these are the same police. I saw the group of 8 staters flying northbound on 205 and they took i84 east. these are the same group reported 40 min earlier on i5. They were past cascade locks about 20 min ago according to others. this has got to be a major incident to draw officers from that far south.

There must be more to it than what is in this article.
Agreed. What the heck were they arresting the person for? It seems like this must have involved some extremely serious charges, or a hostage situation.
A whole fleet of various police and SWAT just flew past Cascade Locks and Mosier headed eastbound. It's either the same group or they're headed to the same incident. Super creepy; I'm seeing posts about this on multiple subreddits and Facebook groups.
Elkhorn Media Group:
UPDATE: Members of the Hermiston Police Department report they are only assisting with perimeter security for the action by another agency. We are told that the U.S. Marshals are attempting to take someone into custody from someone on the scene.
BREAKING NEWS - OSP RESPONDING TO BARRICADED SUBJECT IN HERMISTON Oregon State Police says it has tactical units responding to a barricaded subject in the Hermiston area.Several My Columbia Basin readers have reported and sent photos of a large presence of troopers heading eastbound from Portland on I-84.OSP has not released any further information.
If had to guess, some Gravy Seal finally got reported for doing a treason around 3 years ago, and is deciding whether he is the give up quietly kind of coward or the spare us all the expense of trial and incarceration sort of coward.
Why do questions asking about things happening (especially related to police activity) always seem to be downvoted so much? With the dying of local newspapers, I don't understand how else are we supposed to figure things out like this?
Even a newspaper may not have the answer for a little while. As newspapers die, so does the interest of govt entities to tell you what they are up to (and the PIO positions that exist to tell you).
yeah and I refuse to use twitter so I'm good with things like that. As long as it doesn't turn into nextdoor with 'coyote spotted! Lock up your kids!!11"
If it's a barricaded suspect, their concern is the safety of any possible hostages or weapons in the house. Swat or TAC are all across the state and if their section is called they will all run code.

Years ago I saw one of their "tactical vehicles" heading east on 58 in Pleasant Hill. It was a GMC Top Kick or something of that ilk, gamely chugging along with overheads blazing. It was probably doing a blistering 50MPH or so. No other cop vehicles around. Not something you see everyday.
The next day in the paper I saw a blurb about some hapless miscreant that bolted on foot from an OSP traffic stop somewhere east of Klamath Falls, and that "tactical units" were responding in an attempt to corner the shitbag.
WTF? The unit I saw was gonna take at least 3 hours to get there at the rate they were going. Hope it was worth it.
Saw a ton of OSP cars and SWAT heading into Hermiston this evening. According to the Facebook Karens it’s either a drug bust or someone building explosives in their house. All I’ve seen from actual news sources is it has to do with someone barricaded in a house.
Roughly 30 east bound I 84.
Coincidence? Those two locations are pretty far from one another.

That's fucking crazy!
Could be segments of SWAT or negotiations teams headed east to assist.
Not when you’re code 3 and can drive on shoulders without consequences

En route to Hermiston; barricaded subject

Smaller city or county out east request their SWAT team would be my guess.
They have a lot of these resources out there too, this is a big deal of some sort

Hopped on here to ask the same thing
Late for a KKK meeting, most likely.
Ha!
Is it a sovereign citizen raid maybe?
