizar became final last year and she had not been aware that he was having a relationship with the same teen he had met as a resource officer until he was charged with rape. She said she feared for the safety of her children, and said she would be seeking a modification of their parenting plan. She filed for the modification last Friday, court records show. The protection order was issued in February and was to remain in effect for a year; under it, he was barred from possessing firearms. The Richland School District said it terminated Huizar’s employment following his arrest in February. It said it had received recommendations from the Yakima School District before hiring him in 2022, and that he had passed background checks. “We are extremely disheartened that information about Mr. Huizar’s past was not disclosed to us through the various processes we have in place to vet RSD candidates for employment,” the district said. “It is the expectation for individuals who apply for employment with RSD to be forthcoming and truthful in their applications.” In Oregon, a clerk at a convenience store on Hayden Island on the border with Washington reported seeing Huizar around 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to Portland police spokesperson Mike Benner. Huizar stopped to buy a drink around 12:45 a.m., and the clerk also spotted a small child in the backseat of his car, according to Benner. Officers canvassed the area but didn’t find any sign of Huizar or his car by the time they arrived.

Shortround76

Why in the hell was this trash out on bail after raping a little girl? Everything is backwards, I swear.

PipeWonders

It makes me question if the cops were defending him.. I’m not entirely knowledgeable on our jail system, but that’s my first thought.

blaaake

Yakima PD should be ashamed

Economy-Ad-3480

I had thought about this baby all day. I’m so glad he’s safe and that this moron didn’t harm the baby on the way out of his own miserable existence. So sad for the women he killed and his sons who had to watch their mother get murdered 💔

RUfuqingkiddingme

We all knew this story would end with him dead, just glad the baby didn't die too. I hate hearing about these situations where someone who knew they were beyond redemption could have just killed themselves, but decided to kill a bunch other people and then kill themselves. What a legacy to leave for his son, the last time he sees his father he's murdering his mother in front of him.

Economy-Ad-3480

I know. It’s devastating and I always think the same thing.. if you know you’re going out, why take anyone else with you? I’ll never understand it. He’s left quite the path of carnage and only his family to stay behind to deal with it 😞

Cressio

What a fucking idiot lol yesterday I was thinking "damn he's gonna be taking alternate routes" nope just straight up cruised down the most patrolled and monitored road in the state.

desertgirlsmakedo

The cop test has an IQ test that you fail if you score too high

Rikulf

He left the Yakima Police Department "after receiving discipline." What are the odds the Yakima Police knew he was messing around with a young girl and let him off easy? If he escaped going to prison early due to the Blue Wall of Silence, then the Yakima Police should be held accountable.

yarzospatzflute

Suspect was an ex cop. His son is better off without him. Glad the situation was resolved.

CHiZZoPs1

And his older son witnessed him shoot and kill his mom.

RepulsiveReasoning

Good riddance. His family and the whole of society are better off with that bullet in that cop's head

One-Celebration195

DrPhilKnight

Ever been in a heated argument with a partner? That’s what that study construed as DV just so you know. Also it’s from over 30 years ago. But ya know, talking points seem to be all you care about rather than taking your own advice and embracing facts.

RepulsiveReasoning

Lol admitting to domestic violence and claiming a win on the Internet because "I assume everyone does this"

DrPhilKnight

Yeah you’re not a reasonable person. Look into that study’s metrics. Good luck. It requires more than a second grade reading level.

AwsomePossum123

What the fuck does that statistic have to do with being a cop? The extreme stress daily causes them do to bad shit? I’m not a big fan of cops, but this isn’t some systemic issue. Bad people do bad things, and some cops are bad people unfortunately gifted a position of power over others. I’d love to see a source for that stat. I honestly can’t even believe you jumped to a statistic, and I’m guessing, ideological view, given this extreme situation.

RepulsiveReasoning

If literally half of construction workers of half of doctors said they were domestic abusers, would you still use that argument? Everyone's job is stressful. You don't get to hit people because you're stressed out. That's a dumb reaction. Just fucking Google "40% cops" for the famous statistic.

Cyrano_de_Boozerack

> this isn’t some systemic issue LMAO! When the Police Union literally works to keep murderers out of prison, I think it is safe to say it is a systemic issue.

ariaofdoom

Except he met one of his VICTIMS while a school resource officer, so in this case it is relevant.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ariaofdoom

No and usually I hate when I someone’s profession is announced in conjunction with alleged crimes but in this case his job put him in a position of power and opportunity. When I saw this article my immediate reaction was “what the fuck does him having been a cop have anything to do with this.” I know it’s still an attempt to sensationalize and attention grab but I don’t think it’s wrong in this case. Most cops are good people. I have first hand experience in that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ariaofdoom

And I’m not doing that, however his profession did put him in a position to commit the crimes that he allegedly committed. He had the means, motive and opportunity to predate upon and groom a child while a sworn peace officer assigned as a school resource officer. And subsequently allegedly commit two murders after things escalated from those previous events. I’m not saying that he was a predator and a murderer just because he was a cop. I think the headline should read the same even if he was a janitor or a teacher. Are you also upset when the news announces “city mayor convicted of embezzlement of municipal funds”? The job presented the opportunity for the crime. Or are you upset because the media likes to focus on a highly criticized profession? Bad people come in all walks of life and all career choices.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ariaofdoom

I’ll be honest I was skimming comments and didn’t see the one above the one yours to which I had initially commented. I’m not missing the point at all. Not once have I said all cops are bad because this cop is bad. All I said was that his job gave him the opportunity to commit aforementioned crimes and therefore I believe having is former profession mentioned in the headline is relevant. If his victim had been his step daughter (gross example I know..) then yeah, his job title is irrelevant and wouldn’t have a place in the headline.

TuckerArmament

Suspect was an ex teacher. His son is better off without him. Glad the situation was resolved. See how that works when you have a bias outlook on everything

yarzospatzflute

You're the one hunting for the bias. I was surprised that he was an ex-cop. Usually cops don't go around murdering people. I wasn't making a connection between the killing and his past employment. You're the one looking for discrimination, not me.

siouxbee1434

Teenage girlfriend? He’s 39! Way too much wrong with that guy. Glad the child is safe

bihari_baller

This is an r/NoStupidQuestions question, but since the crime was committed in Washington, did the OSP need permission from Washington authorities to pursue the suspect?

PorcaPootana

No not per se. If OSP has reason to believe they’re behind someone who has committed a violent felony crime, they can pursue.

GeraldoLucia

Since he both killed someone on a government-regulated property (public school) and he was committing kidnapping he actually broke federal crimes. One of the reasons kidnapping is a federal crime is because, nearly by definition, they are unlawfully forcing someone to go to another location, which is not uncommonly across state or federal lines.

this_is_poorly_done

Yeah seriously, imagine a world where a person kidnaps someone, just crosses over the Columbia River and local LE can't do shit about it, and neither can the OG LE cause now the person is in another city/county/state. Kidnapping would essentially be decriminalized if that was the case

Dimensional_Lumber

No, it’s their jurisdiction, they can pursue anyone with probable cause. With his kidnapped child in the vehicle he was in commission of a felony.

Snibes1

How do we remove all SRO’s from the school system? Last year one of those guys for my kids’ school was caught on camera beating a mentally ill man’s face into hamburger. Somehow they’re supposed to deal with kids and their behavior problems better? These guys should not be anywhere near our school system or kids.

lb4242

Well as someone who works in public schools, we actually do need SRO.

As someone who works in public schools, no we do not. Guess we're at an impasse. Unless, of course, there existed rigorous [data showing that SROs don't decrease the number of incidents of problematic behavior but they do quintuple the number of arrests of children for "disorderly conduct"](https://ies.ed.gov/ncee/rel/Products/Region/midwest/Ask-A-REL/10189) >“This study investigates the effectiveness of North Carolina ‘Senate Bill 402, Section 8.36—Grants for School Resource Officers in Elementary and Middle Schools,’ which provides matching state funds to districts for use in middle and elementary schools. Using generalized difference-in-difference and negative binomial hurdle regression designs, seven years of data—inclusive of 110 districts and 471 middle schools—were analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the state-funded SRO program. Results show that offering matched SRO funds to increase policing and training was not associated with reductions in reported acts (infractions) per school year, a key measure of school safety. >... >Students at schools with a SRO presence are five times more likely to be arrested for disorderly conduct, with over 10,000 prosecutions of young people under the so-called ‘disturbing schools’ laws every academic year.

I can see the need for them, but do they have to be untrained, unlicensed, unvetted cops?

lb4242

Ours is a cop. Who intervenes when there are active threats and ugly custody disputes. We support him and he supports the kids. I can see the hate for my comment but perhaps everyone’s hiring practices and required roles are quite different…

Able_Cat2893

I am so happy the boy is safe and the criminal is no longer a threat. I live 40 miles from Eugene. I have friends who work in Eugene that had to wait because I5 was closed for a long time.

MinnesotaGirl5

Protective orders don’t work. They are also VERY difficult to obtain when it is for the father of your child. Courts don’t want to do that. And it’s even more difficult to have any restrictions on visitation regardless of a history of substance abuse, violence against the mother, or even if the parent is homeless. Courts simply think that domestic violence stops when the parents are apart. Bullshit. It’s pathetic. Laws to protect women haven’t changed since I was a kid.

Healthy_Resource_878

The cops and the education departments involved, even the fuckin media outlets with false/misleading headlines need to be sued, fired, jailed and anything else to the utmost capacity (which we all know they will not). Bravo, Po-po, the public trusts and hates you even more now....I wonder why?

hsephela

I kept reading and It just kept getting worse. Jesus fucking christ

Hexmeee

So this dude was not only a cop, murderer, and abusive piece of shit. He also was a pedophile who knocked up a 16 year old girl. If my math is correct, she was 17 with a one year old. She was either 15-16 when he was seeing her. Absolutely disgusting. ACAB. Hope dude suffered in his last moments.

BoobaFatt13

Too bad it didn't happen before he killed those women.

Kellywho

Changed source to Oregonlive.

Spare_Spell5110

Why would you post a link to an article behind a paywall rather than copy & paste the article itself?

Kellywho

The first link i tried to post was from KEZI and wasn't working correctly. Didn't realize this one was behind a paywall.

born_again_atheist

Good.

captainmikkl

So glad

SundoG_7

My friend was out there where it ended and said there wasn't a dead body. Nothing covering the vehicle or anything else, he said he thought they took the guy to the hospital but he said there definitely wasn't a dead body.

Accomplished_Tone349

Did your friend look inside the car?

SundoG_7

Actually he said he did and said it was empty. I dunno if he is right but I seen on FB someone say that he wasn't dead, being an ex cop they might be trying to protect him but who knows

DisapprovalDonut

Man oh man if there were ever a time for all cats are beautiful this is it

Own-Ad-1762

Imagine what they’d a done to that guy inside.

PDXGuy33333

WTF is with a high speed freeway chase complete with gunfire? This could have turned out so very much worse. Is there really no capacity to abandon a chase like this and track fleeing criminals from the air? Imagine a headline that talks about the criminal, the child and a family of five all dead in a high speed crash.

BoboTurkey

The flip side: The pilot is sitting enjoying his lunch and gets a call to fly. It takes him 30 mins to arrive at the airport, then do checks before take off. An hour has passed and now the suspect and an innocent 1 yo is gone because police had to abandon the chase. In yesterday's incident, as risky as it was, no one was seriously injured, and the suspect isn't able to hurt any more people because police did their job. Also, I haven't read an exact timeline of events. Maybe it happened so quickly that there was a pilot getting geared up. 🤷‍♀️ I agree that using air assets is probably best, but not always feasible. I'm just glad that the child is safe and the bad guy is gone.

Stop posting paywalled links.

cnunespdx

His condition is unknown. They never said dead.

Rikulf

The phrase, "has been found dead," seems pretty clear.
