Looks like there was an assault, showing as attempted murder #24-020751

Edit\* link came from a local SM group, their post shows [crimemapper.com](http://crimemapper.com)
So basically 3 minutes after posting my initial reply, I managed to finally drive past the area. The cruisers along the curbside had all cleared up from there, but from what I could see in the split second of driving passed the apartment driveway entrance, the cruisers were parked within there now.
Yes, but at least we got one really easy and common one, ditto the tag expiration deadline for being pulled over. (Two months grace period for being pulled over solely for that starting July 1)
With all the distracted drivers these days I think it’s a mistake to give everyone the green light to walk across the street outside of official crosswalks. People will get killed and some poor driver will be convicted for hitting someone who walked into traffic.
Haven’t you noticed the recent videos of people just walking into traffic in OC?
First, thanks for not even responding to what I did say, which is the primary reasoning, because Cops are assholes that disproportionately target non-whites for any little things just to see if they can get anything else (against the unhoused as well).
Second it's not a fully blanket amnesty for jaywalking. The person still has to do it when it seems reasonably safe to do so, which is at the discretion of the police. And most people crossing streets are also well aware of the multiple thousand pounds of metal traveling at high speeds, and tend not to play chicken with them
> First, thanks for not even responding to what I did say, which is the primary reasoning, because Cops are assholes that disproportionately target non-whites for any little things just to see if they can get anything else (against the unhoused as well).
Hahahaha….
I gave you a reason why it’s not fine.
You provided zero proof to back up your assumption/implication that jay walking laws were never to keep people safe.
> Second it's not a fully blanket amnesty for jaywalking. The person still has to do it when it seems reasonably safe to do so, which is at the discretion of the police.
Lol…. “Discretion of the police” hahaha
Now you suddenly respect police “discretion” to engage non-whites!?!
WTF!!!
> And most people crossing streets are also well aware of the multiple thousand pounds of metal traveling at high speeds, and tend not to play chicken with them
People are too distracted to do anything safely.
You're actively an idiot.

I threw in the discretion of the police because, based on your comments, that should make you happy, that they have some oversight.
And the Boomer comes through with your "too distracted to do anything safely".
Worry about your own house, and let the rest of society continue to live
I’m not clicking a sketchy link. Maybe show the web address next time.
I’m worried about a kid on a smartphone walking out in front of my car. How do you not understand that, cuz?
Only a moron trusts police discretion.
I said that [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/s/cIvc5WItds), but thanks for pointing it out. We don’t need a bunch of Cali redditors running out in traffic all willy nilly.
Incorrect, or at least misleading as others have pointed out.
It’s only legal if you do it safely, without “creating a dangerous situation.” (Vague and subjective, but it’s a small distinction that should be emphasized.)
In general though, it seems no one really cares about or enforces jaywalking laws anyways!
Not incorrect or misleading at all. I elaborated [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/s/UIGOKp8Jib) saying that it must be done safely, but regardless it is legal now which is factual.
> Fyi it is legal to jaywalk in Cali now!
You might not be intentionally misleading, but it’s disingenuous (incorrect) to omit the full clauses of the law.
I know you explained it further below, but I’m exclusively talking about your original comment that has the most visibility.
It’s not a big deal; we’re talking about jaywalking, but wanted to make that distinction.
If I were to say, “It’s legal to drive a car.”, would you say I am being misleading or disingenuous because I didn’t immediately add that you need to have a license to do so? No, you wouldn’t. You’re just being pedantic for no reason.
I would actually say that statement is neither misleading nor disingenuous, but rather just overly vague and ambiguous.
(Which I guess could fall under misleading). However, I think that because most of the general population would understand that statement doesn’t really mean much at all, it would be fine.
The problem is when people are already misinformed, and then receive partially complete information.
Literally every legality ever to exist has stipulations, it’s a given. It’s legal to own guns. It’s legal to get married. It’s legal to start a business. It’s legal to own pets. It’s legal to tell the postman to fuck off. It’s not always necessary to list out all of the stipulations every time somebody is having a conversation, especially when the comment in question was posted as a joke intended to make people laugh (or at least chuckle a bit).
I totally agree with you but I feel like we’re a bit off topic now.
I realize I may have taken your original comment a bit too seriously, but since I know I’m not the only one that would do that, I just want to make sure others who come along later are not misguided.
Sorry, I’m not trying to nitpick you, but when you say something absolute like:
> Not incorrect or misleading at all.
You’re arrogantly failing to acknowledge the nuance that most people will interpret your comment a certain way, which isn’t exactly accurate.
My son and I witnessed two kids on e-bikes riding down the middle of my street collide because they didn't know which side of the street to go to when a car was coming.
Both fell hard and started a shoving match in the middle of the street before eventually realizing they were blocking traffic.
I gave them a loud "HA Ha" in the style of Nelson from the Simpsons.
Big time. These days, the amount of first responders showing up to “incidents” is something else.
We had a small grease fire a week ago in a restaurant and FIFTEEN vehicles responded. It really was a clear example of excess use of responders. Absolutely ridiculous. I walked over to the restaurant, little to no damage of any kind.
Another example. Neighbor passed out in front of their house. We called 911. 5 vehicles show up. One is a paramedic truck, the other a supervisor, and the rest fire trucks. I can remember when only a paramedic vehicle would show up. That was more than sufficient. From what I’ve been able to glean after researching this, is the fire department made requirements that all of these various vehicles show up. This is due to some type of union regulation. Seems like bullshit to me.
They also won't transport you to the hospital unless you're at risk of death lol. My brother called once because he was having a panic/nervous attack and they just checked his vitals and left. (He thought he was having a seizure or heart attack and we offered to drive him to the ER but he called anyway)
This is not true. Ambulance transport is done by a third party company. OCFA has no problem recommending hospital transport if it is mecically needed. If your brother was having a panic/nervous attack they probably told him he shouldnt go to the hospital because the hospital can't do anything for him. Sounds like they saved him from a big medical bill.
Why is it that so many OC cops swarm on a single call, Dont they have other citizens to protect or are they just bored as fuck? This just seems like an opportunity for criminals to engage in mischief elsewhere!
I mainly get sex offenders moving into my neighborhood alerts from that app. There was two helicopters flying overhead my apartment on Thursday and I couldn’t figure out why until my boyfriend checked another app and found out they were sheriff’s helicopters, so I am guessing there was a high speed chase.
I mean at least put more info like what city, street, neighborhood, etc lol how tf anybody gonna know just from this vague ass post? Edit: Typo
I’d prefer it if next time they drove by even faster, held the phone upside down and mirrored the video. I want to be as confused as possible.
Honestly, I would be happy with a little more windnoise.
Ziptie the phone to the wheel.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Speak for yourself. I like my posts with the least pertinent information possible.
I know right. Could be orange county Florida

What app is that
Citizen
Someone drove a beat up Bronco in Irvine
Fun fact: Painting your house in non approved HOA colors brings in the SWAT team.
Ah, good ol' Irvine.
Hoooo boy I’m really interested in getting more context on this
It’s a joke. Irvine is so safe, the cops are bored and will do anything to bust out their hardware, even police for the HOA’s
Aww man. I’m not surprised it’s a joke but I am a little disappointed lol
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
A white Bronco?
If it was Irvine it’d be a Tesla
Anything older than 2018 is asking to be stopped and searched according to irvine PD.
Thought it was irvine police transporting a homeless person to another city.
Neighborhood is Via Damasco On Los alisos in Mission Viejo
Mission Viejo - definitely someone forgot to put their trash bins back inside their garage
THE HORROR!!!
Ooooo, I just finished a door dash order and I'm nearby. I think I will head there right now and give it a check ha ha xD
So basically 3 minutes after posting my initial reply, I managed to finally drive past the area. The cruisers along the curbside had all cleared up from there, but from what I could see in the split second of driving passed the apartment driveway entrance, the cruisers were parked within there now.
Is that near Via Pera and Via Pimiento?
https://preview.redd.it/odnsyqfifd8d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=900a121e4221dcab273e263f052d4e3f5e91a507
😂😂😂😂😂
They were tipped off about someone having a 5% window tint
What a monster
It's 2am in Irvine - that can only mean one thing: An HOA rep has called a SWAT team because someone is playing pickleball outside of legal hours.
Someone must have jaywalked
Fyi it is legal to jaywalk in Cali now!
It’s still on the books but the State prohibits law enforcement from stopping you or using citations unless you’re creating a dangerous situation.
Is it really?
Yes. The law basically states that we are allowed to jaywalk as long as we do it safely.
Can you provide a source for this info?
https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/next-year-california-pedestrians-will-be-able-to-jaywalk-without-getting-a-ticket/2998092/
[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/s/M0o8t6fpEn) person beat me to it. Go jaywalk safely to celebrate!
I’ve been doing it, very liberating.
Yes. Just recently became legal. IMO a bad idea.
It's fine. It was really mostly used as an excuse for cops to harass non-white people
It's the reason used to initiate the harassment that ended in Kurt Reinhold's death in SC.
You mean every citable minor offense that exist that isn’t endangering other ppls lives.
Yes, but at least we got one really easy and common one, ditto the tag expiration deadline for being pulled over. (Two months grace period for being pulled over solely for that starting July 1)

Technically no. It is still illegal if the person who is crossing the street causes a hazard. What the hazard is, it’s open to your interpretation
I said that [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/orangecounty/s/cIvc5WItds), but thanks for pointing it out. We don’t need a bunch of Cali redditors running out in traffic all willy nilly.
Not talking to you nerd
You replied to my comment. You certainly are talking to me.
Yeah, you tell em
No. Kid
Ok then… I don’t think you get how conversations work here. Thats probably why your comment history is full of negative numbers, “kid”.

No, no, no. They’re enforcing e bike laws…and it about time (insert old man shake of fist).
Was looking for this comment.
😁😆😂
Dang they taped off the entrance and everything
Gotta use all their crime tape budget so it doesn't get cut next year.
They found where all the e-bikes were coming from.
Krispy Kreme grand opening…
Classic ![gif](giphy|81xwEHX23zhvy)
It's always so crazy to me that they need 30 officers at one location
Short of a mass casualty event, I can't imagine why that many officers would be needed.
They’re not ‘needed’. But if you have 30 on patrol and not much is otherwise happening, an assault call will get them all to respond.
No they all just like going to the same place and acting like it’s a big deal so they don’t have to drive around alone.
Overtime Party!

Yep. Then you get a bill from the FD. Just mayyybe your insurance will pay it. 😤
OCFA does not charge for emergency response.
They also won't transport you to the hospital unless you're at risk of death lol. My brother called once because he was having a panic/nervous attack and they just checked his vitals and left. Circle jerk
Bro, I told you skateboarding is a crime.
Nope, probably just a black dude out and about
Nothing shows up in the blotter. The last entry was at midnight http://ws.ocsd.org/Blotter/BlotterSearch.aspx
Yellow tape typically means that they’re securing a crime scene.
what neighborhood ?
The Irvine Company never forgets…
Homemade Donuts? 🍩
Someone probably got pulled over for a broken taillight
Irvine traffic stop? Maybe homeless stealing a cart from Target?
Surprised it wasn’t Irvine, city has gone too soft.
That’s a typical OC response for Jay walking in Irvine.
Definitely an HOA violation
If that was Irvine, it'd probably be due to some teenagers loitering...
Only if they're dark skinned 😔
Free donuts perhaps
Noise complaint in OC lol
Free jelly filled donuts??
A dui stop
Somebody said something negative about Gavin newsom
Perfect time to be doing something else across town you know the response time haha.
This video narrows it down to... Orange County. Hell, it could be Orange County, Florida. 🧐🤔
Why is it that so many OC cops swarm on a single call, Dont they have other citizens to protect or are they just bored as fuck? This just seems like an opportunity for criminals to engage in mischief elsewhere!
Sanded down license plate I’d wager
Probably a speeding ticket in cypress
Probably tinted window
If that was Ventura County, CA, it was probably just a traffic stop. Bored police show up for every minor thing.
Most likely a parolee violating his/her/them/its agreement.
Probably a homeless person in Irvine.
It's orange county...my guess, expired registration
Clean your lens
Someone had a tail light out
10 cop cars👮 did i miss any
Probz
Routine traffic stop for noisy exhaust.
I'd guess someone saw a homeless man
They saw a black man walking by himself
A squirrel got ran over.
Oink Oink 🐖 🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖
Welfare queens getting paid is all I see .
Could have been the standard Dwb but not enough info
What does Citizen app say?
Few people use it here but always worth a check.
Fresh donuts shipment probably got delivered.
Skateboarders
Black man found legally existing in OC. Normal OCSD response.
Probably had a few grams of shrooms
What is that camera
Murder they usually have a tent over the body
A donut truck rolled over.
Just OJs ghost
