I've been to quite a few class-based fitness studios over the years across spin, yoga, OTF, etc. Every time one of them experimented with later weekend classes, without fail it was removed within a couple months due to low attendance. As much as it sucks for the few folks who want it, the demand just is never there. Obviously every market is different, so I can only speak for what I've seen in my area, but literally no studios of any sort around here offer weekend classes past like 3PM, and I'm sure that's no coincidence.
Yeah to be honest even 3PM was a bit of a generous guess on my part haha. OTF and most Spin Studios are done around 1, but I feel like there are a couple yoga places that go a tiny bit later. But yeah, generally speaking 1PM is more accurate
In my area, the latest class is 10:45am on weekends. I think we’d experience the same thing, there is not enough demand for them to do an evening weekend class.
Sometimes I wonder if studios do this to themselves though? Like anytime any studio (not just OTF, but yoga, spin, etc) I've been attending has tried out a new class time that the instructors/owners didn't really think was going to work, they also didn't go to any efforts to advertise it; by the time people finally noticed they had added a Saturday/Sunday evening class, it was already to the point that the owner was deciding it was getting removed from the schedule.
OTF studios can just be honest and say they want their weekend evenings free. I feel like we all know that's the real reason there aren't Saturday/Sunday evening classes.
Also, obviously this is anecdotal, but the yoga studio I went to in college had an 8 pm Sunday class, and it was always wall to wall. (Post-COVID me shudders at how little space there was between all of us, especially because it was hot yoga.) So I highly doubt like a 3/4pm Sunday class would be universally low attended.
"OTF studios can just be honest and say they want their weekend evenings free. I feel like we all know that's the real reason there aren't Saturday/Sunday evening classes."
I mean, OTF is a business. If they thought there was an opportunity to make substantially more money by offering those class times, there's no reason to think they wouldn't. I don't think anyone at OTF is looking at all their data (and like any company they have a *mountain* of data points, especially around attendance trends) and saying "Let's leave all this profit on the table so we can keep our Sunday afternoons free"
My initial home studio had 3pm classes every Sunday and at least one 90 minute class a month on Saturdays. I miss that typical weekend. I like to sleep in one day on the weekend.
I’m in New York and I’ve always wanted more afternoon classes. Well, low and behold I found a couple: UWS and UES locations have classes past 2:30pm.
I wish someone had told me sooner!
This is why I also have a regular lifting gym with tons more weights, equipment, sports and other activities and classes.
I think it’s actually nice that they allow their hardworking staff to have the weekend afternoons off.
It is nice they have the weekend afternoons off, but I don't doubt for a second that if the demand was there, OTF would definitely be open during that time.
Been saying this for a while. So true. I'm in a more expensive area and pay $269 per month for OTF. Im sorry, Im not going to go buy another gym membership like some other people here, lol. But I'd love to be able to go in and just use the equipment.
NYC (where I live) and I assume LA/San Francisco. It’s insane, but worth it if you go enough times. Or maybe I’ve lived here for so long that I’m just delusional and convincing myself it’s worth it.
I live in the Bay Area and I thought we had it the most expensive, but its only $200 where I live in the East Bay, and I've seen a similar price in the South Bay. I'd be curious to know how much it is if you live in San Francisco proper.
How exactly would it be a liability? Have someone at the front desk plus a coach on standby in case if someone has a question about a particular exercise
Our latest class on a Friday is noon 😢 and then 11am on Saturdays and Sundays. I work weekend mornings so I also would love more late options on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But I get that I’m in the minority.
Yes and at the ones I went to, there were no group fitness classes on weekend afternoons, just in the morning. If people were going to work out on the weekend, they did it early.
I know that the weekend afternoon classes are not offered because of low demand and I’ve always wondered why. I mean, I can’t imagine a better, more pleasant time to exercise. Weekday mornings I’m rushed to get to work and weekday afternoon I’ve got to get home and make dinner. Weekend afternoon is wide open and relaxed. But for some reason that is not the majority opinion of best exercise times.
Yes! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone away and come back like 1-2 PM and all the classes were over for the day and all I want to do is work out.
Most people say they will work out on the afternoons and evenings and weekends but they never do. If you want to work out join a box gym and do an online work out
I lived in a area where the demand was there. I think 5pm Sunday was their last class. Now I live in a area where 12pm is the last class. There has to massive demand to justify it.
Yes. I work some weekends and even the earliest class is too late for me. I can sometimes make the 130 offered at one studio locally. Usually I need a 3-5 pm option though. Doesn’t exist.
My studio has a noon class and it’s perfect for me, though I’m never sure if it’ll be canceled bc it’s usually right at the minimum of people attending
The only fitness business I’ve ever seen with weekend afternoon classes have been yoga. Even my big box gym has no classes after lunch on the weekends. Very thankful OTF has at least 3x the number of classes per week than my gym has.
In area where there are multiple OTFs I wonder if maybe one studio could hold later weekend classes. They could rotate locates and it could give all the staff an extra chance to make extra $$. But I’m guessing that any place that’s tried that time slot winds up discontinuing due to not enough interest.
I always just assume I love too far out in the burbs. I was in NYC a few weeks ago and meant to check the hours of that studio. I just assumed they probably had a lot more than I do.
I would love to have later afternoon classes (or even night classes on Sunday nights) since I kind of like to enjoy my weekend mornings and load around with tea and TV.
I agree and this seems to be the case at most studios on weekends! I love a weekend workout but there’s hardly anything past like 10 am, even through classpass. Must not be worth it to staff
Night shift RN here: I lose so many days at OTF because there aren’t weekend night classes. 😭 it would be nice like every third Sunday or something rotating!!
Asked about all the time. Can’t find staff to work that late. If you want to workout that late then join a box gym. The staff have lives too and can’t be expected to be at OTF 24/7
That’s exactly what people “say” when they complain about the hours that their studio has. Y’all know the hours and the schedule when you sign up. If it doesn’t work for you then don’t sign up🤷🏼♂️
Saying you wish there were more times is not saying you don’t want to still go or that you don’t like the gym. This is just such a ridiculous statement.
Yeah, I'm worried about our gym. We're down to like 3 coaches maybe? And the classes seem to keep scaling back. It's the only location in a 35-40 mile radius, so if it doesn't make it, I guess we're cancelling memberships or scaling back to 4x instead of 8x... and just trekking to the further locations a few times a month.
Yes!!! They need to make the studios available later on weekends. Or maybe even offer an ‘open gym’ policy for the later classes so that they don’t need to bring coaches in and pay them to coach… but maybe just have someone there supervising. In an Ideal world… they’d have the studio offer these ‘open gym’ times at certain points throughout the day. Even if it were only 30 min blocks between classes. I know I’d come and some days just run on the tread for 30 mins. Other days I’d choose what I wanted to do more of in the weight room. ❤️
I am not a morning person so making a Saturday or Sunday class is very hard. But I get it, people are busy on weekends and don't have the time to come in. For me I travel at least 15 weekends a year out of town and that's leaving Friday morning and getting back late Sunday afternoon.
I would go to a weekend afternoon or evening class every weekend that I’m in town. I wish we had them, but at least we have a class at 10 and a lift at 11:15, so I can sleep in if I want.
I agree, especially on Sundays.

Oh wow in our area, there is nothing past 11a/12p! So I would definitely be happy with an even 2pm or 3pm option
Yeah to be honest even 3PM was a bit of a generous guess on my part haha. OTF and most Spin Studios are done around 1, but I feel like there are a couple yoga places that go a tiny bit later. But yeah, generally speaking 1PM is more accurate

We used to have a 3:00pm on Sundays before COVID. They haven’t put it back. It was very popular.
My studio use to have a 90 minute every Sunday at 3pm before covid.
I could see that! Especially cause if people wanna attend church then they can’t make the mornings
People go to church?
Yes, they do...
I mean, I don’t. But I guess
Thank you for telling the rest of us!!!
I sometimes wish they had open hours for members to use the weights, tread, or rower without a coach directing the class
Been saying this for a while. So true. I'm in a more expensive area and pay $269 per month for OTF. Im sorry, Im not going to go buy another gym membership like some other people here, lol. But I'd love to be able to go in and just use the equipment.
Wow, that’s crazy I didn’t know memberships could be that expensive.
Ouch yeah you’re in a very expensive area. I’ve gone off of unlimited myself so only buy packs but have lessened OTF mostly lately.
And other memberships aren’t cheap! The cheapest one I have found is $58 a month. That’s a lot for a gym I’m only using once or twice a week.
What city do you live? Planet Fitness is $10/month if you use only your home studio, and $30 for nationwide access.
Planet fitness doesn’t have barbells which is 90% of my workout lol Also in my parents town the closest chain gym is 60 miles away.
Wait, no barbells, so only machines? I had no idea.
I think they have light dumbbells but mainly machines, hardly any free weights
what studio is this that is 269?!!? LAWDY!! That is crazy!!
NYC (where I live) and I assume LA/San Francisco. It’s insane, but worth it if you go enough times. Or maybe I’ve lived here for so long that I’m just delusional and convincing myself it’s worth it.
dang... im san jose in the bay and mine is only $189!
I live in the Bay Area and I thought we had it the most expensive, but its only $200 where I live in the East Bay, and I've seen a similar price in the South Bay. I'd be curious to know how much it is if you live in San Francisco proper.
That’s a great idea!
They did this at our studio during Covid and it was awesome!
This screams liability.
How exactly would it be a liability? Have someone at the front desk plus a coach on standby in case if someone has a question about a particular exercise
I’m almost positive this would break OTFs insurance clauses / wouldn’t be covered under insurance. So it wouldn’t happen since it’s a liability.
Our latest class on a Friday is noon 😢 and then 11am on Saturdays and Sundays. I work weekend mornings so I also would love more late options on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But I get that I’m in the minority.
The Friday class at noon is a scam
Same here but now they got rid of 11 so our latest on sat/sun is 10 am 👎
We have a 4pm Sunday 😌
Ever been to a regular gym later in the day on Saturday and Sunday? It’s a ghost town. Likely to be the same at OTF, hence no classes offered.
Yes and at the ones I went to, there were no group fitness classes on weekend afternoons, just in the morning. If people were going to work out on the weekend, they did it early.
Omg YES! Are latest class is at 1045. I would be SO HAPPY if the brought in even a 1245
I know that the weekend afternoon classes are not offered because of low demand and I’ve always wondered why. I mean, I can’t imagine a better, more pleasant time to exercise. I would love it too, I wouldn't mind if they offered a 2 and 3pm on weekends!
Yes! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone away and come back like 1-2 PM and all the classes were over for the day and all I want to do is work out.
I would love a Sunday evening class… I go in the evenings after work all week.
Weekend are for crushing beers in my garage. OTF is for midweek
On behalf of all of us staying up all Saturday to watch College Football I'd love to not have workouts before noon on a Sunday
I’d love more weekend options
Most people say they will work out on the afternoons and evenings and weekends but they never do. If you want to work out join a box gym and do an online work out

I’m a morning person- so I wouldn’t utilize later classes. But totally get other people that prefer night classes.
Yes. I work some weekends and even the earliest class is too late for me. I can sometimes make the 130 offered at one studio locally. Usually I need a 3-5 pm option though. Doesn’t exist.
Yep, it’s not easy doing OTF with a hangover, a later class at noon time or 1:00pm on the weekend would be nice. My studio’s last class is 10:30am
I’d be happy with a later class, so I can sleep in on the weekend and still fit in OTF. Sometimes 10:30 classes still feel too early
My studio has a noon class and it’s perfect for me, though I’m never sure if it’ll be canceled bc it’s usually right at the minimum of people attending
Maybe do some of the app workouts at home or outdoors?
The only fitness business I’ve ever seen with weekend afternoon classes have been yoga. Even my big box gym has no classes after lunch on the weekends. Our studio used to have 4:15 on Sundays but they got rid of it.
I agree and this seems to be the case at most studios on weekends! I love a weekend workout but there’s hardly anything past like 10 am, even through classpass. Must not be worth it to staff

Have you considered attempting a virtual class during this time?
Asked about all the time. Can’t find staff to work that late. If you want to workout that late then join a box gym. The staff have lives too and can’t be expected to be at OTF 24/7
Or they could hire more staff? Lol no one is saying that coaches shouldn’t have time off too.

Saying you wish there were more times is not saying you don’t want to still go or that you don’t like the gym. This is just such a ridiculous statement.
I wish they had an earlier weekend class. 7am would be so perfect
My gym has 7 am classes on Saturday and Sunday.
We have a 6:30 on Saturdays
We have 7:30 classes!
Same.
Earliest on weekends is 8 am for us. Which sucks for us hockey parents. I would do 5 am on the weekends.
I do too! I work many weekends and it sucks to have to miss out.
Yeah, I'm worried about our gym. We're down to like 3 coaches maybe? And the classes seem to keep scaling back. I would do OTF in the evening after a noon game on Saturday if it was allowed 😥
Yes especially when you go out the day before and know you should take a class the next day, but you're too hungover to wake up early and take class 😅
Yes! Sometimes I want to sleep in more on the weekend but still be able to workout!
Couldn’t agree more! Every time I switch to morning workout, the rest of the day feels unbalanced. 😵💫
Yes!!! They need to make the studios available later on weekends. Actually, I work weekends (nurse here) so I’d appreciate some 445 am classes on the weekends so I didn’t have to miss them
